I don't read comics, but does WW fly a jet in them? And could she be the one flying the Jet in the trailer? In this scene it looks like the remnants of a destroyed version of the jet behind her, probably wrecked by whoever she's fighting in that scene:

I believe that was only in Super Friends and maybe the 70's show.

The comics I read she just flies.

Why is this most likely? Why would introducing this entire mystery into the film help the film in any way, especially since it won't actually be addressed in this film, or this film's two direct sequels?

It's unlikely to me specifically BECAUSE of that. This letter is obviously a catalyst for Bruce doing what he's doing in the movie. So why would the "dead" Robin (who is probably just Dead Robin, no quotes needed) be that catalyst? What does that person have to do with the Superman-centered conflict going on? With the plans of Lex Luthor, who is the primary villain of the film?

How does any of that fit organically into the film without disjointing the focus?

This is a sequel to Man of Steel, centered on Superman, featuring Superman's archnemesis, harvesting the body of Superman's last enemy, while parts of the US government (working with/for Luthor) are trying to sow discontent towards Superman - how do you cram in setup for "Under the Red Hood" in any sort of satisfying way? And why that story, especially considering you know that Batman's been retired for about a decade? Especially when it seems somewhat possible, considering the source of inspiration for everything Batman related in this movie, that Jena Malone is there to potentially be Carrie Kelley?

After Jason. Tim Drake sought out Bruce Wayne to be Robin, be ause Batman had become more reckless and less stables. After awhile he accepted it since Robin helps keep him from going over the deep end.

First there was Dick, who left after he got old enough and didn't want to put up with Batman's bullshit anymore.

Jason was caught trying to jack the Batmobile's tires. He came from a shitty home and was eventually recruited after training. He died.

Tim was actually brought in by Nightwing to keep Batman sane after he went all aggro following Jason's death. Jason deduced their identities because he recognized an acrobatic maneuver from dick because he saw him do it in the circus.

Damien was a surprise that Batman took under his wing.

As you can see, new Robins are usually out of Batman's hands.

In this case, that one opinion is totally fact. It's like saying Mr. Rogers was the most evil man to walk the earth or something... that's just so factually untrue even if it's an opinion.

Keep in mind, I hate Robin in general. Hate the concept, hate Dick Grayson, hate the costumes, the...everything about Robin. It's why I loved Jason Todd. Very different.

Dick Grayson was my favorite Batman.

I'm dead serious. I miss Dick Grayson as Batman. Unlike Bruce, he ENJOYED it. He loved watching criminals flee from the very sight of him. And I'll agree with DC as well that, out of every and all heroes in the DC Universe, Dick Grayson is the glue, the one nucleus that ties every single hero and group together. He's part of Batman's universe, while also being best friends with The Flash and the other Titans; he's got connections to everyone. And, most importantly, unlike Bruce who pushed everyone else away, Dick is someone everyone likes and, in the words of a few Justice League members, someone they would gladly follow into hell for.

Besides, Dick put Jason in his place... Loved Battle for the Cowl.

Only reasoning that I can think of to have Dick die rather than Jason is that DC doesn't want someone named Dick being a prominent character in today's world. DC might be thinking that It's not a popular name anymore, Dick is hardly ever associated with anything other than jokes and sex, and above all else people couldn't take an otherwise "serious" superhero movie seriously if someone named Dick is running around with Batman.

Sure, it's a legitimate name and has a ton of history and all that, but DC would get so much shit for it if Dick became a big thing, deserved or not. This is going to be a huge movie that is going to be the Batman experience for many, many families all around the world. Can't imagine how many kids would start making fun of it and how many parents would get mad about it.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's all I got. They might just be playing it safe and switching names around to avoid some controversy/backlash down the line.

This is how it happens in The Dark Knight Returns original timeline, he stops using Robins after Jason dies.

Tim Drake was introduced 3 years after TDKR was released, and is explained in that a) he independently figured out Bruce and Dick's secret identities and b) he kind of forced his way into being Robin by pointing out what an ass Bruce had become since Jason's death.

Damian is whole 'nother bag entirely.

Carrie (TDKR) buys a novelty Dick Grayson-style Robin costume, has a few solo adventures being a nuisance to the mutant gang, and is allowed to be Robin simply because she saves Bruce's life from the mutant leader the first time they meet.

The best thing about this batman is that his scenes are actually at night, which helps immensely with the atmosphere. One of my biggest complaints about the Nolan movies is that its day most of the time.

IIRC the only scene in Nolan's trilogy with Batman that doesn't take place during night is the climax of TDKR.

I can see there only being 1 previous Robin that's now dead following by a female Robin in the new movies just because they'd want to avoid having to go into all the backstories of the Robins whilst giving another important role to a woman.

Not sure I like it because all the Robin characters are great, but we'll see how it turns out.

One of my problems with Carrie Kelly as a Robin (and her being so old when she begins) is that it completely ignores the point of Robins - they're his kids. I really hope there's nothing sexual between Carrie and Bruce. (Which is the whole reason Miller made a girl Robin in the first place. Ugh.)

We haven't had any official confirmation when these two movies take place. Originally the rumor was that SS takes place before Batman V Superman. However, with Batman clearly in SS riding on top of Joker's car, it looks like he's out of retirement at that point which would place SS after BvS.
