Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time. Fantastic movie. After Avengers, I was expecting more overhyped shit.

The Marvel side of MvC3 is super strange, because they did sound like they were behind it in a big way, and then just sort of...stopped. My assumption was that someone (*cough*Perlmutter*cough*) didn't like how many characters were in the game that couldn't be used in MCU movies but it was too late to change those aspects of the game. So they simply hung it out to dry.

There was also the problem where they were using voice actors from shows Marvel didn't own or were in the process of cancelling. They used the Earth's Mightiest Heroes (which was a fantastic show, better than the Avengers movies in my opinion) VAs for the Avengers, Spectacular Spider-Man for Spider-Man, etc. Marvel didn't want those voices identified with those characters.

Basically, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the story of a bunch of adults being babies.
I recall reading that Marvel penned a full story mode, but Capcom never used it.

Maybe some of the new characters in SFV will be born from the corpses of SFxT's Tekken cast
What T characters in that game have movesets good enough to bring over? Going to check Lili out. I only played with Ogre because he looked cool.

Wait. I actually own SFxT. Maybe I should turn it on for the first time.

Capcom Sentinel needs to get into the Marvel Universe somehow. It is actually a threat.
MvC2 Sentinel. :p

Both of these guys can potentially not make top 8 this year.

As good as they are, other players are about as good this year.
Fchamp will make top 8 unless he sticks to Phoenix when it isn't working. So yeah, he might not make it.

a variant on the mvc sentinel design actually got his own series, including a lil boy companion

that's right, mvc sentinel in the marvel universe is a good guy

also dead (also the lil boy is dead i think or xxxtreme or something retarded) because of a shitty event

edit:
i forgot to mention, the 'lil boy's name is "juston" lol

No idea breh, nor I'm I saying they should take entire movesets. They could take a few things here and there, expand on some concepts. *shrug*

Oh, I thought you had something in mind. Who was it..Kazuya, that could summon little orbs on the field? That was a neat idea.

I actually think the VAs they replaced are better than the ones they have now.

Out of the characters you like Hugo is the most conventional and you'd probably be forced to learn a lot about spacing, pokes, punishing and execution through him. El Fuerte's style is very much unlike any other characters and Gen's two different styles can be complicated for the vast majority of player, at all levels. Huge has some difficult combos and terrible matchups though. On the positive having to play against strong zoning characters as Hugo will force you to learn how to be patient and look for openings. On the negative side it will force you to get zoned out for 60 seconds and then pushed away once you get close while you learn what to look for and do in certain situations.

A lot of people would also suggest learning one of the more fundamental focused characters like Ryu, Chun-Li or Balrog. They tend to be very well rounded and are more "honest" than a lot of the cast so you won't have too many crutches to fall back on. You can also see the results of improving your execution rather quickly with them which is really satisfying. Since you like Fuerte's speed maybe you'd enjoy someone like Cammy as well.
Thanks. I've tried Cammy and had a lot of fun. I'll go with her.

I've played SFxTK in multiple sessions pre- and post- large patch. It's fun in the same way any fighting game is fun to pick up and fiddle around but there is a laundry list of things I dislike about that game that did not change after playing it. Not my point though, I'm not concerned with the specific details about balancing or any of that because I think it's completely irrelevant to the discussion and I'm scratching my head at why it "[a year later] its a good game doe" footnotes every post.

I already made this point above but I guess I'll be more clear:

I don't understand using corporate meddling as the scapegoat. I'm seeing blame and quality from the product itself relinquished to generally poor decision making as opposed to specifically the decisions made for SFxTK. Man, Capcom sure had some ass decision making at that time, right? No shit, that's a baseline.

So what decisions or titles had more bearing than others? Shitty Marvel contract is shitty Marvel contract, but they had a release plan akin to SF4 and a contract that was in place years before SFxTK became a thing considering MvC3s long dev cycle (assumption: I highly doubt SFxTK's was longer, so working story here is that SFxTK is brought into the picture afterwards), so that's not too bad, right? Tsunami happens, which as far as I can tell which was not a decision made by Capcom. Okay now our post-launch support has gone to shit, but we have all this content here that we can monetize. But now we're also making SFxTK, hmm. We have two games that are not ready for a full release, one of which has a more flexible release schedule (assumption considering TKxSF seems like it can come out between now and the second coming of Jesus), and one of which we know does not (UMvC3; common knowledge). And there the decision was made to release SFxTK in the following year and push UMvC3 up. UMvC3 is released to significant fanfare still, but no longer receives extended post-launch support because of the fallout and contraction of development, and the team is dissolved. SFxTK receives even greater backlash with lukewarm general reception, however it receives significantly more post-launch support and people are singing it's praises a year plus later.

There is no single error, there are a string of them. But the biggest thing here that I can see is that both titles had their quality and Capcom's brand reputation compromised because the release of SFxTK was prioritized. Policies and some rather poorly thought out marketing and gameplay decisions are icing on the cake, and one may argue are even byproducts of the aforementioned decision. It's SFxTK's fault, because the most influential decision here was throwing UMvC3 to the wolves to release SFxTK in it's busted state. If there's a part of the story I'm missing here or one of these assumptions are off, feel free to correct me, but yeah, I think it's pretty understandable why SFxTK is seen as the problem child in all of this.
Not everyone gives a shit about Marvel Enzo. ;)

they're way, way better

the new voices are so bad in comparison- even the stuff in marvel heroes is like.. absolutely bizarre in how much worse they are

I learned today that I'm going to have to work Friday, even though I was set have the day off.

Best of luck to y'all in your pools. I'll be cheering in spirit

His moveset and animations are great. Really hope they use him as inspiration for someone in SFV

His fireball was really unique and he could backdash out of his Special Step allowing for great pressure. I hope they make a character called Nij and give the character some of Jin's stuff from SFxT.

Angelic doesn't seem to know that Shuma can TAC glitch without burning XF.

Sad to see him drop Dormammu.

Lol @ Nij.

I would like such a character.

Where would he be from?

Yeah Jin's fireball game was so unique. All this SFxT talk is making me miss a game that I didn't play for more than two months. Looking back, the tekken characters all fit really well into the graphics engine. I think they might have actually been more suited for it than the street fighter characters were hah

I loved the character banter. Ghost Rider is one of my favorite superheroes and they nailed it.

All of them. Seriously. Most of the move sets in that game are nuts. I'd want Kuma

Bryan Fury was so much fun in SFxTKN. I just loved everything about him, even though I never cared for him in the Tekken series.
