What do you want from Sony's E3?

Understood, but there is still the question of how much funding is backing it. Watch the video, they are speaking of how they can expand the game if they reach certain goals.

What do you think the all-in budget for this game will be?

If you are going to put a game out there, you fund it yourself and say look how great we are. We are bringing a series back from the dead. You don't bring it out at E3 and say hey everyone please pay for this game we don't really want to fund, but make sure to give us credit.

What I think will be more interesting is rather than the $ amount its the unit count. The $ may get it funded, but the team backing it needs to know that there is a market beyond those donating to the cause. Shenmue has an incredibly rabid fanbase which you see in the rapid funding, the question for Sony is can we sell enough copies outside of those whom funded it.

I still don't get why they won't accept funding from Sony? I can't believe Sony wouldn't fund $2 million. To have them out there on their stage....

There must be a reason they are going this route. Also don't certain games use KS as a base to show the fan interest is there, then get full funding later? If not, it feels like they are doing this method by choice and rejected further funding? I can't believe they weren't offered funding. It's too unbelievable. At $2 million, l can't believe Sony would make it a focus of their show, and at the same time wouldn't fund their $2 million budget?

Maybe I don't get how this works, or I underestimate what Sony would fund?

PC will have the best iteration of any game. I don't need to play inferior console editions.

How much longer do you think consoles will exist? I give it one more console cycle after this one.

You're missing the point. Here's a hint,
I follow games first over the platforms.

It's not as if we don't choose the best possible version of a game, you don't seem to understand why some of us are willing and able to buy a handheld or console for games that only exist there.

Unfucking believable.

Can't believe all 3 in one conference.

You don't speak for the average gamer though, there are tonnes of reason to buy a ps4.

He should have clarified...instead of making blanket statements.

I edited my post to reflect my personal interests, and those of PC gamers I'm speaking to on Steam & Battle.net at the moment.

The PS4 is a good device with a good lineup of games, but it looks like 2016 is the year I'll jump back in.

The conference was amazing!!! Final Fantasy 7, TLG and Shenmue 3 was enough for me. What a ride. Wish none of this leaked before, would have been crazy

I think this will go down as one a conference of legend. Literally everything most of you guys fantacized about for so long, showed up.

The COD announcement all but confirms that Socom, Warhwk and resistance are dead. Why make your own shooter when you can just use the money to buy COD dlc and marketing. Sucks though cause I do believe there's a market for both.

The way it sounded, PlayStation will be the home of Call of Duty in general for the next few years. They worded it very strongly. This is not a one year deal, and it's pretty arbitrary to think it's a good deal some years, and a bad deal other years because you randomly decided not to think this iteration looks poor.

The idea is obviously about how big the news is, regardless of any independent analysis of how the game turned out. I hate all Call of Duty games since they went modern FPS with Modern Warfare 1, and yet any year someone has a marketing deal with the series is huge news.

Indeed. People need to look at the bigger picture. I still remember people way back in 2009 saying it was no big deal when MS got the timed-dlc rights to MW2.

We all know how that turned out.

I'm sorry. But anyone who seriously thinks this was anything less than legendary is off their rockers and is way too salty. This was FUCKING HISTORIC.

Even if you, yourself aren't particularly interested in the games, how can you not recognize what went down tonight.

LOOK AT THAT FUCKING POLL. YOU SEE THAT?

That was a FUCKING JOKE POLL.

AND WE GOT ALL FUCKING 3 ANYWAYS.

BELIEVE.

This.

This conference was nothing short of legendary. E3 Hall of fame material.

So GAF, I made a bet with myself, rather stupidly, today.

I will eat a wasabi & jalapeño sandwich and Periscope it if FF7 full remake (not PC port) is at Sony's conference.

I added a top-up shortly afterwards.

If we get a trifecta of Shenmue (1, 2 or 3), The Last Guardian, and FF7 remake, I will grind and sprinkle ghost peppers in the sandwich.

Not backing down from this.

As soon as the ghost peppers arrive I will Periscope the whole ordeal. Worth it for a legendary conference, though.

It's a way to understand what kind of demand actually is out there so that they can calibrate investements in the project.
They want to see how many people are actually willing to pay money for this.
Do not forget that we're talking about a 15 years old interrupted series which didn't find colossal commercial success even back then.
But Sony is clearly in to fund this project and make it a reality.

Yeah, I guess it's just the lack of nostalgia for me that makes the announcement so uninteresting. But that's also missing for me with Shenmue, and I know people wanted that. I just honestly had no idea about FF7Remake.

Just you wait for a couple of decades for the remake of a game that you absolutely loved, that had a huge market presence and was literally a game changer to finally get announced. Then you'll understand. ;)

Objectively speaking :p

"We got a CGI trailer for a Playstation One game!"

Objectively speaking, one of the legendary 3 megatons today would had handily win e3. They had 3..

I mean dude, Final Fantasy 7R, Shenmue 3 and TLG?!

This is the stuff of legends.

Are you one of those people that need an IMO after every sentence to understand that when people say things like that, they're usually, no, always opinions?

No I call people out on silly blanket statements, he had no information in his post that he ahd a PC and that he played Multiplats on that. There are many trolls going around spreading the PS4 has no games BS Saying there is no reason to own a PS4 except BB is wrong period whether he meant it for himself or not..BB is hardly the only good exclusive on ps4. Unless only holiday AA games count?

Oh, I'm sure I will! This isn't the time for me though 😁

Please make a thread a few days in advanced.

This is a hellcrow eating for the ages. Do it for all of the non-believers.

