Fair.Of course he'll be in it in some way, I never meant to say he wasn't. Just that it wasn't Solid Snake they showed.
Well, it doesn't really come across in text form ;-)I'm defending the decision to make this game, guys.

Is that for MGO or just MGSV?

After watching that, I think Quiet is Kurdish and quite possibly Sniper Wolf.
I simultaneously want more MGS and want to keep it all a surprise. It hurts more because I am getting it on PC, an extra 2 weeks.![]()
.Huh... That is not possible, breh.
We are supposed to get a HQ version of the trailer in a few hours. No promises though![]()
.DanDawkins @2m
Just watched the MGSV trailer(s). Wow. So much misdirection... but first 10 hours don't play that way at all. Feel it builds to a big twist

Hell YEAH!
I'm at E3 this year!!!
Spit it out.
This is without a doubt, the best trailer i have ever seen.
It's a pretty divisve trailer it seems. Best thing ever for MGS fans, but not a lot for non-fans. Very fine with that myself. It seems like a very personal trailer from Kojima for the fans.
Okay so the concept behind trailer #1 is called Linguistic Determinism; it's the idea, developed by Sapir and Whorf, that complex thought can only come about through language. A subsidiary of this, Linguistic Relativism, is the concept of the language one speaks as a native tongue influencing the thoughts of the person speaking it; for example, it was found that certain Native American tribes didn't have words for linear time measurement, and thus it was supposed that they would therefore be unable to conceptualise it.
The extent to which these theories are true is debatable, but it makes for interesting ideas. Can a person be controlled via language? What if the input stimulus a person receives whilst growing up is deficient, lacking words for such abstracts as freedom or creativity? What if an entire society lacks said input? Hypothetically it'd result in a tighter form of control than fear, or force, or money, or anything else could do -- because those being controlled would have no means of rebelling due to the content of their thoughts being orchestrated, if you will, by those who provide the input stimulus.
I seldom see this concept explored in popular media before, so I was incredibly surprised when I saw it so heavily featured in the trailer. Wonder how it will fight into the overall MGS mythos.
What if the social theme (gene, meme, scene, etc) is Lexeme this time around?
I like this idea, I think the social theme is "race" for this game, which still fits in the general notion pushed by the trailer. I actually think that there is some merit in linguistic determination when it comes to determinate a social predisposition towards a word or sentiment or even an idea. I hope the game can explore this concept as well as MGS2 did with memes (actual ones not post lol cats understanding of memes).
anyone have a link to the second trailer/one that has more footage?
What's that on his shoulder, like Liquid?Ocelot Unit?
How awesome is that?

Pretty sure it's a beret.
Pretty sure it's a beret.
So how many sides is Ocelot on? I've lost count.
Is Miller in Japan or Kojima in the States?
Miller was in Japan for ther premiere of Fury Road.
Ah alright. So weird to not have Kojima at e3.
With all the talk about the power of language Code Talker now sounds like a more important character.
How awesome is that?
