Nozomi is worth it.I'm debating whether I should upgrade from $60 --> $80, for the Kickstarter-exclusive DLC.
If it were just $20, I'd probably do it...but considering the strength of the CDN dollar, it's more close to $30 extra for me. Not sure it'd be worth it at that price.
Having not played Shenmue I/II, I'll take your word for it, haha.Nozomi is worth it.

I think being the most successful Kickstarter game of all time will be a huge perception victory for the Shenmue franchise for a long time.
It re-launches the game in the public imagination in a big way. It demonstrates to the press, the industry, and fans, that the interest in Shenmue is more passionate than that which has coalesced around the most successful games on the platform.
I think people will remember the "most successful Kickstarter game" headlines when Shenmue III hits retail in several years, and I think it will be hard for Sony (and Shenmue III's other partners) to look at the campaign as anything but a roaring success if it has bested all precedents in its category.
You could watch Suzuki's Nico interview.
He addresses many of your questions. I understand there are some spoilers from 39-41 minute mark so perhaps you can skip that.
It is awesome playing Shenmue without that dark cloud of tragedy hanging over the experience. It makes me curious about every little detail, knowing that it could be something that will be addressed in Shenmue III.Now that I've finally pledged (a month later), I feel a satisfaction that I can finally play through my copies of 1 and 2. I never played them in their era.
I picked them up only ~2 years ago. Really loved what I played of 1... totally got the methodical vibe of being in an 80s Japanese village (and watching my Japanese ex at the time react to the nostalgia, I could tell it tapped into something authentic).
...But I didn't play far. Why? It felt sad. These were aging games that represented something that would forever be unfinished. I have no aversion to old games (I regularly play a lot older than that), but it was a buzzkill to know it was going nowhere.
It's funny how things change with new events, and these old games now emanate a warm glow. In the light of S3, I am super pumped to go back and experience them.
You'll get a survey at the end, and can choose PS4 physical copy then.Just upgraded from the PS4 physical copy to the $80 tier.
Except how do I make sure I get a PS4 physical copy now that I can't choose which version to get?

Indeed I'm up to the last disk of 2 now and reaching the conclusion will feel far less depressing. It'll be nice chatting with Shenhua and watching for any hints of what's to come.It is awesome playing Shenmue without that dark cloud of tragedy hanging over the experience. Was thinking about getting my hands on Shenhua bust, but it looks like I'm a bit too late.

I'm at 580 I will try to push it tomorrow even of the extra 20 to 600 but I'm already way over my limit haha but fuck it its shenmue!!!
In Shenmue 1, how far is the game's end from the forklift races? I recall my save file corrupting after my first race and never returning to finish it. Instead, I jumped straight into Shenmue 2. Did I miss much?

10.000$ to 5'5 million
I upped my pledge to the $600 tier, which is the absolute maximum I can afford. It's a teensy bit unclear whether the PS4 physical is included with that, but I assume it is. It better be, anyway!![]()
Update News:
PS4 physical copy now a platform choice! All tiers $60 and above will include your choice of the following:
PS4 Physical Copy
PS4 Digital Copy
Windows PC Physical Copy
Windows PC Digital Copy
*Changes to Reward pledge buttons are not allowed after they are pledged for, so please see the "Rewards" section below for complete Reward details.

You missed a fair bit of the last disks action including a few QTE/free battles with Mad angels, 70 man battle and Chai confrontation among other things.
Oh actually, maybe I got further than I thought, I certainly recall the 70 man battle. Anyway, thanks. I'll save myself for the inevitable HD versions which Sega are about to announce any second now...More than half way, you defo got a feel for the game, but missed out a lot of fun stuff at the harbour - most of the fights. Plus a few cut scenes.
Maybe watch the last half of the Shenmue movie (it's on YouTube)
I haven't pledged a penny but can't wait for the game. Can't justify payment and a 2 year wait.
I've up my pledge from $29 to $80 but why KS is not asking for shipping money?
Can someone tell me how much is shipping to Malaysia?
But the game will be a little bit better if you pay now! It's not like a normal project where a publisher is fronting a ton of money and hoping they make it all back once it hits shelves.
I'll probably up my pledge to either the 175 one or 300. Depends on how much i can convince myself i can spend.
Kind of a shame this happened when i have the least amount of money ive had in years.
