Emulating 360 is probably be a lot easier (and less expensive) than emulating PS3
People understand that but there is a massive library of PS1/2 games as well.

No it's not..
Expected response. PSNow is their solution to BC.
What's so bad with giving your console more options? I don't like this dismissal of bc and I hope they change their mind.
If bc isn't a big deal then why spend all of that money on Gakai to have people stream PS3 games then?
No it's not.
Sony didn't invest tens (hundreds?) of millions in streaming tech simply because of backwards compatibility.
I have tons of games that i missed last gen so looks like ill buy xbone with my ps4.
In previous generations, yes. Difference is that people have vast XBLA libraries they will be able to access now on XBO, and will assuredly use. It's absolutely true that it is highly requested but used little.
It's a PR home run for Microsoft, though.
We are placing our bets on things like SharePlay, on things like Play as you Download, and things like Suspend/Resume.
All that talk about how impossible it would be to have BC on either of those consoles is still ringing in my ears. It does seem a bit silly now, the only problem according to Spencer on the Giant Bomb Day 1 show is developer/publisher permittance and kinect + multiple DVD games.
This looks like an extremly efficient form of BC!
You act like making Cell based games work on ps4 is as easy as 360 to x1...context people.
MS made it sound like it was full BC, it was not, instead it is select titles devs have to update to work like 360. They made it sound way better then it is.
PS3 is cell and PS4 is based on PC CPU. They can't even do it even if they wanted to, right?
Yup. He said 12% say they want it, only 5% actually use it.

This isn't like the last gen. I have a ton of xbla and PSN titles that are orphaned without BC. Yes I do still play a lot of my arcade titles.
Without BC I will be a LOT more picky choosing which platform I buy digital titles for. Don't support my older purchases? Then they will be the last purchases I make there.... Very simple
PS Now is shit in comparison to backward compatibility. Let's be real here.
I'm hoping for more publishers to jump on this.
The Xbox solution is really messy, uneven, and less than ideal, tbh. If you can't have actual native BC I would much prefer a streaming solution, if it meant the games worked/looked exactly as they once did, and I wasn't barred by what's supported and what isn't.
So Sony want us to subscribe to something and rent games which we have to stream and use our internet data to play instead of being able to just pop the game in and install it and play it for however long we want free of charge.

they said there's no work involved they just need permission from the publisher

PSNow is garbage. Renting games you already own? Please. Microsoft really did the right thing here. It legitimately shocked me.
For select titles. and ps now is not really about backwards compatibilty, that was a silly dig at the conference, makes no sense. PS now is a future platform, streaming to other devices.
he is right about barely anyone using it, grossly overrated feature, especially limited titles like MS has.
I highly doubt that. Id say people who care about this are in the minority.
Gj on reading comprehension...PS Now recquires constant internet connection, has input lag, and (if im not mistaken) doesnt even reach every PS4 owners cause of servers location. That is for sure a much more "messy, uneven and less than ideal" solution!
and poor emulation of 360 games on xbox one wont be?
lmfaoWhat's the point of appeasing poor people who can't afford new games? Sony is doing the right thing.
