Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

Working discs or an encrypted Steam install?

Since it's steam works, I'm assuming encrypted Steam install. That being said, the Arkham City delay was announced what, a week and a half prior to release?

I just don't see them delaying the PC version the day before, after the PR stink they just had with cancelling the Batmobile edition.

WHAT. My LE from Amazon now says "Arriving Thursday" instead of Tuesday. Ugh.

Now, I shouldn't too mad since I'm not arriving home from my honeymoon until Thursday night anyway, but I'm just worried it will get delayed again.

Man, if I wasn't going on my honeymoon tomorrow and was waiting for the game ON Tuesday, I would be fuming right now, lol.

I don't see it either (delaying the PC version now). But if they do, its going to be a PR shit storm for rocksteady & WB games.

God damn, looks like I'll have to delete some more games off my drive to install this. I really need to get a bigger hard drive for my PS4.

Also, looks like this review thread has turned into a makeshift official thread now ;)

Isnt the patch size 3.5 GB ?

It was a month before. Game came out October 20ish, announced September 20ish for the delay, PC version hit November 20ish.

There's no way they're delaying the PC version if they're sending out retail copies already.

Damn that makes things a lot easier during combat. Does that mouse still hold up today or is there an updated version?

My wife has this mouse. I think it's all dependent on how it feels in your hand. Giggity. She loves it and uses it for WoW and it has a lot of utility, but even her and her tiny hands. Giggity. She say's the the bottom six buttons aren't as accessible to push so it's really the top six that get the most use. And she's playing an MMO, I can imagine it's much tougher with an action game. That said, if you put the time in and got you're thumb pretty dexterous(giggity), you could easily do it and have a ton of control of your character. A really cool feature of that mouse is that you can make any key a modifier key, essentially letting you hold down a key and then changing any of those easily reachable six buttons, six entirely different buttons. So that's pretty cool.

I was talking about the second week long delay that happened, that was announced like a week or so prior to the first delayed release date. Should have been more clear, sorry.

Why should Andy, who works for Nvidia, have to speak for the developers of a game (Rocksteady) and how or when they distribute their game?

In what world does this make sense

This thread made me hop on the hype train. Put in an order through Best Buy, and now am just deciding if I want the season pass or not. It seems pretty expensive, but I'll see what theyre going to do with it.

I wouldn't panic unless the preload doesn't go up tomorrow after the Steam Summer Sale ends. But yeah, I guess WB just specifically doesn't really give a fuck about the PC part of their pie as much as consoles. That and the whole SoM youtube fiasco probably didn't do them any favours.

Also if you bought your key on GMG, well, I wouldn't expect the key until Tuesday anyway. It's par for the course for GMG but I personally don't care enough, especially if I bought the game + season pass for 54$.

Ya, their no mention of resolution in the Digital Foundry first look. It could be the type of AA used or maybe its running on some sort of dynamic resolution, we will see...

All I know is that it lacks the crisp, detailed image quality that 1080p usually provides.

Are you sure you're not talking about those share button pictures going around? :O

No pre-load and no PC code for reviews is a bit concerning. Arkham games don't have the greatest track record with PC launches, but I did get it for free on the Nvidia promo so I can't complain right? hoping we get that pre-load in the morning.

That hasn't really been my experience with them unless something's changed. I know there were issues with them getting Witcher 3 keys out for launch, but last 2 games I preordered from them (GTA V and DA:I) had keys up before release. Hopefully they'll have them tomorrow.

I hope this game looks amazing given its a next gen title. Besides the Witcher 3, this is my first game since I bought my GTX 980. Been PS4 this gen prior (was PC gaming all last gen).

I think we can confirm this game to be 1080p. Their post process technique(FXAA?) in addition to 'modern day' filters like DoF, motion blur and everything else is going to give it a softer look compred to a SMAA T2X game like Infamous

To people on the thread who wondered, I can confirm that my local Gamestops (San Diego) are selling the game at 9pm tomorrow. Few hours earlier than a midnight launch, but it won't do working people much good.

they have been doing this since last Fall I believe. Was funny as Hell when people showed up to the inquisition launch with their lawn chairs at 9 PM to wait in line and people were walking past them with the game in hand.

Edit: and yeah, what the fuck is up with the steam countdown timer. Im going on vacation on tuesday, was hoping to play monday night

How well do you guys think a 780 will run this? Trying to hold out until next year before I upgrade, but so many good games coming out...

Still not downloading for me on EU PS4. With the PSN download speeds it's going to be at least 2 or 3 days before I can play this game. I should have bought a retail copy...

Is is downloading for anyone in europe ?

so I may not even be able to get this at gamestop does anyone know if walmart with stock this mofo on Tuesday morning??????

Well, I mean, the game obviously has a pretty soft look for 1080p, even looking at pictures from the share button. Compare a 1080p Share screenshot of Arkham Knight compared to Infamous Second Son:

Still looks amazing, regardless.

It's made even more jarring by the fact that the grapple icon there is crystal clear.
