Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

So that was an actual live demo to right?

Remember during the press conference when they first started it Drake was just standing there not moving but NPC's were still moving around and stuff which means it's obviously not a trailer. Then they restarted it and everything went fine.
According to them on YT interview they had a backup ps4

Sadly I found that underwhelming. After boats sinking and chateaus burning down, driving a car down a mountain seems very tame.

Yeah, I hate to say I felt the same. The only mindblowing thing was the visuals at the start, and that crowd. The actual gameplay was nothing you couldn't imagine being in Uncharted 2, for example.

I mean, it still looks fantastic, it just doesn't look like any crazy leap forward in gameplay.

When did you drive a jeep in any of the previous Uncharteds?

What is this "leap forward in gameplay" you speak of?

As someone fairly burnt out on Uncharted, that looked pretty good. Of course, you don't see all the "LEAVING MISSION AREA" and GAME OVER screens that that sequence would probably be littered with during a real play session. Though, Naughty Dog does have that gift of making a limited scenario have the feel of something that is more open ended.

One pet peeve of mine, and it's not a knock on this game because just about every game does it, is that every weapon down to handguns apparently fires tracer rounds. I know it adds to situational awareness about where gunfire is coming from, but I wonder when if ever developers will leave this anachronism behind.

The game that finally broke the GAF. Jesus Christ. I can't help but think how many lightyears more advanced this looked in terms of complexity and execution compared to Gears 4 and new TR footages. Naughty Dog just operates on another level when it comes to this kind of games.

So that makes it hot garbage? I think you can use a better term than that hyperbolic statement.

okay stinks on ice :D

I am not upset, I am just wondering what games you do find interesting since you used such a strong term. You can not like Uncharted as much as you want, but calling it hot garbage drew my attention.

To be honest, For Honor looks like it's doing some good things on the action game front in terms of direct combat. Usage of the right stick in that fashion looks well thought out and implemented.

What leaving mission area screen? Why do you assume their level designer didn't fix all paths to lead to the intended position? They said as much during their interview.

I'm not impressed. Gameplay looked like hot garbage. I was hoping ND would be able to come up with some better enemy encounters, but this demo didn't deliver. The same cinematic experience that does not feel engaging or enjoyable to actually play, but has enough flashy shit going on screen to keep you distracted from how dull it feels.

......maybe not the game for you then?

They wouldn't do a sequence like this if you'd keep dying all the time in it. From their past games, I think they know what they're doing. This was a fairly open scenario though. You had to go from point A to point B, but it really looked like you could get just about any route that was available on the way.

Straley said on the stream that the section in the jeep, you are able to drive anywhere you want, the level designer designed it in a way that you will reach the destination no matter which way you go.

Beat.

That was epic!! The chase was amazing, and it looked like the world was so open in terms of your choice of route while driving. And holy shit the attention to detail was incredible! The sandbags Drake took cover behind were leaking during the shootout. Just ... incredible! I cannot wait to finally play this!!

Well that sounds good, didn't know.

Anyway after TLOU I should know better that they have thought everything through.

God almighty, how the fuck are they doing this?

Every animation and little detail, the actual openness of the whole level when you actually pay attention to all the possible routes he could've taken on foot in the market and in the jeep; all of that combined with the visual detail and holy crap.

I thought TLOU was a huge step up in gunplay from them, and the PS Experience demo showed how great encounters will be. The little misses here and there during the demo were obviously intentional to set up those mini scripted (but dynamic?) moments.

Absolutely astonishing what they're capable over there.

What matters is the experience as a whole. I don't give a shit if the game is distracting me with awesome physics as long as I come away from the experience having had fun. Isn't that what games are all about? I swear, some people like you are far too concerned about the intricacies of one aspect or another of certain games to the point where you can't enjoy the overall experience. I really feel sorry for you in that regard.

Damn, poor old Sully is really starting to show his age.

I think some people are discounting the density of what is being rendered, the physics, AI, destructability, etc. That section was like nothing I've seen before. The voice work is also fantastic.

This and the media molecule software make me really want a PS4. This was incredible. Puts almost everything else to shame.

I hope you can accomplish that level on foot, that would be amazing to explore that entire area and just soak in all that detail.

lol

I had a lot of enjoyment with Uncharted 2 but the gameplay let it down for me. As a game the actual game part left me feeling cold. Production value was amazing at the time, and it easily kept me going. But just like movies that have hundreds of millions tied up in shiny graphics, if the story doesn't deliver, I'm not going to be totally impressed or engrossed in what I'm watching.

The same thing applies to this. The gameplay hasn't sold me.

This post doesnt even deserve a proper response

Blown away. Best Uncharted demo they've ever done. It's like John Woo's minutia destruction porn had a baby with Bad Bays 2 and Jackie Chan's large scale wanton destruction set pieces.

Insane. This game might blow the entire rest of the series out of the water entirely.

The minute they started fucking up the bodegas Bad Boys popped into my head and damn we're at the point were games can achieve that.
