Does anyone really expect a DC movie to set the world on fire and beat a Marvel movie at the box office? A DC movie could be much better but they are missing out on the kids tickets sales just because their movies aren't as family friendly as Marvel movies. I've got a friend that will takes his 7 year old to any Marvel movie because the violence is cartoony and hardly anyone ever dies but he won't let them watch any of the Nolan Batman movies yet. His kid loves Batman from the Lego games too.

TDK and TDKR did a billion each with even less kiddy appeal than BvS looks to have. Batman is box office gold, man.

I never thought it was a bad movie.... it's super (har har) mediocre though and, as a huge Superfan (har har har!), I walked out of that theater feeling... just fucking bummed.

"It's not bad, it's super mediocre"

Wah , that's very different, yay...

It had many flaws, but I feel like this sequel is actually addressing them, it retroactively makes up for them.

Still a few things were wrong, it was still decent, overall.

I don't understand why Man of Steel and Amazing Spiderman 2 got hated on so much, while Captain america and thor keep getting passes while being easily far more terrible AND unimpressive.

A word on Lex : He is pretty "lame" in the trailer, but I am confident that he's not showing his true nature just yet. I have faith.

Wait a minute. Furious 7 isn't exactly kid friendly and look what numbers it pulled. BvS could easily hit huge numbers if it's a quality film.

lol quality has nothing to do with it but yeah you're right i forgot about furious 7. suicide squad definitely can't make that kind of money though tbh, i just think it's the nature of the tone ayer has gone for.

Is the music from the trailer anywhere to be found? Can't seem to find anything on YouTube other than music ripped from the trailer.

Half the reason the trailer is so incredible is that sweet sweet theme! :)

That is pretty easy to understand: the bulk of the MCU insulates the weaker entries. So even the poorer movies look good due to being propped by continuity.

Eh, something like Thor 2 is 'bad' for many of the same reasons as Man of Steel.

It is the insulation of the MCU that props them up. They don't fall alone, and get their energy renewed with an Avengers film.
Going to have to agree to disagree.

Thor 2 is a poor movie with or without the MCU, and it's pretty clear what the general consensus on Thor 2 is after browsing GAF

MoS is a divisive movie, but I thought it was excellent

you guys got it all wrong

that's the scene where batman is stuck inside his car and has to begrudgingly accept superman's help

The coolest part of the trailer, I hope they just hug it out right after. I really want them to become super friends super quick, I don't want to have to sit through more than a few minutes of them trying to fight or out-brood each other.

The eventual handshake could be as epic as the Dillon/Dutch handshake in Predator. Could be.

Implying batman doeant do numbers by himself. Add that you have batman AND Superman in a movie finally. Yeah, it's going to do numbers.

No MCU movie has reviewed as poorly as either MoS or ASM2. That's not to say that regarding MoS and ASM2 as superior to films like Thor or First Avenger is somehow "wrong." It's easy to say fuck the reviews but that fosters an insular view that rejects anybody else's opinions but your own, in which case you shouldn't care at all what anybody else thinks since your opinion is the only one you'd consider "correct" anyway. It's better, in my opinion, to consider how the movies have been critiqued, try to understand why they were less well received, and acknowledge that tastes vary and all these films have merit.

Except Green Lantern. Fuck that piece of shit, mirite?

As much as I don't like MoS, please don't lump it in with ASM2. That movie was fucking horrid. Sony and their venom/sinister 6/aunt may forced bullshit was the ground work for ASM2 and it showed. I wouldn't even call it a "movie".

Not only was it horrid but it turned Emma Stone away from doing Ghostbusters.

I think comparing Thor 2 and MoS is pretty interesting. People seem to hate on Thor 2 because it's bland. The villain is forgettable, the romance is forced, and the action is unimpressive. On the other hand, people who don't like MoS seem to find it actively objectionable. Some of the stuff it tries to get away with borders on offensive in the eyes of its harshest critics.

Which is the bigger sin, to leave the theater feeling apathetic or feeling upset?

