I think you're right lol, but it certainly looks better to what I'm currently using ( check 2 pages back for the gif)

That's not too bad looking, I think some of the cobbled together armor sets look kind of nice in there own way. But nothing beats the full on Witcher armors, they all look great I think.

Imo the expansions should continue from the level you are expected to be at the end of the game. If you didn't find the game enjoyable enough to finish it, you probably wouldn't play the expansions either. There should be no reason to play the expansions before finishing the main game.
I mean that's where I'd lean on a personal level, but CDPR can't really work like that and have to try to sell expansions to as many players as possible... Which means making them level 5, even, for players who didn't even leave White Orchard.

They really have no choice but to make the expansions scale to player level, so hopefully that was their plan all along. They can't just dump 10 hours of low-level content on us, there'd be an internet shit storm...

Re-read that book about the witches again. 'Ladies of the Wood' I think it's called. Might put the whole quest, and your choices, in a new terrible light. :-)
It's called "She Who Knows".

Hitting that 60ish hour mark.

Still pretty floored- the amount of content is absolutely staggering. I'm only Level 17 exploring Skellige, and I keep accepting so many sidequests that continue to be so well-written.

This is, without a doubt, up in the "best games I've ever played" category, and I'm not even close to finishing.

i was playing some Paper Mario instead of the Witcher since i'm waiting for the patch. it gave me an idea, they should make a Mario game that's like the Witcher. Mario is a grizzled old plumber traveling across the Mushroom Kingdom in search of Princess Peach. He can take jobs helping Toads and Yoshis and shit along the way.

Meh, knew it. All the DLC is going to be level 10 type stuff for casual players, isn't it?

This does make you wonder exactly what they're thinking for the large expansions. Are the hardcore players just going to be buying a bunch of greyed-out level 10 quests or are they going to turn away casuals by making 25 the minimum level? Not sure CDPR thought this leveling system all the way through...

I believe the merchants sell a higher level version of the other DLC armor, you have to go back at the appropriate level. Same thing will probably happen with this gear. As for the expansions, I'm really curious about that too. I imagine it'll have to be 40+ since it sounds most people are finishing the game 30-35.

So I got the diagrams for the mastercrafted griffin armor but I was 110 xp short of the level 31 requirement for it and all the sidequests I have to do are too low to give any xp. Since I wanted that armor before continuing the on main quest I ended up spending 1120 crowns at the brothel to grind out the xp I needed. >_>

If you ignore the quest giver, you'll recieve a reward in Novigrad, the best course of action in that quest is to
cure him and then immediately kill him, that way you get both rewards.
If you do that, I don't think you miss out on any reward or story.

So why i should i ever play with heavy for example? it must have other benefits if stamina regenerates slower with it.

Because Heavy has the highest stamina regeneration rate in the form of adrenaline gains.
Yes, it sounds like a contradiction that heavy is best suited for stamina spamming gameplay.
Your adrenaline can be used to spam spells for 1 point in Rage Management.
And there is another talent that let you gain adrenaline everytime you cast a sign.
It makes the game really fun when you have 3 bars+1 stam bar.
You can cast shield, cast trap, cast ignite, cast shockwave..repeatedly too if you want to combo in some fast attacks while enemies are in the trap to gain more adrenaline.
Heavy=Spellsword/Arcane Warrior playstyle.

Witcher armor sets were a mistake, they're nothing but trash. I mean, they're the best gear in the game, but they break the loot system.
I still have an insane number of hidden treasures to track down, but I know that there's no chance that the gear I find there could compare to my witcher set. Anything I loot will also have limited use as crafting supplies because it looks like I'd need the expansions just to be able to level up to craft any item that outlevels these sets. Plus, by now I likely have all the materials I'll ever need anyway.

But where do I find the quest giver? I haven't taken the quest from him yet.

Thanks a lot!

well you won't find the enhanced, superior and mastercrafted recipes for the witcher sets just like that. so I take it you used guides to find them? if you look up where to find the best loot and then complain that all the other loot is now worthless it's your own fault really.
besides, I think especially when it comes to the swords there are better recipes around than the witcher sets.

So I'm in Novigrad, doing the get junior quest and I can't progress. The quest marker dissappear and when I found the arena again, can't open the secret door. Am I totally fucked at this point? I'm guess the get junior is important to the story so... :(

It's below in the sewers. The gps thingy messes with you on that quest.

I started playing the game on PS4 now. It's crazy how hard Emerald Dust is to come by in the beginning.

On my lv20 PC version Geralt I have piles of that stuff.

