This fucking guy. Can't believe some people actually like him.
Guy is completely and totally inept at his job.
It's fucking pathetic.
This fucking guy. Can't believe some people actually like him.
It took the first clan 14 hours to beat the first raid and it wasn't like people were finishing it quickly after that. It took my group several weekends to finally beat it. We made it to Atheon a lot but couldn't seal the deal for a while.
How is this an excuse or defense for a lack of options in game?
It's cool because a forum will fix the game?
I'm deaf, can't hear nothing
I was hyped for this game day 1, even though, I knew about voice chat as only option to communicate
I played through VoG flawlessly, helped others get the flawless achievement during the first couple months the game came out. It was great fun but frustrating at times not being able to talk to my fireteam
Then DLC came out and imo the game got screwed over, plus all my friends/family stopped playing
I'm done with this franchise, it's more like work trying to convince other strangers to let me raid even though I can't communicate, I can do my part if you just message me via xbox message or PSN message
I have X1 and PS4 versions of Destiny, if I had a dedicated group that doesn't mind my disability, I would play again
That's probably the key here, Destiny is fun with friends that you know

This is my issue with the Expansion. Not that it's $40, or even that the digital Collector's Edition is the same price as the physical Collector's Edition and it has considerably less content. It makes no sense at all.

Yea, bragging about whales and scalpers wasn't exactly smart.DeeJ's comment about "it'll probably sell for even more thank we're asking on eBay" is probably the dumbest response to this possible.
For the 20 dollars you get to play the game a year earlier and enjoy things like hunting for relic iron and moving your single icebreaker/gjallarhorn back and forth between your characters by loading the tower over and over again.![]()

Yeap.
I just wanted to say VoG is better and bigger than a lot full games I already played in my life.
I could pay $60 just for it... so much fun and enjoyment.
And Destiny is not just VoG... it is a game by itself.

That is true... I lot of game I played I finished in less than one hour.
VoG first run took me over 6 hours.
You can say I didn't know the mechanics but nobody knows until the next day... and I can say these game I finished in less than a hour I didn't know the mechanics too so it is a fair comparison.
I went to a GameSpot this Sunday and the employees there were talking about Destiny and had no idea that the CE was for sale.I had no problem with the Collector's Edition until I realized they didn't even make enough of them to satisfy demand.
I may try to hit up a brick & mortar Gamestop tomorrow and see if they still have any pre-orders available.
Yeah my first time was probably 6-8 but had the advantage of knowing kind of how the fights went by then though it was still early.
And I'm not poo-pooing VOG too much, it was pretty good content but that contrasted sharply with the rest of the game.
Production values and shooting mechanics were fantastic but lack of variety of content really shortened its lifespan for me. And that's having a 30 titan and high 20s hunter/warlock lol.
If others feel VOG justified a full-game's purchase good on them. To me that's a small amount of quality content for the price. It lays foundation on what the game could be if it were bigger, but at the expansion's asking price I'm more than a bit hesitant.
I'm not a huge Jeff fan, but he is totally on point with this
? What friggin games have you played that are under an hour? And how old are you? One raid in Destiny bigger and better than most games you have played in your entire life? What games? Flash games on PC?
What could he possibly say though?I keep checking this thread to see if Luke replies. Count me in the group that's just disappointed and in disbelief. Keep toeing that company line Luke.

When will Kate Upton be joining the Destiny marketing team?
The time spent might be similar, but I don't feel the experience is. If im leveling up in WoW, i get to choose different starting zones, with different quests and quest givers, get to explore many different areas that feel massive. If I want to re-roll a new characeter, I know I have some degree of agency over how my adventure might play out.
In Destiny you are basically patrolling the same few areas over and over again. The experience is turgid. Do I get a cool starting area to learn the game cause I picked the Robot race? Nope, youll place that same god damn aerodrome or whatever over and over again.
People are saying year 2 people get a discount on all the old stuff, but Luke's point is that they also missed out on all the year 1 stuff that will never happen again. What? I already paid $90 to do that. That doesn't make any sense.
It's the same guy, he's just using his snark against journalists. It's funny to watch. lolI can't believe that this is the same Luke Smith from the 1UP Podcasts.![]()

It's mostly frustrating, because the core elements are there for an amazing universe and experience...oh well. You are right that Destiny has limited content (especialy story missions) compared with more established MMOs and that everyone starts on the same area. We can still speculate why this happened. I guess that Bungie wanted a simpler MMO design, easy to play by new people to the genre (console gamers), with light use of MMO and rpg mechanics with solid shooting (Cod and Halo gamers), a game basically to be appealing to console shooter fans.
We can say that Destiny is the Call of Duty of MMOs, easy to play and get hooked and that its designed for players that like to do the same things again and again, without caring for background story or lore or character progression (except damage upgrades)
Eurogamer: Just not the emotes.
Luke Smith: It doesn't because they come with the Collector's Edition.
Eurogamer: Final question on prices -
Luke Smith: Is it also the final question on the emotes?
Eurogamer: I'm not going to mention them again. I can't get them.
Luke Smith: But you can if you buy the Collector's Edition.
Eurogamer: I'm not going to buy the game and the two DLCs all over again.
Luke Smith: Okay, but first I want to poke at you on this a little bit.
Eurogamer: Poke at me?
Luke Smith: You're feeling anxious because you want this exclusive content but you don't know yet how much you want it. The notion of spending this money is making you anxious, I can see it -
Eurogamer: I do want them. I would buy them -
Luke Smith: If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen.
I can't believe that this is the same Luke Smith from the 1UP Podcasts.![]()
You're meant to just buy the TTK by itself. The CE is meant to convince people who, by virtue of not buying Destiny in year 1, have shown little interest in the game. They're assuming that everyone who is committed to Destiny is going to buy TTK anyway, whether or not they get some emotes.Yeah, they get the old stuff for $20. That's fair. I'm not sure what you're getting at. That's not the point of that picture I made.
It is, which is why it's funny.Yeah, Luke from 1Up was never snarky or obstinate about his opinoins! Such a gentleman.
This seems like exactly the same guy to me.
Is this Luke Smith guy for real? Jesus...
I'm still waiting to find the part of the game described here. Played hundreds of hours. Still looking.
The best content in our game is a raid that requires you to use third party websites if you want to find players not already your friends because fuck you that's why.
Wow's big patches have more content than Destiny's dlc. It's laughable and only possible because its a console game only.
With how the game is structured now, since they removed all the grind, it takes an experienced player 10ish hours to complete the campaign the first time and then 6ish hours the next two times. After that you need to play raids or crucible to start collecting better gear. It took me around 20-24 hours to get my repeat characters to max level and every new DLC adds about 10-15 hours per character to get to the new max level. My first character took something like 100-150 hours but there was more grind involved that is removed now. I'd say in all it's about 75 hours to speed run all your characters to max. To get all the fun exotics, raid gear/weapons, and actually play strikes, crucible etc, it's easily 150-200 hours of content if you enjoy the game before you'll start to burn out. I'm at like 450 hours now but I've been there since day one and have dumped a lot of time into each new expansion collecting everything.
33 years old... not most but a lot of game I played was worst or small than VoG and I can make a big list of < 1 hour retail games (not all are bad games btw).? What friggin games have you played that are under an hour? And how old are you? One raid in Destiny bigger and better than most games you have played in your entire life? What games? Flash games on PC?

Deej and Luke Smith also made it clear that they think that stuff is worth 40 dollars, and it's up to you to decide if you want to pay that.
