Horizon: Zero Dawn Trailer (Guerrilla, post-apocalyptic pre-historic adventure)

A clash between ISA and Helghast wouldn't really fit since the Helghast have no interest in earth and are in a different solar system. They left earth a long time ago and colonized a planet(helghan) in a different solar system. Earth then sent ISA troops to the Helghast because they got to powerful.

I don't think there will be a link between the Killzone universe and this. Obviously there are some similarities in art though, afterall its the same people working on it.

The people of Earth could've reverse engineered Helghan tech, I mean there are many options. I just don't see why the same set of artists must mean a similar look for the technology.
As of now I don't think there is a direct link, I'm assuming GG would rather create a new universe. But then again it wouldn't surprise me at all if there are slight references. Perhaps they'll leave the matter open to speculation with vague descriptions.

Also I really hope Horizon does not come out that late in the year. for a new ip going up against multiplats from EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Warner is suicide.

Rather they delay it to early 2017, gives the IP a chance at having decent sales.

Shu just said on the Gamespot X Kinda Funny stream that GG has been working on Horizon since they finished Killzone 3. GG split split into two teams, one did Shadow Fall and the other Horizon.
That makes me really happy because that means it's actually might come out next year without a delay! YAY

That makes sense. Story aside, GG delivered a pretty stable, gorgeous looking game for launch. Seems like a well run studio. If Horizon legit took 4.5 years, I am hype.

We certainly can, I'm just saying the designs at least leave the option for a KZ universe tie in open. Again, I would definitely prefer a fresh unrelated universe.

I think a tie-in would just be terribly contrived.

Yeah think they said that about 20 people starting working on in after Killzone 3. That got knocked down to about 4 people when Shadowfall's crunch began and then after Shadowfall shipped the whole studio started working on Horizon.

Sorry if this has already been posted but I thought this was interesting

More than likely you can swap it with Uncharted and that list would be more realistic.

Just what's in bold, not the rest of the conversation: did you finish KZ3? Briefly, Stahl wanted to do a wee bit too much to earth.

A human hiding from a machine in grass seems a little off, I wonder if they'll explain this. Would assume a futuristic machine like this wouldn't just see like a human does.

I can suspend disbelief, it wouldn't ruin anything, just curious.

Is there any information on the level of the machine's intelligence?

Game looks incredible.

They don't seem extremely intelligent or advanced. But then again it has to be a fun videogame. Playing against a superintelligent A.I. would be no fun, and also has the problem of not being invented yet, and even if it was could a PS4 host it.. :p
That's the same reason why those scout robots didn't have thermal vision or anything of that sort, wouldn't be a fun game mechanic in a primitive open world.

I wonder if there are biological monsters too.

Machines are fun and all but since im a hunter, id like to hunt meat.

I'm actually very glad we are hunting non-organic 'life'. The green stuff she was essentially hunting for seemed to be concentrated plant matter and thus would be highly nutritious.
There might still be other organic lifeforms around, or the majority/all of them would be hunted to extinction by the robosaurs, humans being the only ones able to resist that fate.

But being able to feel the thrill of the hunt, whilst at the same time not killing organic animals and farming plant based sustenance is a very appealing idea to the ethicist in me.

If we btw look at what they are wearing, it seems to suggest they are using non-human animal hides for clothing. So that would mean there are other organic lifeforms left in Horizon's universe.

I am kinda worried this won't sell as much because of the female lead. I really want GG to get hitched with a new franchise away from Killzone.

Would this count as melee combat? It certainly looks like it to me. I'm sure they'll have melee in the game, it'd be silly if they didn't.

Also, I know people don't like her talking, but I ... kinda do. It builds the character in real time, rather that just when she's talking to someone else. Everyone talks to themselves, or at things, even if it's not out loud. I love when she says sorry to the robo-scout thing in that gif. It tells you a lot about her.

Agreed, I like the talking.
There's going to be a hell of a lot to learn about this world; having some silent protagonist who quietly moves through the world without explaining or commenting on anything just wouldn't cut the butter imo.

Yep. Artists and art- directors.
It's not related to Killzone.

The fact that we are even discussing this is a nice reminder that GG has managed to pique interest about the Old Ones.

Love the concept, would like to think it relates to Killzone too, without ever EVER explicitly revealing it to be so

I love this idea that something happened and that they went somewhere, I truly hope they have a lot of places to explore that puzzle together the story and lore without telling us flatly about the mystery

It's why RPGs with lore can be so awesome. So much you can miss, infer, and put together.

Melee yes, but I'd say that it was a stealth kill. That's the reason why it was a one-hit kill. Of course I'm speculating.

