Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

I didn't think Naughty Dog could top the uncharted 2 demo but got damn that one did it. Amazing, after 3 I didn't want to play another uncharted... Or so I thought

This looks amazing.

Just when you think Naughty Dog's competitors are catching up, they show that they are still miles ahead of everybody else when it comes to this kind of game.

I looked at this and I thought "wow, interesting background", then the explosion happened at the tower by the distance and I went "ok, we're not REALLY going to go there" and then BAM a chase sequence followed by landing on a jeep. At the point I was like "NO. FUCKING. WAY. THAT'S ACTUALLY A RENDERED ENVIRONMENT?" Then the jeep showcased multiple paths and all that and by the time they've reached the tower, I was still contemplating by the amount of destruction, physics and all these chaotic elements without a hitch in the frame rate. Unbelievable.

Just imagine. JUST IMAGINE. They were one design factor away from making an open world game! And they treat it as a prop for a chase experience. Good lord. Nobody can ever make the excuse that Uncharted is restricted by tech now.

Naughty Dog put insanely huge amounts of work in for this moment. The "background" turning out to be as real as a Rockstar one is simply amazing.

It's everything you wanted when things like this happened on PS3.

I think I've been watching too much Friends, because that new Elena design looks like Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) to me.

Not complaining. Just sharing.

It probably isn't anywhere near an open world game unfortunately. The entire demo level is probably more like Killzone Shadowfall where the overall path is linear (in this case you have to hit the tower and then have to get to the bridge), with some alternate paths along the way.

I bet the level design is also all over the place, organised for most efficiency rather a actually winding down through a modelled town.

Doesn't stop it looking amazing, but you should always assume massive amounts of smoke and mirrors

I've thought about it especially when compare the jeep sequence at part 1. I would assume that, if clipped out, you can traverse the area where the jeep traverses and every road I've seen seems like an option to go through. Add the wide area from the tower to the starting point is pretty much given enough space for an open-world experience.

Plenty of physics and destruction.

Lost for words with the demo but this is why l got a ps4 as Sony first party just impress me.

I didn't have much hype for Uncharted 4 before this gameplay demo, but that looked awesome!

My thoughts exactly. I wasn't overly fussed about it, but good god that looked incredibly exciting and I just want to play it myself now!

This looks amazing.

They really are masters at their craft. Puts the whole genre into context when they're so damn far out in front.

Sony devs really are so far ahead of third parties when it comes to graphics on ps4 it's mind boggling

It's not that surprising really, as third party devs need to build their games around the least powerful hardware while Sony devs get the extra power and in-house expertise and probably tech-sharing with their sibling studios. You'll probably see in-house MS games like Quantum Theory and Halo 5 looking better than third party equivalents as well.

In terms of elena's and nate's design, there's a lot of similar design language taken from The Last of Us - much more mature/realistic renders.

I hear you!

I saw that sequence and immediately had similar thoughts, then I also immediately followed up that thought with a want. Which is I really want Naughty Dog to make an open world game again using their latest tech.

How is it even possible? How can they render so much details just for one chase sequence? Why is this game not taking 5 years to make? How?
