A couple of good Hunter pals and I went to check out the real Gathering Hall in London last weekend - suffice to say, it was totally badass. Here are some pics:

The people there were really friendly, and it was pretty much deserted (Sunday afternoon) so they snuck us some free stuff! Each got a couple of t-shirts, a cool PSP bag, and a little monster figurine.

There are often Hunter workshops/tutorials, competitions, and other events going on - in fact, there's something big going down this coming Sunday. Any GAF Hunters happen to be in central London, you gotta check it out. They close up shop at the end of August, so be sharpish!

Wow that would be so cool to go to but Relentless is right, its hard to find a good place to host one of these. Best bet would be one of the larger cities, ie. Seattle, LA, Boston, New York, etc. Otherwise we too spread out over here :(

Hey MHFU fans,

I don't know if this already exists or how useful it will be to other people, but I made a little web app that will list all the available combinations to you for your Felyne Kitchen. I had real trouble remembering all the different combos and their respective bonuses so I wanted a way where I can just check off the options the chefs have given me, and let the computer do the work!

It's free for anyone to use, so just go to http://www.matoyascave.com/mhfu/

It should be pretty self explanatory. You just click the tab corresponding to how many Felyne Chefs you have, and then check off which options they've given you. Click Find Combos and voilà!

I tested it on FireFox and Internet Explorer. Please tell me if you find any problems.

It works great on Google Chrome. Thanks for the app!

amazing game... i havent played it, until a friend, because he didnt like it, sold it to me for cheap :D

Im currently rank 3, but im having a hard time to beat these monsters:

Khezu (Killed it once, but always kick my ass when it is almost dead when he speed up and deal more dmg)
Plesioth (I havent fought it a lot, just a couple of times, but it deals a lot of dmg)
Gypceros
Rathalos (the quest rank 2)
Rathian (same as above)

I use long sword, and currently have "Bone Katana "Shark", and my armor set is Melahoa, upgraded to max using armor spheres (to upgrade more i need to use the armor sphere+), this set give me gathering +2 and High Speed gathering skills.

Questions...

A good armor (or better armor than my Melahoa set) to fight those monsters?
Its a good choice to upgrade my weapons or just wait until a better one appear at the crafter?
Its upgrading low rank armors a good idea? I almost feel I will regret upgrading that set to max using all my armor spheres... Should I "save" my current armor if I buy another one? or should I sell it to the crafter?

thanks in advance

A good easy set to start with is the Kut Ku armor... it's not too hard to get and it gives you extra attack power.

But doesnt the minus resitances bring a big impact when wearing it against some monsters?

Im actually considering getting the Khezu Armor, dont know, looks kind of "cool" at the crafter, but i dont know if the rec speed and widearea skills will give me and actually advantage :( Or maybe hermitaur armor because if the guard and defense skills...

Damn this game has a lot of armors and i cant decide... quick question, can i dye the armor or it just the same color forever?

kut ku does have its minuses yes, but on the other side note it has decent output damage... so in other words you take more damage to deal more damage... i guess :lol

You shouldn't be sticking with only one armor type. There are multiple sets that give different skills, so you should be making lots of different armor sets depending on the monster you're fighting. Kut Ku is the one of the better armor early on, but you should try and make a Garuga set if you are able to fight it. The set gives HGE, Sharp Sword, and Sharpness with a few gems here and there. It's a great set that can last you fairly decently, though it you're already at HR4, the Rathalos U should be the set to work on.

Another thing i dont get it, i saw a youtube video of a guy fighting a khezu with a long sword, he attacked it on the legs, but for some reason, my attacks always jump back. My sharpness is at maximum, so maybe there something im missing... what makes your weapon to rebound at hard skin?
EDIT: damn my attacks keep rebounding, its frustating :S

Oh, and what about weapon upgrading? is it worth it? Right now i can update my current sword, but i fear when i pass to rank 4, there will be better weapons, and i will just throw materials away...

The color of your sharpness effects whether or not your attacks are going to bump off an enemy. Certain monsters have really high armor in parts of their bodies, so at this point in the game, your attacks will bounce off regardless. If your attacks bounce off, you're either going to need to gem yourself to bypass that, or get a stronger weapon that has blue sharpness and up. Likewise, you should always be updating your weapons if you can, you're not at a point yet where Rath. Rubies and Monoblos Hearts are going to be a problem, so upgrade away.

Well thanks for the tips... I will upgrade my weapon because thats why those monster always kicked my ass.... i couldnt hurt them -_-'

Oh well, I saw something i didint notice before, and its that my current rank is 1! :lol I thougth the rank was the number of starts in my quest selection, so LV *** was rank 3 :(.

So, im rank 1 and im almost 40 hours in this game! anyway, thanks of the tips, now khezu is really easy :lol

God I love this game more every second...

So, again a quick question: Currently my crafter show me the Kut-ku mail, vambraces and tasset, but it doesnt show me the helmet nor the greaves.

I thought it always made available all the set... Is there something I need to do to buy all the set? or simply progress in the game and it will show the missing pieces?

Unlocking armor parts require you to have gotten a specific drop from the monster. So for example, a Azure Rathalos Soul helmet only pops up if you carve an Azure Rathalos Wing. So just keep fighting away until you get more drops from carves.

In order to unlock the helmet and greaves you need to get "kut ku ears".You'll need 4 of them in order to craft both pieces.
You have a 50% chance to get the ears when you break them (by hitting constantly kut ku's head) and you have a 10% chance when you get its drop (shiny thing kut kus drop when you throw them a sonic bomb).
Breaking the ears in the two-stars mission may be a little difficult at first since the kut-ku has a very low life and often dies before you can break them. If you are having problems getting them in the two-stars mission you can try in the blue kut-ku 3-star mission. It has more life and hits harder so you need to be careful.

