I never won any of those raffle prices...

I got so excited when I won the Sega console. Good times....
and lots of soda cans.....

I'm debating whether I should upgrade from $60 --> $80, for the Kickstarter-exclusive DLC.

If it were just $20, I'd probably do it...but considering the strength of the CDN dollar, it's more close to $30 extra for me. Not sure it'd be worth it at that price.

Nozomi is worth it.

I think being the most successful Kickstarter game of all time will be a huge perception victory for the Shenmue franchise for a long time.

It re-launches the game in the public imagination in a big way. It demonstrates to the press, the industry, and fans, that the interest in Shenmue is more passionate than that which has coalesced around the most successful games on the platform.

I think people will remember the "most successful Kickstarter game" headlines when Shenmue III hits retail in several years, and I think it will be hard for Sony (and Shenmue III's other partners) to look at the campaign as anything but a roaring success if it has bested all precedents in its category.

Sorry guys.

I'm responding to filly from yesterday, who tried to come up with reasons by a leap of logic for Bloodstained fans.

I'm not questioning Shenmue in any form, or talking about the potential future profile being heightened or Sony or whoever. Those are some well meaning points Erevador but have zero to do with what I'm saying to filly. I should've left it but oh well.

I hope it'll reach 6M to at least have the first battle enhancements stretch goals.

Dunno what it is, specifically, because 'advanced free battle' is kinda vague, but at least we'll have this.

Now that I've finally pledged (a month later), I feel a satisfaction that I can finally play through my copies of 1 and 2. I never played them in their era.

I picked them up only ~2 years ago. Really loved what I played of 1... totally got the methodical vibe of being in an 80s Japanese village (and watching my Japanese ex at the time react to the nostalgia, I could tell it tapped into something authentic).

...But I didn't play far. Why? It felt sad. These were aging games that represented something that would forever be unfinished. I have no aversion to old games (I regularly play a lot older than that), but it was a buzzkill to know it was going nowhere.

It's funny how things change with new events, and these old games now emanate a warm glow. In the light of S3, I am super pumped to go back and experience them.

It is awesome playing Shenmue without that dark cloud of tragedy hanging over the experience. It makes me curious about every little detail, knowing that it could be something that will be addressed in Shenmue III.

Just upgraded from the PS4 physical copy to the $80 tier.

Except how do I make sure I get a PS4 physical copy now that I can't choose which version to get?

09:00 (BST): $5,461,598 - 60,782 backers
10:00 (BST): $5,482,471 - 60,919 backers

$20,873
137 backers

Hours left: 16
Average needed per hour to hit $6M: ~$32k

Yes Disk 4 from Shenmue II takes on a completely different context now that we will be getting a third game.

It was always bitter sweet coming to that cliffhanger and as years went by with no news only more and more painful. It's exciting to know we are finally in a position to get a conclusion.

Indeed I'm up to the last disk of 2 now and reaching the conclusion will feel far less depressing. It'll be nice chatting with Shenhua and watching for any hints of what's to come.

In Shenmue 1, how far is the game's end from the forklift races? I recall my save file corrupting after my first race and never returning to finish it. Instead, I jumped straight into Shenmue 2. Did I miss much?

Amazing thank you from all of us here ..

I'm at 580 I will try to push it tomorrow even of the extra 20 to 600 but I'm already way over my limit haha but fuck it its shenmue!!!

I'm thinking of pushing too , maybe make a few extra accounts and get some extra hard copies. My wallet!! Someone hold me!!!

Edit. Also nearing 5,5 Mil. !!! Bloodstained we are at your door , 6 Mil. we are coming for you!!

You missed a fair bit of the last disks action including a few QTE/free battles with Mad angels, 70 man battle and Chai confrontation among other things.

More than half way, you defo got a feel for the game, but missed out a lot of fun stuff at the harbour - most of the fights. Plus a few cut scenes.

Maybe watch the last half of the Shenmue movie (it's on YouTube)

I upped my pledge to the $600 tier, which is the absolute maximum I can afford. It's a teensy bit unclear whether the PS4 physical is included with that, but I assume it is. It better be, anyway! :P

Oh actually, maybe I got further than I thought, I certainly recall the 70 man battle. Anyway, thanks. I'll save myself for the inevitable HD versions which Sega are about to announce any second now...

Or now...

How about now...

Hmm, I'll wait a bit longer then.

I haven't pledged a penny but can't wait for the game. Can't justify payment and a 2 year wait.

But the game will be a little bit better if you pay now! It's not like a normal project where a publisher is fronting a ton of money and hoping they make it all back once it hits shelves.

I'll probably up my pledge to either the 175 one or 300. Depends on how much i can convince myself i can spend.

Kind of a shame this happened when i have the least amount of money ive had in years.

I've up my pledge from $29 to $80 but why KS is not asking for shipping money?
Can someone tell me how much is shipping to Malaysia?

Uhhh ill prob do it through paypal but not really a fan of this model. Most games end up pretty crummy through it for some reason. Except Shovel Knight.

I was at the same place with you. That art book is amazing even by itself but that illustration with Yu's signature is a must. I convinced myself that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity , i definitely see it being worth it.

Guys, guys, the real news of the day - some loser backed the Bait & Tackle tier. Somebody out there in the big wide world is paying $1,800 to name a virtual fishing rod.

I really hope he isn't a gaffer.
