I don't get the love for this conference.

FF7 remake doesn't do much for me. I played it on the ps one. Yes better graphics etc but I don't get the hype. I was hyped for Rare collection as it is so many games and most I haven't played I admit but this wasn't exactly a megaton for me.

The last guardian re reveal was interesting. I never enjoyed ico and thought this game was dead like most non believers!

Anniversary ps4 controller is cool but rubs salt in my wounds as I was desperate for an anniversary console lol.

COD was COD... Getting dlc first is a bit thing but I'm done with their dlc never again as the maps have been Awful for ghosts and AW.

Hitman...I love hitman but hated the most recent one. I will wait for gaffer thoughts after release. Dlc timed exclusive isn't a bit thing as the games don't seem to have the appeal they once did.

No man's sky. The demo looked boring to me. I don't understand what you do it in except explore. It looks like a single player mmo.

I know it may seem that this is a very negative post and people may have seen I was excited about a few of the Xbox stuff (thought it was 7/10) on the thread but this conference was a chance for Sony to prove to me that I should save for a ps4. In my opinion they have failed to do that.

I still don't get why they won't accept funding from Sony? I can't believe Sony wouldn't fund $2 million. To have them out there on their stage....

There must be a reason they are going this route. Also don't certain games use KS as a base to show the fan interest is there, then get full funding later? If not, it feels like they are doing this method by choice and rejected further funding? I can't believe they weren't offered funding. It's too unbelievable. At $2 million, l can't believe Sony would make it a focus of their show, and at the same time wouldn't fund their $2 million budget?

Maybe I don't get how this works, or I underestimate what Sony would fund?

From what I understand, they hit the $2 mil goal, Sony funds the rest. At least that's what other people are saying. Considering the first game is still one of the most expensive games of all time, he's not competing the trilogy on $2mil. Someone does need to do a HD collection though...

I think this will go down as one a conference of legend. Literally everything most of you guys fantacized about for so long, showed up.

The COD announcement all but confirms that Socom, Warhwk and resistance are dead. Why make your own shooter when you can just use the money to buy COD dlc and marketing. Sucks though cause I do believe there's a market for both.
Ohhh I don't know. If you had said this before today I would have completely agreed... but, with the appearance of Shenmue 3, all hope for a new proper Socom is alive within me.

I thought H-Hour debacle completely ended any and all hope I had for SOCOM but after today, after Shenmue3 me ol' son... I believe; I believe greatness awaits. Nothing is impossible.

So GAF, I made a bet with myself, rather stupidly, today.

I added a top-up shortly afterwards.

That was 14 or so hours ago. Here we are now.

Not backing down from this.

As soon as the ghost peppers arrive I will Periscope the whole ordeal. Worth it for a legendary conference, though.

Never bet against Sony. Hope you learn your lesson well ;P

I wish that was the case but people will have to rally behind it like they did with Shenmue for it to happen.

That's what I assumed too...seriously some people will NEVER be happy. We're getting the game and that's all that matters.

Im in awe anyone could complain about that conf. My theater was constant hyped. They could have used another hour.Disappointed no persona 5 or KH collection.

I'm sure they will accept funding from them, and I'm sure that there is money waiting. Sony just didn't want to commit the cash.

Sony likely said, hey come out on stage and launch a kickstarter. Hit your target and we will talk about funding. Sony was too scared to fund it so they are using a kickstarter so that someone upstairs will greenlight some funding. Sony is trying to significantly reduce risk. If the game drags on for eternity or underwhelms they don't look like the driving force.

Does anyone really think that Yu Suzuki really needed to announce a Kickstarter on stage at E3? He could have done this a year ago and gotten the same reaction.

He really should have launched a KS himself and pitted the publishers against each other. He would probably have gotten a better deal in the end.

Ah okay. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I just keep seeing people being critical of the game, because how can it be good on that budget etc. But this makes much more sense. Thanks for clarifying guys.

Is any of this really a bad thing? I mean, was this bad for Sony? Seemed like a big win for them.

EDIT: I see, you think they should have went for all Publishers and had them bid on it. I see.

IMHO it's sort of a publicity stunt. They know they can get $2million easy from fans but that's not enough to actually make the game. That's a good enough chunk of change though to secure further funding.

Now Yu can go look, we raised $2mil overnight - there is demand for this game to be made and get a publisher to pay for the rest.

