Horizon: Zero Dawn Trailer (Guerrilla, post-apocalyptic pre-historic adventure)

He's not wrong. first Killzone 2 trailer was total bullshot and looked nothing like the finished game.

Yes, and that was 10 years ago (E3 2005).

Guerilla have revealed several games since then and never done that again because they realized back then that it was dumb as shit.

Knowing Sony's involvement with the last of us, R&C and others, does anyone think that there's a movie being made based off Horizon?

I don't think the protagonist was unnecessarily talkative. She was just giving exposition on the world around her to give the viewership some background, nothing wrong with that. From what it appears, she's a teen or someone in young adulthood. Throughout the trailer it was showing her readying herself and training for the hunt and getting assistance from what appears to be her father/tribe head so likely she's an amateur and likely doesn't completely grasped the severity of her situation. Maybe she's just an upbeat person akin to Nathan Drake and makes light of matters as a coping mechanism. Who knows, but I'm glad she's not a Gordon Freeman

Goddamn! A few of those stand out. "Ghosts Of The Past" was also incredibly well done and unexpected.

Damn! Agreed, the bolded are probably the best I've experienced in the game so far.

Guerrilla never convinced me but this is their first game that really caught my eye.

Here's hoping that this game will deliver and that they won't fuck it up with their usual shitfaced writing antics, bad level design and linear gameplay. The 'open' forest level in Shadow Fall was the worst FPS level ever.

What they hired for this project sounds good though.

Awesome demo, awesome main character, amazing zoid-like robosaurs, the New Vegas story guy and Bloody Baron? This is gonna be one for the ages.

The game could really be something special if they play their cards right. Damn. Loving the character design. Guerrilla's art department has always been super good.

I'm watching the Gamespot stage demo of this and Herman just said that you take the parts of the machines to craft not only weapons but ARMOR too. That bit I didn't know. Hyped!

My biggest worry was what type of game those concept images would translate to... Guerilla did exactly what I wanted and this is my most hyped title from Sony (other than Uncharted)... add a really good crafting system and good quests? I'm in!!!! More tangible combat in a RPG is ALWAYS welcome in my books.

The early one? That was much better than 90% of the missions in the game.

Never played Fallout new Vegas. How good was the writing in the game?

Not all robot creatures are 'dinosaurs'. There's robo deers, that 'watcher robo' (that got stabbed in the beginning) and a giant robo eagle in the demo too.

Good point. It's just that if they want to include an easter egg that people will associate with Horizon, they're probably better putting an image of a robo-dino, rather than robo-insect.

This was definitely one of the games of the show for me. It looks amazing, gameplay seems great and who the fuck doesn't want to fight dinobots?

OH MY GOD!!!! This game may just be a dream come true for me if we can end up with some badass powersuit that only enhances the experience of the game.

Sorry if this has already been posted but I thought this was interesting

And then there's the Thundermaw. Guerrilla Games breaks down some numbers for this gigantic, angry animal: It's 80 feet long by 30 feet tall (roughly the size of an adult blue whale); it has 93 destructive elements along its body, all of which Aloy can shoot to reveal weak points; and it has 12 attacks, including a tail swipe and long-range projectiles.

A lot of those are VERY good quests. Fall of House Reardon, Ghosts of the Past and of course Blood Baron are all incredible.

Sounds like they are going back to the Killzone 2 days. I remember them boasting about how much points of detection they removed from the Helghast bodies in Killzone 3 so they could "remove input lag". I couldn't believe my ears.

It was excellent. Having any writers from Obsidian should definitely inspire confidence.

I didn't know they had recruited any CDPR people too. That's awesome. I don't have a PS4 yet, but I was just visiting home over the weekend and played about 7 or 8 hours of The Witcher 3 on a friend's system. That Bloody Barron quest with the
monster fetus
was the last one I completed, actually. The game has excellent quest design so far so that's good news too.

Really hyped for Horizon. It seems to be doing everything right so far and every bit of info on it gives me even more confidence it'll be amazing.

I just noticed that Shinobi said this game doesn't have multiplayer ...
Its a monster-hunter-like game... I really would've wanted to hunt with my friends like monster hunter :(
There are great single player games like Witcher 3, Fallout series and I'm sure that if the devs are focusing on single player its going to be a great single player experience, but I real was expecting multiplayer for this game.

Oh well....

I like how fluid and agile the main character was. I don't know why I feel like the past few RPG games I've played have clunky/sluggish controls.

I really hope there's a lot of exploration in this game. I know it's more action oriented but I'm looking for a nice balance.

HOLY SHIT!

Can someone tell me, am I crazy for thinking this evokes Monster Hunter in a lot of ways? Down to the animations of the monster, the dodging, the khezu-like stun animation, the rathalos-like heavy swinging of its body...

(I hope we get to choose various weapon types, I kind of want this to be a hunting game.)

Save MP for Horizon 2 imo. Lets setup the SP first. I hope for a strong 30 hour game experience that doesn't get repetitive at 15 hours in.

I still find myself wondering how the concept for this game came about. To be a fly on that wall for those dev meetings.

It totally looks like a hunting game, especially in how parts can be severed.

The psedo similarity to monster hunter in terms of combat encounters is why I'm loving this so much right now

Def not. When she started fighting with the big T-Rex looking one it had a Diablo's type feel to it. Swinging the tail, stomping the feet. Etc.

So yeah, looks like there is some inspiration from MonHun a little. But I wouldn't expect it to be a clone.