Khezu was the first critter I had problems with. Upgrade one of your weapons to Green sharpness, then you should be able to hack through him.

If you really want an edge, craft a fire weapon, but it isn't necessary. You can also bring a pile of bombs to help out.

I'm going for a full orbituary testa X setl... got all but gloves... annoying to get lightning sacs from Trenya's boat...

I realize she has a higher chance of getting rarer items if I do G-ranked hunting quests instead of lower ranked stuff.

I'm genna try and be on... 50% i will or wont.

All i need is lightning sacs and maybe some blangonga fangs+ but other than that nothing else... I'd be at everyone's disposal. Pretty soon though I think I'm genna finally start workin on HR9, but I'd strictly be doing it with peeps... too scary for me to solo :lol

Hey is there a way to "hide" my helmet?

When I selected my hair style, I was looking to "look" cool fighting big monsters with it. And it does, but after buying my first helmet, it just shows the helmet... is there a way to hide it? or any good helmet that shows the original hair style? or every helmet hide the hair style?

While I haven't tried it, there are different earrings that you can buy, on the list of helmets. they don't actually have any "art" (as there is no preview by hitting select at the store) This is probably your best bet to maintain defense of a helmet, and also run around with your guys hair out.

I might be on later too. I was sad to miss the MH mondays. Was there a good turnout yesterday?

Oh thats good to know... I hope they are decorable, because i guess there is no "set" for those earrings.

I have seen some helmets but they look like a tiara or something at the preview.

Does they change my hair to look the same like the preview? or its just a sample of how it looks with random hair style? I probably just try and buy the tiara and if i dont like it just reload :lol I just thought that :S too bad i'm at work

I hung around J-2 for about an hour while I was doing some g-rank training, but I wasn't in the mood to do any more than 2 quests that I did (plum GS and blangonga GS). Incidentally, I only need to do lava GS and rajang LS to unlock the g-rank fata. There was an 8 person room that disappeared and everyone left. Very disappointing.

The best piercings you get from beating the training school quests (all weapons for all monsters). There's a piercing for beating all the battle training, one for all the special training, and one for all the g-rank training.

I just started playing this and im pretty new. If there are any new people that wanna play with me then my PSN ID is: LabombadogIGN

Hope to see you guys online! :D

Superb.

Im currently on the Guild Dual Tigrex quest, trying to get my timing right for using a GS, very frustrating but after all the other things I have fought the Tigrex seems a little slower than I remember it.

God im trying to get me a pale khezu steak at the moment to get my true d.s but am having no luck so far. Just to check you can get it from the 7* elder quests cant you? If anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it as im also having a bit of trouble on the dual monoblos urgent quest (which is why im determined to upgrade me LS).

Ok, im stuck again...
Im HR2 and basarios is giving me a headache just like khezu. My LS keeps bouncing, but this time ALL of my attacks bounce...

My sword is a Eager Cleaver, it has green sharpness and thunder attrib, and my armor is, the same Melahoa Set.

But right know there are no new weapons, i cant upgrade because the next version needs more advanced materials and there is no LS with better sharpness at the crafter...

Should I change my weapon to fight it or there is a way to kill it with LS in my currect situation?

Anyway, to make High level armor (like U or S) it will need Low level materials? I havent bought a new armor set because I cant decide which one or if its ok to spend all the rare materials like ears, wings, etc...

To get high level armor can I buy a low level, and ugrading it with armor spheres it will become a high level armor? or i need to craft it when it its available?

Whats the best way to get Garuga Wings? Is there a way like Kut Ku ear? throwing a sonic bomb after ripping its ears?

Damn, a lot of questions :P

Damn, a lot of questions :P

First question:
I probably would recommend a bow with Pierce Shot. Bowing Low Rank Basarios is a lesson in patience, but it is very easy to dodge the majority of it's attacks with a roll or two.
*Edit*If you want to do melee, try Hammer. Basarios' stomach is its weakpoint. Try not to get caught in its poison cloud or hipcheck if you go this route, though.

Second Q:
You need to fight High Rank monsters to make High Rank armor (S, U). Those monsters would be in Elder 7* - 9*, or Guild Hall 6* - 8*(HR4 - HR6).

Third Q:
Upgrading an armor merely ups its defense, and doesn't change its rank. You could upgrade, if you wanted to, but then again you'd probably find a better armor later.

Fourth Q:
Just beat on a Garuga's head with a Hammer until you break its ears. You might break its beak first, just keep trying. Garuga Ears are sort of rare. You'll get it in the rewards for the quest.

sotodefonk said:

Just attack his wings constantly until the claws at the tips are broken off. Doesn't matter if you bounce, just keep attacking. Once they're broken, you get a bonus reward after completing for breaking them and you'll either get Garuga Scale x2 (20% chance) or Garuga Wing (80% chance). Garuga has 4 things that can be broken besides cutting off the tail: Beak, Ears, Wings, and Back (yes, you can break his back). Also, Garuga is weak to water. If you have any water weapons, definitely use them. He's also semi weak to ice, but not nearly enough as water.

JRPereira said:
I've pretty much just gotten used to bouncing against basarios. You can whittle 'em away without ever making an actual cut.

But recovering from that bounce to attack again makes that battle last twice as long. Try to get ESP

I remember being afraid of Nargacuga based on what i heard on AD HOC, but he is like the perfect monster to kill with a fire long sword. So easy to dodge.

Why the hell is there no G rank Lunastra? Did the developers ever say?
