Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure

Can't wait to see him backpedal when it launches in 2016

I am not too sure. Bethesda doing their first press conference and what will be arguably be their biggest thing to show and then say "Oh, it is 2016". I think this baby is coming this holiday and a new Elder Scrolls for 2016 holiday.

Please sir, with your thinking cap on give me a critical analysis of the literary, artistic and direction/design merits of that trailer.

What did you find that it did successfully? How did it illuminate for you a cohesive picture of the goals, intentions, and characterizations within the game?

There is objective analysis in life. Games are not immune to it just by virtue of mostly being uncultured dopamine fixation power fantasies. They can be evaluated on their merits in a vacuum using existant structures and considerations.

I can objectively state Don Quixote is superior to Twilight: New Moon. Near cases are obviously more difficult to evaluate but as we say: a spade is a spade. And that trailer had spades of shit with nary a coherent thought to show.

The objective opinion. Quite the oxymoron.

Well, this will be the game I'll need to get a new PC for.

I can handle Witcher 3 on PS4 with no mods because it's such a polished game to begin with. Every recent open world Bethesda game has desperately needing modding for me to be able to fully enjoy it.

I'm really excited for this game. Hopefully it will be more along the lines of NV rather than F3 story-wise. Even without Obsidian.

As far as I can tell this is BY FAR the most visually accomplished game in the history of Bethesda.

People comparing it to the Witcher 3 are missing the point. The fact that a company with such a mediocre pedigree when it comes to graphics managed to finally put out a good looking game AT LAST should be celebrated.

The Witcher is one of the best looking RPGs ever, and while it would be be desirable that Bethesda managed to one up it in terms of visuals, that would be without precedent.

Now if this were about game breaking bugs, you'd have a better point. Because goddamn, Bethesda's QA sure is run by monkeys.

Fucking THANK YOU for saying this

You couldn't objectively state that if all you've seen of both of those movies is a 2 minute trailer. You'd probably be right, but no one would take you seriously until you saw the movies anyway. The fact that the fucking teaser trailer didn't give you every little goal and intention of the game doesn't mean the full game won't have these things. Yet you're willing to come in here with your hyperbolic nonsense about how you know the game is going to be "Focus group dreck" while only seeing a fraction of a fraction of what the game has to offer.

Nevermind not being fun at parties, with your snap judgmental attitude they probably stopped inviting you. Because last time they asked you, you complained that they didn't give a concise and cohesive reasoning about why they're having a party in the first place, and what the party entails.

One pretty big weakness that's making it look a bit last-gen is the complete lack of ambient occlusion. It makes everything look like it's hovering, nothing looks connected and grounded. With some AO (doesn't even have to be highest quality stuff) the overall image would be much more appealing.

Morrowind and Oblivion looked amazing when they first came out. Also, the gap from Morrowind to Oblivion was just shy of 4 years, and the graphical jump was ridiculous. Fallout 3 is going to be more than 7 years old by the time Fallout 4 comes out.

There are diminishing returns.

Take the progression, one or two years between games: Wolfenstein -> Doom -> Quake.

Yet since then the curve has slowed down hugely.

This thread is a prime example why companies blast you with bullshots and CGI lol. My god the need to be negative after one trailer when the game willingly be showing running live in 2 weeks. Carry on

Looks good at points and kinda rough everywhere else, just like the two other FPS Fallouts.

Might buy a PS4/BONE/PC upgrade for this. I loooved Fallout 3 to death.

I love modern gaming discussion. It's like the hyperbole Olympics of who can say the most outrageous shit to express their opinion.

From: 'I hope they polish up the visuals'
To: 'LOOKS LIKE DOGSHIT FUCKING COCKSUCKERS'

The NEOGAF RAGE ARMY is coming for you Bethesda...

...so yeah, you better...you better watch out...

Agreed.

Bethesda tried to keep prerelease media concise with Skyrim's 11 month wait, and they still got their forums flooded, their Twitters harassed and their servers hacked.

At some point, the shorter the wait the better.

People aren't upset that they showed us how the game actually looks.

People are upset that the game actually looks bad for a 2015 title.

Big difference.

Since when we're Fallout games defined by graphics? They're defined by their shitty Q&A. I'm in though can't wait to explore Boston and have my companion dog!

The objective opinion. Quite the oxymoron.

Shhh let the pretension flow freely. Trailers are not meant as a means to wet ones appetite for a giant trade show coming up in a scant two weeks, we need a cohesive narrative... and Don Quixote references or else it is garbage. Factually. It's fact because I believe it to be true.

People like you are the reason publishers keep tossing out broken-ass games and tearing out more content to shove into pre-order promos. Stop throwing money at a completely unknown, unfinished product. Team day one on a Bethesda game? Ugh, just ugh.

To be fair, they have been at it for 4 years. If they really do release a broken game again, there is literally no hope for Bethsy.

I hope im not going to get banned for being bold here, I watched the trailer and all I saw was something that looked like a PS3 game that supposed to be current gen only.
Is this for real? I mainly play CSGO so believe me when I say I am not a graphics whore, but these graphics are so bad that I hope its a joke and we'll see the "real" game at E3.

Godamn how is it even possible.. fuck.

edit: maybe if its running at 60fps...

I think its more of gamers possibly being frustrated after the numerous bullshots and "cinematic" gameplay trailers that lead gamers on?

I'm OK with having some cynicism. Devs deserve it after they hype these games up to obscene levels then backtrack when the product isn't near what we were told we were going to get.

However, I applaud Bethesda for releasing something that looks more in line with what the final product will be. This needs to be stressed more.

To be fair, AAA publishers have bred a culture of cynicism and disdain through years of slash and burn policies.

I really hope he's right. It's rational to think it could come this Fall, but it has also been the generation of delays, so I don't want to expect it.

Back when Skyrim was in development, Todd Howard said several times that they were not happy with the early announcement model anymore. On Oblivion, they announced the game far in advance and then were forced to create many trailers to keep people happy, maintain the hype, balance how much to reveal over a long period of time. In the future, they wanted shorter announce->release windows. So, I completely believe him and 100% expect this to come out this year. This is long enough in advance for them to generate hype but not too long for them to get overburdened with maintaining it.

Yeah. But then complaints about the graphics happens either way. Developers can't win being honest or liers.

one of the worst strawmans ive ever seen, good lord man wtf are you doing

I took it as you insulting people cause they're expecting improvement? I can only assume you disagree with the premise of technical improvement.

Maybe I read it wrong, but that shit makes my blood boil.

Of course expectations should be within reason - but to degrade people for being disappointed (according to me rightly so) with how a games presentation is from a game in this time and date is for me unacceptable. We're in our right to expect more.

Objectively, you mean.

I'm waiting for actual straight gameplay but the trailer was a bit underwhelming to me.

Maybe The Witcher 3 has spoiled me but the character models and things especially the vault guy just look last gen to me, and it still looks like Bethseda is using the same janky Gamebyro engine with terrible animation quality, was really hoping for a whole new engine/animation system.

Of course there's diminishing returns but as I said Bethesda has shown far bigger jumps than this over far less time in the past.

The graphic is absolutely fine.

It's when there's stuff that moves that the effect falls apart and you get that horrible uncanny valley effect. Bethesda has a history of very, very poor animation systems.

Would you change your tune if it was 60 FPS? Which we do not know yet?

I think we need to start comparing it to their old games and not their competitors

Its not really fair honestly

Are we going to expect every developer to eventually turn into Naughty Dog and CDPR?

Different team, talent, environment

Everything they are showing here is an improvement from what they have done before and that should be praised
