Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

That was a great, and very unexpected E3 from Sony. Uncharted looked gorgeous and incredibly detailed. Is it weird that it makes me yearn for a Last of Us sequel? Naughty dog really are a jewel in Sony's crown.

Happy to see that the next year is going to be great for folks on all platforms.

What games, pray tell, do you like if you think this is "hot garbage?"

I'm not going to throw up a resume of games that I think are masterpieces. If my opinion makes you uncomfortable, just relax bro. What I think doesn't invalidate how anyone else feels.

ND have production down pat at this point, they just need to make their gameplay, combat, the actual DOING STUFF have more weight. To be fair, most development studio's are having similar issues.

As a gamer, I'm no longer impressed by flashy lights and detailed trees. The core experience of the game is the most impressive thing to me, and none of the Uncharted games have delivered on that front.

At least for me.

Felt like I've seen that cookie cutter demo a million times at E3. I certainly don't have the patience for this type of stuff anymore BLOPS3 was already testing me and I did not feel this was a good bookend.

Why No God Of War 4 tonight why? Or The Quantic Dream game? We needed to get spoiled to th maximum, sadly we will have to wait for Gamescon or next E3 :'(.

Quantic Dream I think will be present at the Paris Games Week along Media Molecule. I think someone from SSM implied that we will see more of new GoW during this years Playstation Experience.

Aside from the shooting bits it was most definitely a scripted set piece that we all know, love and expect from an uncharted game.
The beauty of this set piece is that it seems to be open ended compared to previous entries. Take for example the jeep set piece: player controlled with multiple paths to take. In contrast, ROTR is incredibly linear in execution and looks like it's trying to outdo Uncharted 2.
I'm not impressed. Gameplay looked like hot garbage. I was hoping ND would be able to come up with some better enemy encounters, but this demo didn't deliver. The same cinematic experience that does not feel engaging or enjoyable to actually play, but has enough flashy shit going on screen to keep you distracted from how dull it feels.
My my, do you mind telling me what games you're looking forward to then?

I am not upset, I am just wondering what games you do find interesting since you used such a strong term. You can not like Uncharted as much as you want, but calling it hot garbage drew my attention.

Man that was amazing.

The details in the environments, the destruction, the multiple roads you can take and just the Naughty Dog cinematic style.

Can't wait for this

Because there are other events in the year, including the whole "playstation experience" thing.

They already had The Last Guardian, Shenmue 3, FFVII and Horizon. They can't show everything at E3

So that makes it hot garbage? I think you can use a better term than that hyperbolic statement.

Destructible cover, car scene, and some good banter. Liked everything I saw a lot. Destructible cover will be interesting for MP if it makes it in there.

That gameplay demo was so good that I think U4 is going to be even better than TLoU. Naughty Dog's crowning achievement is incoming and that's really saying something.

I love when games show you a destination far off in the distance and make you say "how the hell am I getting there?"

And then sure enough...

Various vehicles guys. :0
It’s very rewarding to finally show off all of our hard work on this new section of Drake’s escapades, set in a meticulously crafted, fictional, Madagascan city, and re-introducing his old friend and mentor, Victor Sullivan. Yes, in addition to his new, wild, rope swinging acrobatics, Nathan Drake will be able to drive various vehicles for the first time ever in franchise history. This is the most action-packed demo we’ve ever assembled for E3. If you’re at the show please stop by the Uncharted 4 theater in the PlayStation booth in West Hall to check out even more of what Drake and Sully are up to.

Can’t wait for Uncharted 4? Catch up on Nathan Drake’s adventures and get ready for his next one with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which releases October 9, 2015. Every copy of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection comes with access to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer beta. Also, if you live in the US and have an artistic itch, be sure to check out the We Love Fine UNCHARTED design contest happening now. Submit a winning design and you’ll be among the first to secure a copy of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End when it releases in 2016.

This is a funny joke post.

QD game is a lock for the Paris show and GOW4 is definitely going at PSX. They've pretty much spelled that out.

The sheer scale of that setpiece was great. Showed real player interaction and even choice it seemed(where to take the car, wouldn't be surprised if it had multiple end routes) which makes stuff like the Tomb Raider hyperlinear scripted segment look even weaker. This is how you do bombastic setpieces in a videogame.

How unnecessarily hostile. Grow up. Didn't even mention AC. Or imply that this was supposed to be.
Apologies for the snarky response. Historically Ive noticed that you usually compare games to Ubisoft titles, but I shouldn't have assumed anything and for that I am sorry.

I still maintain that it's an unfair criticism to make as you seem to want a different game than Uncharted. The series was built on these types of semi-linear set pieces, and to expect them to go in a completely different route is not reasonable.

I thought this looked incredible. What a perfect way to end Sony's conference. 2016 is going to be an insane year for good stuff.

I liked the 1st gameplay of Uncharted 4, but that one was trully amazing! I loved the settings while Drake was driving that car!

Yes, oh yes. Looks fucking incredible of course. I'm glad they are throwing vehicle set-pieces into the mix. That straight up looked like that amazing chase scene from Tintin.

Very impressive showing. Especially after seeing how far apart they're from the rival game. Still the aiming looks wonky. I wish they would barrow some more from TLOU's gunplay.

They're talking about the extended gameplay on the live feed with keighley. They say theres a story spoiler in the last 5 min of the extended version, so if anyone is on blackout, avoid that!

So that was an actual live demo to right?

Remember during the press conference when they first started it Drake was just standing there not moving but NPC's were still moving around and stuff which means it's obviously not a trailer. Then they restarted it and everything went fine.

Sadly I found that underwhelming. After boats sinking and chateaus burning down, driving a car down a mountain seems very tame.
Naughty Dog is saving its set pieces for us to experience. Last gen they used set pieces to sell us the game which spoiled it somewhat. They have taken a different approach for Uncharted 4. I don't think you have to worry about that.
LOL, people these days.
Ayyy, Whitman is a member now. See you tomorrow for game 6

Highlight of Sony's conference for myself. Just looks like so much fun and the environment as always is remarkably done with details. Cannot wait.

Honestly, hearing the banter between Nate and Sully is so pleasurable while playing Uncharted. I was laughing my head off during the demo.

Great demo, really appreciated how open the level looked. Naughty Dog crafts set pieces better than anyone in the industry. Much more exciting than the Tomb Raider footage.
