Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

You're not exactly wrong. But....they are so awesome. The hit to performance is not worth it on non Nvidia hardware, but the Scarecrow/Raas Al Ghul segments were waaayyyy better because of all the added PhysX particles. It's superfluous, but it's awesome and add's a layer/level of believability and life to a scene that otherwise feels very sterile and isolated. Arkham Asylum was especially guilty of this. The added effects made Asylum feel more like a real place. Smashing dudes into the tile floors and watching the floors break around the bad guy. It's awesome.

Sometimes it's worth it. Once a mod was released to allow hair works for everything but Geralt it was amazing. That being said Arkham City had terrible dx 11 and physx implementation.

I was talking about the second week long delay that happened, that was announced like a week or so prior to the first delayed release date. Should have been more clear, sorry.

From what I recall, it wasn't announced at all. People just noticed the date on Steam changed. It was pretty shitty.

Got this when I bought a 970 a few days ago. Is it worth giving a shot if I've never played the Batman games and never really followed it in general?

I don't think many people here have actually played it considering it's not released yet, but the past 2 games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) were both pretty great. I'd say give it a try especially since you don't have to pay for it.

I'm marathoning Blackgate because I had a Batman itch while this pre-loads. This is going to be as night and day as it gets when Arkham Knight unlocks.

Yeah you're right. I meant like if anyone knows if the story follows a tight path game to game or something like that! And that's what I'm thinking, I hear great things about the combat. Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah, it's DX11 implementation was terrible in comparison to how well DX9 worked. I didn't know about the Witcher 3 mod as I put the game down waiting for my gpu to come in the mail.

I waited till this game and Witcher 3 to upgrade. I wasn't getting the performance out of my 780 that I was happy with. I put it in my wifes PC, took her 770 and shipped the 980 I bought for Witcher 3 in via step-up waiting for the 980 Ti(should be here Tuesday). I love the PhysX Gameworks tech that nVidia has snapped up. It's why I prefer to play the Arkham games on my PC. It may be fluff. But it's delicious fluff.

Arrggh!! So good, give me more.

OT: This is how it happened. This is how the Batman got delayed.

or

OT: The fourth game in the trilogy.

or

OT: Back to the Asylum in the City where the Knight got his Origins

I wonder what the frame hit will be for this. I have a feeling it'll be the first thing I turn off.

I'm hoping that because it's mostly a Unreal Engine 3.5 game that it'll run well and run PhysX well as a result.

Borderlands 2 ran PhysX very well Day 1 and it added immensely to the hilarity and chaos of that game.

This shares a similar engine and similar physics simulations that BL2 did so I'm keeping a positive outlook. I'm very hopeful the 980 Ti can max this easily with room to spare for other things. We'll see, the effects looks great. We need to see some benches asap.

OT: It's the car, right? Chicks dig the car.

OT: Can you drive stick?

OT: Does it come in black? Only if you preordered.

OT: The batmobile lost a wheel.

EDIT: Damn. Beat on the third one by seconds.

Batman: Arkham Knight |OT| Good Knight, Sweet Prince.
