I do think Nicki got some great verses on a lot of songs but I don't think I've ever listened to an album and thought "wow this is a great album."

It's probably a financial bottom line thing. I'm guessing there's still a lot of people (kids?) who watch it, meaning their and their parents' wallets, as well as the wallets of the industries that cater to that demographic. Or something. It's about money, always.

Fuck that. Taylor Swift is supposed to look at her accolades and decide which ones she earned purely because of racism? How are you supposed to prove any such nomination had race behind it? We really expect musicians to say, "Don't give me this award, you might only want to because I'm white?" And if you don't say this, then a feminist call for solidarity is just the "excuse" for why you're not calling out yourself for having racial advantage?
If there were really an objective way to tell what's going on with these nominations or a leaked behind-the-scenes or something I would understand the outrage against Tswift, but what the fuck. All she said was, "making me feel like shit for being skinny is not very feminist." Which is correct. Nicki fired the first shots and her fans are being assholes.

She was talking about media bias when it comes to women and body shaming in America. Clearly Nicki didn't get nominated because her video was trashy. MTV doesn't want to reward her for that. MTV doesn't want to give her what she is due because her body proportions are unrealistic and quite frankly, they don't want their image to promote such vulgar things.... But Wrecking Ball is totally acceptable.
Funny, Miley and MTV got raked for her tweaking stunt at the VMAS 2 years ago...... Miley is now hosting the VMAS. Why wasn't Nicki? Why is she once again delegated to a ghetto that she can only possibly win in? Beat female? Best Hip Hop? When Anaconda was a successful crossover hit?

Again, why is Kendrick Lamar nominated if this is about marginalizing hip hop. If this is about ignoring black women with a certain body type, why is Beyonce nominated. Throw in Bruno Mars and you have three people of color nominated for video of the year.
