The best quote from the majority opinion.

"The nature of injustice is that we may not always see it in our own times. The generations that wrote and ratified the Bill of Rights and the Fourteenth Amendment did not presume to know the extent of freedom in all of its dimensions, and so they entrusted to future generations a character protecting the right of all persons to enjoy liberty as we learn its meaning."

We have a host of problems, but god dammit we can solve them. Not easily, but finally.

God (or whoever) bless this backwoods patchwork mess.

Major props to Joe Biden for being the primary impetus for change on this issue nationwide, shocking the Obama administration and forcing its hand in support of gay marriage, eventually leading to a state-by-state domino effect and majority national support, and now this decision. I'm not giving any credit to Obama for this one, after all his years of noncommittal civil union bullshit. Joe can sit in my auntie's lap at the local diner with the bikers any day.

Wow i just say the news i'm almost in tears. I'm really happy for the lgbt community and any one in general who was fighting for this. Truly a great day in America.

How does the 14th Amendment not apply to same-sex marriage?

Not expanding the definition of marriage to include marriage between two people of the same sex does not entail denying someone equal protection of the law or abridging someone's privileges. This isn't about the right to marry, it's about what marriage is and means - which the Constitution does not address.

You know, I've always maintained the position that y'all Americans over there are not such a bad country after all, and you've reinforced that belief today. Congratulations!

Yeah Biden deserves huge props for the initial wave support that turned the tide

I stand up for my beliefs. I could care less about being banned or any negative reactions. The world will always be corrupt and this ruling is just a sign of the times. Ending in ultimate chaos and destruction.

Work is going to be fucking intolerable today. I usally roll my eyes when people use the terms like "white male cishet privilege", but when I comes to my career field in general and my office specifically, it's so damn apt.

Good news for the rest if the country sure, and long overdue, but damn is today going to suck for me.
