I wouldn't trust Sakamoto with the game anyway. If it was between him and nothing, I'm not sure where I'd fall.
...So then, again, assuming Retro isn't working on it, you would rather Metroid remain dormant? Otherwise your expectations for how Nintendo is supposed to handle this gets so insanely specific that it's no wonder the fanbase gets so worked up.
I feel like the biggest of Metroid fans have kind of worked themselves into an impossible position thanks to their hyped-up level of expectation. As much as folks would love for Metroid to be a massive top-tier Nintendo franchise and a perennial showpiece for their technology, it just...isn't. Super Metroid was a revelation at the time, Metroid Prime is (to most) a faithful recreation of that feeling in 3-D for the first time. Other than that (and, maybe, the Other M announcement trailer), when has Metroid ever been considered a major market-pusher for Nintendo? How many installments have really come out that have truly satisfied the fanbase?
Again I'm probably coming off in this topic more aggressively than I'd really like to, but I was reading through some of the early impressions in this topic shortly after the Digital Event ended and it felt like people have completely lost perspective.