The hunters could wear something that disrupts it, limiting the machines to what they can "see". It would be easy to work in to a sci-fi story.

I like little details like these, but again I can live without them.

Holy shit, so this is going to be the Witcher 3 with dinosaur robots and a far post-apocalypse setting. Consider me hyped but I'm not too familiar with Guerrilla, I've only played Killzone 2 and 3.

I dont mind it for tutorial, but how many times do you want to hear "whoa, HE'S angry!" when fighting a T-Rex?

It throws me completely off that she's so smarky about it, like she's Nathan Drake who doesn't take her situation seriously.

It's strange because the game's mood shows her to be less flamboyant, like with her voiceover and the way she attacked the searcher robot and felt remorseful.

Now I'm hyped as fuck.

mind explaining why? Am yet to sink much time into W3, I'm guessing this is a really good quest or something?

I hear you. Have faith that it'll be implemented in such a way that it doesn't get repetitive straight off the bat, though I'm personally fine with her attitude :D

The problem with that is that it sounds pretty high tech, and although some of the items they use seem to be repurposed 'ancient' tech, the majority of what they use is clearly very low tech and doesn't imply much technological understanding.

It is definitely something that potentially could be used as you advance in the game or for a potential sequel. All we've had is a small glimpse, perhaps there are tribes that have greater technological know-how.

Definitely, and I get the sense that she doesn't realize that the machines we think of are soulless, so without understanding of what a robot is, I'd imagine they consider them organic creatures.

Then again, maybe there's a lot more to the story, and they do have souls o.o

They have time to get the talking part ironed out...they should replace her voice with a dinklebot :)

Game is looking great and well along. Wonder what the gameplay cycle is going to be like outside of battles, whether it's going to be RPGish with quests and stuff, or more Far Cryish or Infamous world with objectives and mini missions.

People really need to stop posting the Fallout/Witcher dev credentials.

We have NO idea how much they contributed to Horizon, be patient and temper those expectations :P

Is Rime confirmed 2016? Guess so if they dont announce the date real soon. Next year is insane

No, I think only Street Fighter has a specific date so far, rest is speculation on my part.
I feel like one of Rime, TTC, or Shadow of the Beast will still release this year and I think SotB is the most likely.

But it's getting really late in the year, Rime is missing from E3 and I don't think Sony will want to release any of those games in Q4 during the Holiday rush, cause they'll get totally buried.

Uncharted 4 is confirmed to be March 2016, no?

After the PSX demo we got a Spring 2016 release window, yesterday only a generic 2016. Even though the Sony financial result and projection implied it should release by March 2016 (Q4 financial year) I don't see ND making it on time.

June is imo the last month to release such a big game before like Sep/Oct and I think Sony will push them to make that deadline.

Well, she kills the watcher because its about to raise the alarm. You see it scanning the bush with a laser/lidar of some kind, but even though she's in cover it appears to detect the movement of the leaves, and starts to cry out.

Then she stabs it with her spear.

I'm actually very glad we are hunting non-organic 'life'. The green stuff she was essentially hunting for seemed to be concentrated plant matter and thus would be highly nutritious.

We know there are organic animals - we see fish in the intro and a flock of birds at the start of the gaming segment when the Thunder Jaws amble past her.

They're clearly repurposing tech from the dinos, and I'm guessing they have metallurgy to work the recovered alloys & metals.

It could release in September or even Early October 2016 and do fine. I saw nothing at E3 that looks they great from any of those companies coming next year. Horizon looks like a potential system seller, not just a game hoping to do well.

Head of the studio wants to create this into a brilliant new franchise.

That's what I like to hear. Future could be very bright if this early look is anything to go by.

OH LOL it's just that character, he's friggin' creepy in the comics AND the show, no worries
oh haha yeah, he definitely is a creep, but I think he's had some decent character development on the show.

the scene in which my avatar is from is when he confessed to being a liar. hence, the unhappy/remorseful/or however you wanna describe- look on his face.

not to mention, as Xando suggested, this avatar may've gotten me the unofficial record for most avatar quotes (on the gaf).

Horizon: Zero Dawn |OT| Perfect Day for a Hunt

We can do better than that.

I really hope this game has a great story and some depth to the world, some rpg systems you can invest in, quests, and plenty of upgrades.

It has so much potential.

The writing in the voice over was pretty basic, though, but as long as the gameplay has depth I can live with average writing.

Really like the female character design.

I hope not. Sucker Punch needs to completely scrap their weak side content approach for their next game. Far Cry is not something I want it to emulate either. Neither are RPGs.