I had the same problem, needed emerald dust to craft something but couldn't find it. The only way I could would be to buy it but it's VERY expensive.

Anyway, later on doing a quest I ran into some creatures ( forgot the name) and got emerald dust once I killed them then looting.

Being limited to 8 save slots (on PS4) is weird and annoying. (I'm a bit of an over-saver; between my two characters on DA:I, I probably have 30 saves. Really wish console games had quicksaves.)

While waiting for the exp bug to be patched, I started a new game for the Death March trophy, as well as some gwent trophies. But I don't think I can manage keeping saves for two games when I only have 8 slots and when they aren't easily discernable.

Hurrrrry up with the patch, please.

Hard to farm Spectres at low levels, but they're a good source of gem dust.

Yes, later on wraiths drop it all the time. And other gem dust as well. But the closest wraith in White Orchard is level 6 or 7 and she is almost impossible to kill before some leveling.

You need this dust to craft Serpentine set swords.

im having such a mind blank..

how do you purchase grapeshot/samum again?

The recipe or refilling them?
Recipe is random from shop and loot...so who knows where really.
Refilling them=mediation with hard alcohol.

Edit: Crafting materials? They should be at the herbalist.

I really miss the way resource management felt early on. Having to hunt down specific materials (going on shopping trips), having to watch my budget because I had to be able to afford repairs after a lengthy quest.

Huh? You can buy maps that get you started on each witcher gear quest. I didn't have to look anything up and I kept stumbling upon witcher recipes I didn't even want, because they're often located in other quest areas.
I guess I shouldn't have been paying attention? I really screwed up there. Next time, I'll make sure to play it drunk!

those quests are for the basic sets.
but you will find better gear than those very fast, so I don't see your point.

unless you upgrade the witcher gear to enhanced, superior and mastercrafted. only the mastercrafted witcher gear is the best in game and you need to find all the recipes for those, and there are no maps or quests for those.

OK, just checked the Prima guide, only one quest giver, found during the mission
Nameless
or on a notice board, only way Novigrad is connected is in a reward location.

What do you mean? All the sets are tied to map.
From basic to mastercrafted, Scavenger Hunt lvl 1-4.
And the weird thing about mastercrafted recipes are that they are always at POI or related quests. You will find all the MC stuff before the basic to superior recipes. It is like devs purposely put it there at low level to create a carrot/stick for players.

The alternate ending has the children devoured by the Crones. The Baron and Anna live but she has been driven insane after all the emotional trauma. Geralt thinks she is beyond help but the Baron refuses to give up and decides to take her to someone that can try to heal her mind. The daughter wants to go too but the Witch Hunters insist that she now belongs to the Eternal Flame.

In that case... I think I'm glad with how I went.

Story Spoiler -
Man I really want to kill the Crones, can't believe they tried to kill Ciri. Also I ended up releasing the spirit to free the orphans. Were the Crones going to kill/eat them?

This game really doesn't make things black and white eh :P

meditation doesnt refill it for me (not sure what you mean by the alcohol bit)

Edit: Hmm already have the ingredients, so not sure why i cant create more! says you already have this item.

You can only create every item type once and then you refill it via meditation.

Yeah, I'm of two minds on Witcher sets.
On the one hand it's all "badass Witcher, fuck yeah" but OTOH, every now and then someone will give me their legendary family heirloom sword and I'll be like "cool story bro but my Witcher sword ploughs your old ass tin junk".
Nevermind that from that point every super secret treasure is just an opportunity to test my weight limit and I'll end up throwing elven relics in the gutter behind the brothel.

And during those quests you find letters and diaries that lead you to the next quest tier. I have all of the treasure hunts in my quest log without having to look anything up. Sheesh.

Even if these weren't tied to quests (which they are), you're able to craft them around the level required to finish the main story, a point you are supposed to reach before clearing out the whole map. Which means that there's no avoiding the point where looting becomes pointless before the expansions.

really? well in that case I guess I am wrong?

when I found basic gear I got the quests, I never gt a quest for enhanced, superior or mastercrafted items and I got them all by now.

there were never any letters in those, only in locations for the basic gear
how do you get those quests?

Do I have to have Axii equipped as my active sign before entering a conversation for it to be useable in a conversation?

I have it completely upgraded in tier 1 and 1/3 in tier 2 but it never seems to be an option in conversations.

Can you use it against merchants for better prices?

You buy maps in vendors. And he's not wrong about the loot, I just don't care because I don't view this as a loot game like a diablo for example.

Yes to equiped (like every skill) no to vendors
