Fighting Games Weekly | July 13-19 | Stream Monster Yearly: Evolution 2015

Yep, it's because people never bothered to investigate the game for themselves. Lots of folks complained about damage scaling but it's actually the same one as in SF4 and you could produce crazy damage using it.

It didn't help that a lot of the more damaging options required a bit more risk to get to while the lower damage options were extremely safe.

ShockingAlberto? Well known insider that has yet to be wrong.
Thanks for clarifying.

He got a PM from Bish. I don't if he's been banned. If he hasn't, there might be some validity to what he said. All he said though was please be patient or something like that. Marvel is interested in fighting games, Enzo posted up a fetish post detailing how the animated shows reference the series time and time again. The relationship is there and there is probably talks happening all the time between them. Remember, Capcom works on multiple games at a time and I'm pretty sure we're going to get a new versus or something with the same design of a versus game.

Was talking about the above.

That depended on team comp though, something that was still being discovered in Vanilla. You could probably take the knowledge we have of the game in general from 2013 and go into Vanilla again and it'd be a while different affair.

Timers in fighting games are not designed to be a gameplay "goal". It should be mostly irrelevant, only showing up to add pressure in the last moments of a drawn-out battle with a bunch of traded blows.

It's a fighting game after all. Characters need to fight!

Yeah, i don't want it in every game or anything. But having a more relevant timer as one game's special thing is not so bad. Playing around it makes for some really nice and tense gameplay in those last moments.

It feels like I'm talking to a door-to-door evangelical when you decide someone is saying something unpleasant about anything relating to Tekken.

Didn't catch this edit.

LOL @ you thinking I'm defending this game because it has Tekken characters in it. SFXTK plays nothing like Tekken and is based on the SFIV style.

Call me a door-to-door evangelical when you don't have any other relevant points to bring up.

Still waiting on clockwork to post that one-button infinite.

Here is your one-button infinite:

It's pointless to argue with you because while I'm trying to play chess, you're rolling Monopoly dice and moving a rook to the end of the board shouting "King me!" Feel superior. I don't care.

Also PacMan has one as well.

Also heads up for those heading to EVO, gaf member Rotanibor is hosting the Vampire Savior side tourney again this year!

At this pace, it's looking to be the biggest VSav tourney outside of Japan. I'll be playing and so will Haitani and a bunch of other killers (Note: I am not a killer). Also shoutouts to Mad Catz for hosting the finals stream!

If you wanna join in or want more info, hit up Roty over twitter by responding to this: https://twitter.com/ROTANIBOR/status/620678249593466880

SWEET!!

Now i hope the stream don't cross with MAHVEL or KI.

Cause UMvC3 didn't have any one button infinites non XF.

It was how shit vanilla SFxT plus the policies that killed it.

Not one. But both.

It's weird...MKX had all sorts of infinites and glitches and busted nonsense...easily on par with vanilla SFxT. The online is still icky. PC version is still icky. It also had its fair share of questionable DLC shenanigans. 30 dollar DLC announced day 0 for 4 characters and some costumes (when SFxT got crucified for 20 dollars / 12 characters DLC). Yet, no one minds, apparently.

I don't know...if 30 dollar / 4 character DLC is the new "accepted" precedent, I'm starting to wonder if we inadvertently killed our hero...while embracing our nemesis...

I forgot Pac-man was in the game.

It's amazing how SFxT completely botched including two legendary characters, while Sakurai did an impeccable job with both in Smash 4.

Mega Man wasn't botched in SFxT.

EDIT: Well he had that dumb glitch where he flew away, but I'm talking about his design here.

Kuro wasn't even tournament legal zzzz. Was there ever a ruling on megaman and pacman

All of these characters were tourney banned because they were exclusive to PS3. PC and Xbox am cry.

Even Kazuya had an easy infinite in SFXTK. That's not the heart of the problem, though. A lot of games have Day 1 infinites. The problem is people calling the games core gameplay system trash and thinking it's universal consensus.

All easy to accept when you like the game.

Yeah but even with those infinites, it isn't time out city and such.

That drives people away. People want to finish there opponent.

I always heard from most top players that SFxT was fun to play.

It was just super boring to watch. Literally CVS2 of our times. Well... CVS2 with less options and less damage.

Dude looks like the default CAW model

my OC is cole from infamous, but as a vampire
he's like blade because he's a daywalker too, but he's bald and has a cool backstory
he can shoot lightning too, and even though he only has one friend, he's loyal and will fight for justice

original character, do not steal

Yeah and how quickly did pros drop SFxT? They said it was fun due to Capcom trying to push it and hinting at big money.

Vanilla SFxT was trash. That is the one people knew.

Why SFxT is considered trash. Even though the patched version is a good game.

First impressions. Reason why we actually are in an one console scenario right now. Xbone and WiiU both had shitty launches.

there were multiple reasons why people dropped it. Also I remember sanford saying it was super fun to play and we all know the only money sanford is seeing is from NLBC.

1) boring to watch
2) took a lot of time
3) TO didn't know how to run the game (hello 2v2 in EVO?)
4) immense hate from viewers

You can't deny that it being a boring game to watch heavily killed the game. People that think stream chat/viewers don't effect the lifespan of a game are mad tripping.
