Aquaman wouldn't need a mask underwater.

Right, because I'm sure a huge theme of the movie won't be Superman's guilt from the situation and him trying to do better because of it.

The whole theme of the movie is that the people who were crying about the death toll were right. It's not false slander if it's factual.
Fantasy does not equal Factual

Ma Kent has the best line in the trailer. Supes doesn't owe anyone anything.

Watching it again, I loved how Bruce was running toward the crumbling/falling building while everyone else (including the cops) was running away.

this is something that annoys me about Zack Snyder's directing - his very obvious ' feel the feels' moments. Obviously we're supposed to be reminded on 9/11, and it just seems really cheap.

I'm pretty sure that's actually true now in the new 52 canon.

well, yeah batman kinda let the cat out of the bag himself

So Superman is the villain here, and those calling for him to go away are in the right?

The theme of the movie appears to be that Superman's motives are misunderstood and people are too quick to blame him for a tragedy he was an unwilling part of.

That grapple shot just continues to prove how dumb the idea of them fighting is. Before Batman even turns and fires, Superman could have his fist in Bruce's sphincter.

I don't think either of you understand what theme means, as opposed to plot.

Basically, Terrio & Snyder have taken the "Superslaughter" meme, and made its supporters into followers/lackeys/acolytes of Lex Luthor.

Ma Kent on that "eh, you can be a selfish jerk if you want Superman" ish, taking up the mantle Pa left after that stupid ass scene

Eh I wouldn't go that far. She's telling him to do what's best for him. Be the hero, but only if you want to. Pa Kent was like "fuck everyone no matter what. Let them kids drown, Clark."

I gave MOS a shot after those all time great trailers. That movie disappointed me. This looks fantastic too. I'll give it a shot.

Snyder has fooled me before.

Honestly, after I saw the Man of Steel trailer, I was so hyped for it, but it burned me so bad.

I can't get excited for this. Ben Affleck is fucking nailing it as Bruce Wayne tho, I'll give it that.

"You can save them kids...or not. I mean, do you, its whatever just stop coming here to whine about it, I got a man coming over tonight"

By the third film, somebody finally gon say "Superman, you should probably do Superman things and save people. That would be cool." Now which supporting cast member will deliver that pep talk...

KRYPTO!

Linky link?

I thought Metropolis was a lot closer to Smallville, Kansas.. but from the look of this. It's in Maryland. odd...
Smallville tv show kinda ruined the notion that Metropolis was on the east coast. But it's supposed to be on the Atlantic Ocean somewhere, either in Delaware or more north past New York.

This trailer does nothing for me at all. It's way too self-serious. I think the Joker would be disappointed at their still not getting it, and I just can't buy Afleck as Bruce Wayne. His face is just to familiar.

She's just being a mom and looking out for her son first. I mean, it's not like he's going to stop saving people. Half his scenes in the trailer are him saving people.

God forbid he realizes that on his own

There's such disparity between the normal shots and special effect green screen shots.

Like, whats happening in the scenes are cool, but they look fake as anything.

uhh... I can't get on board for this at all... it's so stiff and contrives for self-seriousness in that typical unearned Snyder way. I don't know what tone they're going for with this trailer, I just know that they seem to have found the wrong one.

and I get that the movie is a year away so unfinished effects are to be expected, but some of the CG looks pretty bad.

I guess this is the necessary evil so that we can get the Ben Affleck directed Batman film.

They got what, 8 months to clean that shit up?

You're right though, some of these effects are pretty noticeable right now.

I wrote this a week after the film came out, just as the "Supermurderer" meme was really starting to solidify and take hold.

For example, there’s this much shared article from Buzzfeed, an exclusive breakdown of the fictional damage incurred by imaginary aliens on a make-believe city that doesn’t exist. The article boasts some pretty huge numbers when it comes to casualties and property costs: two trillion total butcher’s bill, and about 1 million people dead or wounded. The report has been written as if LexCorp commissioned it, which is pretty clever, doubly so once you see it being used as a source of vindication for those who feel betrayed. Leave it to Zack Snyder to turn a decent chunk of the film critic sewing circle into grassroots supporters of Lex Luthor.

This appears to be the angle they've gone with.

Well, one of the traditional themes of Superman is that Clark is a good person because of his parents, so I I think it's understandable that people find this weird.

I still think it's possible, looking at the expression on his face, that he's about to tell his mom that no, he does owe them something, and he can't just NOT be Superman. Not after all this.

"You can save them kids...or not. I mean, do you, its whatever just stop coming here to whine about it, I got a man coming over tonight"

"I know you're wracked with guilt. I know you hate what your life has become. I know everyone expects you to be a flawless, godlike creature and they shit all over you when you can't prevent terrible things.

"But you'd better go be a superhero. Fuck your opinion. Fuck what you want. Fuck your feelings. You think you're your own person? You're not. You're my little bitch. You gonna cry now, little bitch? That's what I thought, bitch ass pussy bitch."

I wonder if Scoot McNairy will be playing Robin. I remember seeing pic from him on set when they were shooting the scene with Affleck running trying to save people.

!SPOILERS!

Isn't he a little old even for Nightwing? I know Adam Driver was rumored to play Nightwing for a while, but that either seems to have not been true or a scrapped story idea. Seems he's going to be busy with Star Wars for a while anyways.

Honestly he could just be a minor character who was crippled in the Metropolis battle.

Yeah I used to watch Smallville. back then Clark could run from Smallville to Metropolis in about a couple mins if not quicker. I guess if they do decide to put Metropolis closer to DC, it would make a bit more sense since it's Superman home base and it seems to play into the fact that the government can keep a closer eye on him.

Thanks. *sigh* man this sucks, I was so looking forward to seeing Dick Grayson as Nightwing or at least Robin. Why does Hollywood hate Nightwing so much..

I kinda had a problem with Ma Kent telling Clark that he doesn't owe Earth anything. While it does make sense logically. It just doesn't seem like what Pa & Ma Kent would normally say. In every iteration of Superman. They have always been supportive of him. That no matter how much people despite him, he need to keep helping people and prove to them that he is good.
-----------------
I'm still not sure I'm sold on Eisenberg as Luthor but his line about the Red Capes are coming was pretty menacing and mocking. Exactly something I would expect Lex Luthor to say. Michael Rosenbaum still the best Lex Luthor though.