EA Access was the lowest point of the conference and you have that a positive? The person you quoted a lot of "good points" missing from the Sony conference, like Hitman, Star Wars, SFV and much much more.

Sony had higher highs and a lot more highs than Microsoft. No two ways about it.

They had the 3 megatons, but apart from that its down to personal taste.

Sony won in my eyes but MS still had a very good conference, lots of good content in games, OS and hardware.

I was gonna decide which next gen system to get after E3 (currently own a low end PC R7260 and a PS3) now I am more puzzled then B4 though I'am stating to lean towards PS4 uncharted and shenmue + better multiplats is pushing me but the X1's fall line up, xbox live and constant OS improvement are calling me right back to the green.

Wow. Good luck.

You're gonna need it.

It's not a fucking blanket statement when someone says "no reason to get a PS4". It's someone saying THEY have no reason to get a PS4.

e: whatever, you showed your preference in the MS conf thread, I'm done talking to you

Most PS4 owners only like the system for Bloodborne, and Bloodborne wasn't there.

Either that or most of them are younger than 30 and don't care about FF7 or Shenmue.
lmao what the fuck are you talking about? in a thread of dumb comments, this is the cherry on a shit sundae.

I mean I honestly don't care about either of those games but the magnitude of them being there cannot be denied. Plus Horizon looks incredible and Uncharted 4 is doing some really impressive things with tech and gameplay. Ah well. Casuals gonna casual, I suppose.

Sony's been killing it the last few years of gamer-focused E3 conferences.

I remember a few years ago when they had started to devolve into the same "blah blah cross media entertainment experience" tone set by Microsoft.

Pretty much agree with all this.

Wow you agree with that long ass shitpost " Noone should be excited because, yeah, that's why, I don't like stuff " " hand job for cod, read my book during x, wank fest "

At least be happy for other people and admit you don't like 98% of games out there.

That makes more sense. Sorry if my post was dumb.

My post was in reply to someone that was implying that because of the way they talk about stretch goals, the games budget is guaranteed to be $2 million and stay that low.

I don't think you know what objectively means if you're talking about "winning E3" lol

Other than Horizon they were just retreading the same ground. (Maybe one other thing?, I don't remember)
I didn't mention the quality of the games. I'm talking new I.P

Dude, they're video games. If I use the word pandering you can probably recognize that I'm not calling it immoral or something to that extreme. You know how words work and you know that context can change things. Go online and you can find hundreds of instances of people using pandering and video games together. Stop creating some non-argument.

Pro-tip: Get a dictionary. When you say something is lacklustre then yes you are talking about the quality, if you're talking about new IP's then perhaps make that clear by using useful phrases such as "new" or "IP". If you use the word pandering then you are talking about something immoral or distasteful because that is what the word means. I'm sure I could go online and find tens of thousands of examples of people incorrectly using words they dont fully understand, it still wouldnt make that usage correct (just like context isnt a magic trick that makes it correct either).

Man... what an absolutely legendary conference. TLG, FF7 Remake and Shenmue 3 all in the same day? Just incredible. I was in total disbelief watching it all.

Seeing TLG again was fantastic; it looked so dang good! It was one of the reasons why I bought a PS3 so many years ago, and now I guess I'll be buying a PS4 for it, haha!

And holy sh*t at Horizon! I can't believe how amazing it looked! I really, really want to see more of it. Easily the most exciting new game of the show for me so far.

I'm curious. Did any other conferences impress you with any games shown? I agree with you Horizon was wow. But you said nothing else really impressed you. So I'm kind of curious if anything else at E3 has? Or if you feel E3 overall was a big let down.

That wad the only Sony game that unexpectedly impressed me. Same thing with Sea of thieves for Xbox.

Console side of things... Uncharted, halo 5, Rare's sea of thieves, Rare Collection and Horizon.

PC:
Battlefront looked pretty polished and fun, fallout 4. Both of which ill buy on PC prob in the spring to make use of graphics.

And I should mention that SC trumps NMS IMHO in all aspects.

Have fun! I ate some ghost pepper beef jerky today and had fire diarrhea for several hours. It's just as hot coming out as it is going in.

see, when i talk about pacing and presenting shit, that's what i meant. show your best stuff, not everything. they kept the conference to 90 minutes this year, which is their shortest conference in a while. as absolutely unexcited as i could possibly be for ffvii remake (because another nomura final fantasy game in an ocean world of nomura final fantasy games is really grating to me on a personal level), that shit is huge.

last guardian is something i have mixed feelings on. it's sort of like final fantasy versus xiii resurfacing where now i'm no longer looking forward to the product because too much time has passed. instead of excitement, there's just exasperation. on the other hand, it's about goddamn time (like releasing a 25 year old rom).

the big surprise was actually shenmue iii though, the game that wasn't going to happen without fan support and will happen sometime tonight. this was a franchise that was dead, that after ten years of clamoring for, is being revived. it's like kid icarus for sega or something. i'm backing it, but i seriously need a physical ps4 version somewhere.

while i might have mixed thoughts on all of these games (well, shenmue iii is super positive all around), this conference will go down as the one where sony revealed final fantasy vii remake, shenmue iii, and the last guardian all at once. it's a really positive thing that happened. these are all products that people can play and get excited for. this is not the shitty move of two years ago when they announced that the ps4 would have the same features as the ps1 by not copying the competition, and then amidst a cheering crowd, announced a shitty way they were copying the competition. and because there were no blunders or serious down points in their conference this year, i think it will go down as one of the most memorable ever. i don't know if such a trifecta can ever be hit like that ever again. maybe half-life 3, beyond good & evil 2, and skies of arcadia 2.

actually, that would be way better.

Couldn't have said it better myself. What a show.