Geoff Keighley stream is the same though. I watch a little bit after the show when they're talking and grading sony show. It mostly got just B from them.

I was shocked by this too. It's such a weird sentiment to see in certain places. Sony showed nothing but games, most of which with direct gameplay along with 3 of the most wanted titles in gaming history and they get a B/tied with MS/Sony has no games/generic bullshit criticisms. On the other hand, MS got solid reviews for showing Halo/Gears/Forza for the 10th straight year along with a bunch of 3rd party titles that will look and perform the worst on Xbox. Besthesda showed like 4 games at their event and EA's was an absolute dumpster fire. It's ridiculous how little credit Sony is getting from some places for pulling off one of the best E3s of all time.

battlefront looked great. Though TLG demo was same as we saw 8 years ago, that was fucking stupid. Just to hype people?

and no date for Uncharted making me think it will make another appearance at next year E3. They are not releasing their big game without announcing a date on a big stage.

fuck, this was another 2013 conference, they got everyone with the hype. But disappointing line up for this year.

I saw someone post that they only wished that Sony would have revealed a way to play your Music and Videos from an external hard drive.

The thread is moving fast and I cannot find the post. Sony just put the Media Player on your PS4 OS. You click it to download it. You can stream your media from your PC via DLNA, or you can play your media from an external drive.

So whomever you are, you got just what you wanted. Turn on your PS4 and look right there in the OS, its there.

People saying they don't understand why we wanted a FF7 remake just baffle me. Its perfectly okay to not like the game or find it overrated (I actually prefer FF9 to FF7) as all opinions are valid but to us, 25 year-old and over, when this game came out in 1997 it was a historical moment in the gaming industry. It needed to be remade as an homage.

I'm getting a weird feeling from the whole of gaming press like why did they bother coming if they're just gonna be down on everything(. does anyone know of an outlet they would classify as excited about games? Gosh darn I miss old school 1up.

That's why gaming journalism is getting it's ass kicked by YouTubers.

I honestly thought everyone was kidding by now about NMS, it's painfully obvious what to do and I've never watched anything but a few trailers. Collect resources, building your capacity to explore with the goal of finally reaching the centre of the universe. And there's enemies thrown in.
And tons of other players but I don't know if they leave marks or are in there with you multiplayer

I never thought I would see a better conference than Sony's reaction to the initial Xbox One debacle. But I'm so glad I was wrong. Sitting in a crowded theater hearing the announcements of not one, not two, but three games no one thought would ever see the light of day was definitely one of the greatest nights of my gaming life. The reactions were priceless. There is almost nothing left that Sony can do to surprise me in the next few years after this unless they somehow resurrect Silent Hills.

I honestly don't mind this approach at all. Without it, we might not get the game at all. With it, I just contributed $29 to get the game and supported its development at the same time.

I thought it was the opposite? Last week we were criticizing the gaming press for just being corporate shills or whatever and just reposting corporate PR. Now they hate videogames and are always down on everything?

It's getting salty in here.

This was the best showing of Sony ever. I was at the theater watching the conference and I find it unbelievable that everything rumored came true...rumors kind of destroyed the shock and awe that the surprises would have been though...

No, it must be the nostalgia blinding you! Their marketing did it's trick and FORCED you to like FF VII back then! NOW YOU'LL SEE IT WAS NEVER GOOD

I played the game for the first time when I was like 15 or 16 back in 2007. I've replayed it a bunch of times since then. I love how some people still try to make it seem like the only way I can love it is because of ~nostalgia~.

It's getting salty in here.

:/

There's a Giant Bomb thread.

Oh yeah, of course. Forgot about that. Thanks!

As I look back on things...

FFVII and Shenmue we likely wont see for 3-5 years. Thats a long ass time. Yu takes ages to make his games. FFVII probably wont even get going until after KH3. These are crazy early reveals.

Last Guardian - you cant disappear for 7 years and come back looking exactly the same. The only game that I can even remotely compare its situation to is Team Fortress 2. We all know what the disappearance act turned that game into.

The best game of this conf was probably Horizon. Really interesting combo of indians and technology - with what seemed like some deep shooting gameplay (shooting guns off of the enemies for example).

ok GAF, dreams do come true. Three games we had all given up on, came back out of no where. This is the conference we always wanted. I took me a while to realize that Sony didn't waste any time on sales figures or other nonsense. Save it for the investors. These conferences are about games.