Of course, this is a DC thread so I already know most people in here are going to prefer MoS over Thor 2. I'm not seriously posing that question. But both movies are disliked and slighted for very different reasons. I'd argue that MoS as more in common with ASM2 in why they're hated than it does with Thor 2.

Holy shit.

This looks so fucking good, so much of dat beautiful Fong photography hnnngh.

Watchmen was beautiful and this will be too.

This movie is pretty much going to be TDKR isn't it? Please. YAAS.

I've been watching reactions to this trailer since it was released. God there was one where the guy was literally drawn to tears by it lol.

This fucking movie

Based Snyder

the hand to hand fight scene confirms that this Bat would wreck Bale's Bat. He looked fast and brutal as fuck.

huh? i feel like i've seen that exact style of fighting in the dark knight during the swat battle. down to the moves he makes.

he'll be a lot more mobile though going by that grappling shot but hopefully the CG body double isn't so obvious and we get more of that hand to hand stuff.

I saw this trailer at CC, and didn't quite get it until the second viewing.

I think making the two cities be next to each other is a bit of a stretch, but then it's a super hero movie and things change everywhere at all times.

Still can't get over how great smarmy ass Lex is. I think Jesse has got it down so far. People are putting down the direction of skewing younger/more modern but I think character wise, having a younger Lex grow older from young entrepreneur to grizzled businessman as Superman stays relatively the same in terms of fitness is just the kind of thing that would get under Lex's skin.

yup just by the trailer i love how his character is. hes a good actor anyways so i dont know why people think he wouldnt do a good job because he doesnt look like lex

Sorry, I forgot. It's been so long since I watched this show. I was like 8 or 9 years old!

It's fine, I found it. Dead Reckoning. Watching it now. It's actually pretty good. It's got Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman working together in a gorilla city against Grodd, whose trying to turn everyone into an ape. He succeeds enough so that we see Super Gorilla, Bat Gorilla and Wonder Gorilla. JL is a really great show.

Edit: What the heck. I just watched the whole episode. That scene never happened. Superman just invited Batman and Wonder Woman out for burgers. -Plasma Reus- lied to me.

Edit 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mTY737FRl4

That's the episode. Jerk.

So, I wonder, since Metropolis and Gotham are so close/sister cities, if that football game they filmed is still in the movie. I had heard rumblings that it was cut after Goyer's script got tossed.

the flash and shazam have the potential but yeah the tones set in the batman v superman trailers and especially suicide squad is clearly not going to get that jurassic world/avengers money.

which is fine since i still think they will be a success anyways.

It's Batman.

The only comic book hero that comes close to Spider-man's popularity.

Batman and Superman are in a movie together after 70+ years.

This shit is making a billion.

The more I rewatch the trailer, Eisenberg's dialogue just sticks out as really awkward.

The dude's drawl and general delivery doesn't do justice to Lex Luthor whatsoever.

He's the weakest link in this trailer :/

Snyder said he used TDKR for shots as a way of saying that Miller is a genius, but the story is original.

All I ever wanted was this to be TDKR, but ehh, I really love what I see in the trailers so far and I'll love it just for the photography and AWESOME MILLER BATMAN with FAT BAT symbol and proper cowl.

So much of what I've seen of Affleck so far makes me just love the film and I have no idea how it will hold up in the movie proper.

Everything just looks right.

not even close. i think hes the most interesting character

In what way? It's straight from the comics.

If anyone's acting from the trailer doesn't look suspect, it's Affleck, Irons, and Eisenberg IMO.

Wasn't sure about Eisenberg when he was announced but he's looking great.

Yeah that was one thing they said during the Q&A that took me by surprised. I always thought they were right across the Delaware bay from each other. Gotham being the jersey side and Metropolis being the Delaware side.

Nah, this trailer made me even more suspect of him than before. Lex only works as a single particular character type, and Eisenberg is not fulfilling it at all. The antithesis of Superman isn't and probably shouldn't be evil wierdo.

How about brains versus brawn? Because that's what I'm seeing with this trailer: Lex, knowing exactly how smart he is, how strong Superman is, and how to use both to get what he wants.
