Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

Dat rice pouring out of holes.

The game that finally broke the GAF. Jesus Christ. I can't help but think how many lightyears more advanced this looked in terms of complexity and execution compared to Gears 4 and new TR footages. Naughty Dog just operates on another level when it comes to this kind of games.

This is true.

This was un-fucking-beliveable. As in, HOLY SHIT! The smooth transitions, the complex animations, the smoke effects, the fantastic destruction, the superb models and texture, and that GODLY lighting, when the chase scene in the Jeep starts and the car drives down the narrow streets...It looked real at times, and a friend of mine who is no big Videogames fan was constantly commenting on how realistic the whole thing was.
Bravo ND, bravo! Just when I get jaded, you come around and make me smile and cheer like a teenager again.
W.....O......W!

I'm not going to throw up a resume of games that I think are masterpieces. If my opinion makes you uncomfortable, just relax bro. What I think doesn't invalidate how anyone else feels.

ND have production down pat at this point, they just need to make their gameplay, combat, the actual DOING STUFF have more weight. To be fair, most development studio's are having similar issues.

As a gamer, I'm no longer impressed by flashy lights and detailed trees. The core experience of the game is the most impressive thing to me, and none of the Uncharted games have delivered on that front.

At least for me.

But what about the original U4 gameplay reveal? What did you think about that?

95 plus on metacritic coming up. A little surprised in some of the effects though, for instance the lack of water splash during the driving. Must be really pushing to finish this.

damn. what if "a thief's end" is really sully kicking the bucket?

I mean in UC3
Ellie warns Drake that Sully will follow him to the death and she begged Nathan not to ask him to do that....... I bet you're 100% right with this.

Wow! I mean... I have faith in ND but that shit seriously looked way too good to be true! That's the most impressive gp footage I've ever seen. I'm praying it looks that good upon release. Mindblowing.

On repeated watch there is some clever trickery going on with the driving segment. The truck always obscures your path and there's always a convenient side road that the player is led down.

To get it just right and have the player know where to go without breaking the flow of the set piece would have been an enormous task.

Looks incredible. Can't wait to play it.

I'm definitely curious to see how that segment will turn out in the final product.

According to Druckmann there are multiple paths on the driving segment. But I agree they are definitely very clever with driving you in the right direction

I thought the exploration was tremendous, played very well to Uncharted's strength of cultivating the spirit of adventure and exploration. A tad linear, but that comes with the territory of a video demonstration. I was happy that the combat arena gave you avenues to gain an advantage, but as with the other Uncharted games I thought the overall encounter, AI and the way the battle played out was a bit too much of the same and didn't explore the potential they have to work with. It came off as very scripted.

I would have loved to see more of Drake's climbing ability play into combat. With that aspect being so strong in exploration, I would love it if it became more integrated into combat situations beyond obvious progression. Eg, using trees, vines and the jungle to sneak his way through or set up distractions.

Gun combat looks a bit lame to me, but going through that cave looked cool.

The game looks amazing. I've never played any uncharted game but I loved the last Tomb Raider so I'll probably love this to death.
I love destructible environments on top of that, so I'm sold on a PS4.

OMG the guy that was punching Nathan had a reaction on his face when he noticed Sully. Holy shit the attention to detail is incredible.

OFC, all their shirts get wrinkles in that scene and otehr ones, when you see clsoe ups, but this has been done since part 3. Now we have the extra dynamic cloth simulation and hair and chest hair physics. :D

I jsut liked Sully's reaction when saying first tim driving and the we'll be out of your way in a second, it was choregraphed with convincning animations.
Did anyone notice the oil container moving and wasn't stuck like in other games? Everything moves in this game.

That was a pretty intense demo, everything about it was just screaming of high quality. As long as the story is there this will be an amazing game no doubt.

Holy fuck, just got home from work and watched this. Jesus Christ this was insane! I swear I had a smile on my face the whole time, lol. Are they still pushing for 60fps? At this point honestly with those graphics at a solid 30fps I'm actually good with that. Damn...

I do wonder how much of the animations are just preset triggers, but even so, that's still quite a bit of detail and stuff going on.
