Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

I have been trying to figure of the two consoles will sit proudly next to my WiiU, and the PS4 has officially won it's spot as my other console to sit underneath my HDTV. And it will be Sony's first.

After seeing this it looks like they would really have no problems making an open world, at least AssCreed sized game with their tech and still maintain fidelity. So detailed.

Now Nathan Drake isn't only a mass murderer, he destroys peoples livelihood by driving through their market. Monster.

I wasnt very keen on UC4, couldnt bring myself to beat UC3. But that was great. Looked too good.
Only small nit pick was the water fx were really lacking when the jeep drove over water. Just stood out with how excellent everything else was.

The beauty of this set piece is that it seems to be open ended compared to previous entries. Take for example the jeep set piece: player controlled with multiple paths to take. In contrast, ROTR is incredibly linear in execution and looks like it's trying to outdo Uncharted 2.
Did they confirm that there were multiple paths to take during the jeep segment? Cause that would be really good for replayability. Dynamic set pieces where you choose paths would be a game changer.

Apologies for the snarky response. Historically Ive noticed that you usually compare games to Ubisoft titles, but I shouldn't have assumed anything and for that I am sorry.

I still maintain that it's an unfair criticism to make as you seem to want a different game than Uncharted. The series was built on these types of semi-linear set pieces, and to expect them to go in a completely different route is not reasonable.
Yea I don't do that unless someone else brings it up first. And I don't want a different game than Uncharted, I just would've liked to see more of what they were advertising at psx.

Guys, this is not the first Uncharted game with destructible crates.

It wasn't just crates though, it was everything. The enemies forced you out of cover far more than in any previous game, and it looked much more dynamic. Even the driving sections looked like they had good amounts of options to pick from.

Far less linear than other games.

This fucking E3, and especially this trailer, made it so clear who the leaders are and who the imitators are.

Like you look at this, this insane destruction, wily dialogue, instantly likable guys, and crazy variety within a five minute demo.... then you look at Tomb Raider which is still busy trying to ape Uncharted 1.

. Horizon and U4 look brilliant :) Greatness is still awaiting, but now I can see it in the distance.

Was hoping for a lengthier story trailer (really wanted to see Elena, Chloe, and Charlie) but the gameplay looks fantastic. Hope we get footage of the second half of the demo soon.

That was beautiful man, game totally subverted my expectations. I fully expected a kill 100 guys till you get to destination standard affair in the beginning but then BAM, awesome jeep section showcasing epic scale with multiple paths, fantastic destructibility and dat oh so good banter. I missed you Uncharted.

They did in the after show interview with Geoff. I saw it in the theater so I don't have a link but they talked about how you could take different paths down and different things would happen.

Yeah it's definitely what the series needed and a really good idea to mix things up. The difference between crazy mobility and traversal and then dead-stopped, locked into cover shooting was always a bit jarring. Hopefully everything always breaking forces a little more movement and traversal into the gunfights.

Also - this pissed on R@D's chips visually IMO (but so did Horizon IMO).

So much happening in the environments, so much life and movement in stark contrast to the beautiful museum R@D built.

Yes, they talked about it in the YouTube interview with Keighly. There are multiple paths, they all eventually lead to the bottom of the mountain but you are in full control of the jeep. They said the jeep driving was "core mechanics" several times, as in it's a part of the core gameplay system that you use throughout the game like traversal or the rope, and that they use the core mechanics in interesting ways. So not only will you see a landmark in the distance and drive to it, but the jeep will be used in combat, or puzzle solving.

By the way, what you guys get? I couldn't go.

It has the most advanced physics system I ever saw. Even grain bags that protect ou from nuclear bombs in any other game without them getting any scratch, now In Uncharted 4 they get pierced by balls and grains leak through the holes which empties the bags thus making you less protected. This little detail has never been done before. I can enumerate all the fancy physics details but it would be longer than the video itself. Really amazing job.
I hope folks read this. That part alone was the real wtf moment for me. Damn shit was impressive.
They set the bar so far from TombRaider they'll need fucking warp drives to catch up.

okay I'll just add to the echo chamber.

GAME LOOKS ORSUM GUYS.

It's fine to dislike things you silly goose and disliking things with hyperbole can be fun. Games don't have to be serious business.

Oh im sure it can be fun for you but you gotta understand no one will take you seriously. Calling Uncharted 4's gameplay "hot garbage" lol.

The game that finally broke the GAF. Jesus Christ. I can't help but think how many lightyears more advanced this looked in terms of complexity and execution compared to Gears 4 and new TR footages. Naughty Dog just operates on another level when it comes to this kind of games.

Great demo, really appreciated how open the level looked. Naughty Dog crafts set pieces better than anyone in the industry. Much more exciting than the Tomb Raider footage.

I hate to compare Rise to U4 but the new Rise footage is really lame. Like maybe they chose a lame gameplay segment to show off. Like ok the snowy scenery looks great and characters look nice but action-sequence wise? It was boring. That scene reminded me of Uncharted 3 where you are running out of the sinking sand castle. Idk.

Not saying U4 is revolutionary but that scene in the marketplace shoot out and driving scene is right out of a movie. The amount of visuals like particle effects, shit blowing off and flying everywhere just sell the game for me. Christ I was just amazed on the animations. The armored car in the background looked more exciting than anything in the RISE demo for sure.

That plus the ND touch. Cant wait for this game.

Yes. Stragley confirmed that any path you take ends up leading to the tower, hence the multiple roads we saw during gameplay.

What are you referring to when you say what they advertised at psx? Open ended gameplay?

These games do look far more impressive because you get to do a lot more in fantastic and beautiful environments instead of the bog standard affair of the order.

Hes calling you pathetic because you compared destructable crates to what they displayed today.

No I didn't. Several people specifically brought up destructible cover and my post was a general response to them. Why that simple remark would invoke such a harsh response is beyond me, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Man, what a wonderful way to end the conference. I love Uncharted so much.

The glitches if anything nailed home they brought the real deal game to show off and it's beautiful.

Man, Battlefront, Ratchet, and now Uncharted. I am complete. That gameplay demo gave me the vibes of the Uncharted 2 demo.

Yeah the gameplay looks terrible. I hate having levels with tons of viable paths, destructive cover, verticality, tons of objects to react to gunfire and explosions. And the enemies, man I hate how they react to the bullets being fired and how snappy the melee to gun combat is, it makes it look so stupid and scrappy like its from an action adventure movie or something.

Your post made a ridiculous comparison that you knew would get people worked up, congrats for succeeding

If you think your post has merit then i would say you havent watched the demo.
