Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

They aren't well stated because they're taken from such a limited amount of information that it's hard to take those strong opinions seriously in the first place.

They chose to put limited information about their narrative focused game as a way to sell their game.

This is how they want this game to be perceived. As shallow, trite, lacking cohesion.

What one doesn't say is just as relevant as what one does. You're also backtracking, and failed to justify your personal attack, as well as failing to articulate what about the trailer is actually not worthy of derision.

This is what they've shown. On evaluation, it is lacking. If it were defensible you would step up to the plate and make a defense of it, but your goto strategy was to attempt to discredit me as a speaker rather than stay on the topic.

I'll be surprised if it's next year honestly.

You really wouldn't want to wish Bethesda glitches on yourself, I'm telling ya.

I've learned my lesson from an entire generation's worth of games from them; staying well the fuck away from this for at least a couple of months before playing. And with the immensely vocal criticism on broken games these days, if Bethesda brings it out in usual form, the shitstorm is going to be massive.

lol true, I may have spoken too soon and out of passion. I'll likely wait and see just how bad the glitches are before buying :p hyped nonetheless though.

You know that idiom doesn't mean anything, correct?

It's a reflexive psychological defense mechanism humans use to detach themselves from differing points of view in an attempt to claim that those with contrary ideas must be incapable of existing in a social framework outside of their opinion and thusly devaluing their worth as a human an based on their acceptance by a community.

It's effectively an attempt to dehumanize others. Interesting that my constructed opinions have had enough of an effect on your life that you have to attempt to break me down on a personal level in order to feel better about yourself.

Have you ever thought of the sheer cruelty of what you're doing there? That you need to attempt to bully and intimidate someone and make them feel like less of a human because of their Internet posted opinion? I'm sorry your moral center is so damaged, I hope it gets better someday. I'd suggest seeing a therapist. :)

Jesus, you really are bad at parties.

This whole post is one big internet cliche

could you try to be REAL for the next one?

Same goes for the other guy

Yep. 1 Screengrab per second slideshow.

Actually, the PS3 game like Beyond looks better than everything in this trailer.
Sure, it isn't an open world game.
But 1 screen grab per second? Yeah, Beyond will win 100/100 all the time if you guys want to compare still screenshot.

You realize that just means change opinion, right?

Right. His opinion is that the game should be finished this year. He can keep that opinion without having any negative repercussions. It's not like he's in politics. If the game doesn't come out 2015, he can say that the game should have been finished this year due to the amount of time the team has spent on developing the title thus far. That wouldn't sound like much of a backpedal to me.

This guy...

It doesn't matter what GameBryo adds to their engine, because Bethesda haven't used anything from GameBryo since Morrowind. It's all been their own in-house alterations since then to the point that they've been able to give their engine it's own name.

It's STILL the exact same codebase.

It's obvious since DAoC was using the same engine and always matched the same upgrades.

Oblivion was run by Netimmerse/Gamebryo and a bunch other middleware that went along it. Same as DAoC.

The trees and grass were SpeedTree (same in DAoC and now Witcher 3), and they even used middleware for their ugly "faces", that was also licensed a year later for DAoC.

Same for the physics engine.

Netimmerse/Gamebryo was basically a collection of middleware engines horribly plastered together.

Just saw the trailer. Have to rush back to work but here's my initial thought:

Well, it's more of Fallout 3 / NV. As someone who loves those games that's fine with me, if just a tad underwhelming.

And I'm not sure whether to be disappointed that a current-gen only game looks this mediocre or delighted that a Bethesda open-world game looks this fantastic but on balance I'll go with the latter.

Great trailer, and props to them for actually showing the game off. Hopefully they have some good writers this time and looked at what New Vegas did right.

Did anyone else stop and think about the fact that the character speaks out loud ("come on, boy" or whatever) at the end? That's presumably the player character. I wonder if we're getting voiced PCs this time.

Lmao, Jesus. What's going on here?

Why not have it? Mass Effect had it. I don't mind it, if its good.

So basically the Mass Effect route right?

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I don't get all the focus on graphics when we know it's going to have one of the best open-world gameplay experiences you can buy. Bethesda is a company where, when they would announce a game, my buddies and I would talk endlessly about how we're going to do all of these grand things related to gameplay and the world itself. Graphics were of course talked about, but they supplemented the core mechanics of the game, they weren't the reason we bought it.

I mean, maybe it's because for a good 20 years of gaming we had to deal with clubs for hands and feet, frying pans for faces, and clothes that looked like wood planks. I don't know, but I'm excited as hell to get into FO4 and lose hundreds of hours to the series again.

I really liked this part.

Why? It's just a barren place in the wasteland, YET it manages to look unique and interesting. Like a place I want to visit if I see it from afar, even if it's probably just another hole with some caps and maybe a rusty gun inside a drawer.

In comparison, Fallout 3 and New Vegas (specially New Vegas) always felt as if they were built from a very reduced number of prefab buildings and textures. And it wasn't just a technical problem: the art direction itself was a very mixed bag. Fallout 4 looks a lot more cohesive and accomplished from what it's been shown so far.

Is there a story reason behind the Fallout world looking like the 50's even though it takes place in the future?

It's a narrative thing. Remember in the 50s when everyone was dreaming of what the future would look like? Well if that dream turned into reality, that is what the future would look like.

Your post pretty much sums up this thread.

This looks really good.

This is starting to reach MGS level of craziness.

Genuinely surprised so many people are complaining about poor graphics that will get better with the final release, instead of fantastic graphics that will get worse for release. It's almost like people haven't been clamoring for an end to bullshots for years, and when someone doesn't deliver them, they are lambasted for poor quality visuals and compared to PS3 games.

If I could be bothered I would look for those posters who complained about bullshots in other threads then came here and shat on this reveals visuals. Then I would post a wall of shame. Instead I'm going to be satisfied in the knowledge that some people will read this post, realise they have in fact done this, and reassess their approach to this.

I'm astounded – after years of bullshots and publisher deception – that people are complaining about an actual trailer that shows the game in a feasible presentation that they would achieve in time for release.

This is potentially a huge open-world game, we find The Witcher struggling to maintain a steady fps due to its advanced graphics and presentation yet people are already comparing the two. I have no interest in Fallout – unfortunately – but it's quite annoying that there are so many complaints about the graphics.
Well, it does look a lot worse than Witcher 3 (the final, so-called "downgraded" version of it) in practically every single aspect. And at least, unlike most comparisons people do on GAF, that one is fair (open world RPG to open world RPG).
