You know I actually remember 2009 being kinda underwhelming, but I wasn't really interested in anything Sony was showing aside from FF13 since I didn't really have any intentions to get a PS3 or have much interest in their first-party IPs at the time. It makes sense that it was really good for them since that's when they started to turn around, though.

Is there going to be a spoiler free thread? I have a lot of work lined up for this month, the Monday when E3 starts will be another where I got a lot of hours in so will miss out on a few conferences. Will anyone be nice enough to create the spoiler free thread? It would be awesome if someone could make the thread and then post the youtube video of the conferences once they are over I can go into them fresh. Sounds nerdy and it is but fuck it, this only happens once a year and it's a few hours that I would like to experience as though I was watching it live.

Beyond was made under vastly different circumstances than Heavy Rain or any other game they did before. Their PS4 game was supposed to be developed first, but for unknown reasons it was put on hold and they started working on Beyond instead (which is actually one of QD's shelved prototypes no publisher wanted around 2005). The pre-production time was cut to 1 year (they had 3 for Heavy Rain) so the game could still release on PS3. It appears releasing another game on PS3 was the main goal here, so Beyond had to re-use as much systems from HR as possible. It's a new IP in name, but it was more or less produced like a sequel, a first for Quantic.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one and assume the rushed development cycle is the main culprit for all the gameplay shortcomings, after all 4 major scenes had to be simply cut as they couldn't meet the deadline otherwise. Hopefully they get enough time for their next game again. Starting pre-production earlier, Cage sharing writing responsibilities and hiring the guy again that created a lot of Fahrenheit's cool gameplay twists are certainly good signs though.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, as I just read Verendus' list, but haven't we known about the MH on PS4 for a while now? Not sure that's new information, we've been expecting a port for the spin-off online game for the PS4 in the MC threads.

MH-Online is a pretty real possibility and it is a MH title, albeit a spin-off... and it would be perfect for the idea of having expectations in check.

Far as I could tell, he's only concretely speaking of one. And all signs seem to point to it being MHOnline from other venues of info and the MC threads.
The rest, as far as I can tell, doesn't really seem set in stone in any way, or even in terms of location in time. I mean, if its a long-off project, it seems perfectly reasonable for him to be vague and uncertain because things can (as we can see from some of the other titles that have changed since his last "list") change and change a lot.
No, I was just looking at his wording in the original post. The second didn't even seem like a confirmation, much less anything even remotely (in either post) indicating something on the scope of MH5. For all we know, at the moment, it could be a new Frontier, MHX-HD, or even some other new spin-off series specifically for consoles. And, as for the rest, as someone who spends a lot of time in the MC threads with the other GAFsales people, I don't really know what "better" even means in this context.

I remember 2 others who were like that 1 was banned the other got smacked hard by Naughty Dog.
I remember that thread, good times. The Insider hate was at its peak back then, so much so that some people I suspected were blatantly corporate ballwashing.
To me it sounds like it could be any of the above, really. But I feel like it could also be MH4 HD or MH5. I also doubt that it would be Frontier though since that's about the scope of MH Online and title 2 was implied to be bigger than title 1.

Mayhaps, though I have no idea how the latter would be hard to surpass when Online would be a port, and making the second game bigger than the first (which is a port of what doesn't seem to be an extensive game to begin with) seems... easy. A port of MHX or MHStories would probably be "bigger" than Online. (And as I said, there doesn't seem to be actual confirmation of title 2 actually being a concrete entity.) DQXI I can see on PS4 because they've been building that base for a while now and for a while looking forward, but I haven't seen movements to make me even remotely consider MH5 of all things on a console. So I remain skeptical of such a thing.

P. Hmmm? PaRappa The Rapper? Portal 3? Prince of Persia? I'd love a Portal 3 with Morpheus support. Pure speculation on my part: What if the next Portal game (maybe not an actual "Portal 3") is a VR only experience? Since XB1 does not have a VR device (at least not one that's known), that would make it PC/PS4 exclusive using Oculus Rift/HTC Vive on PC and Morpheus on PS4.

Can't say I remember in which of our many threads we've made the connections to Online being on PS4, off the top of my head. But its been done several times.

I think you misunderstood. That title is either Nintendo, or it's nothing. It has nothing to do with Sony so it's not a case of things changing. It's moreso whether that title is actually being developed now, which I don't really know.
They're planning to localize it. It's just that Japan comes first. It's a resource thing pretty much. This is why I said in December that you're going to be waiting a good while for DD.
