Freedom, after this leak, why does Hogan deserve the benefit of the doubt? The benefit of the doubt isn't something you are entitled to. It is a privilege one has when they have yet to give you reason to doubt them. This leak gives us reason to doubt Hogan. The burden is on Hogan to demonstrate that those views are not his today. The very first step of that is acknowledging that his views in the past were racist. He didn't even do that.

I suppose i went down the wrong path regarding the whole benefit of the doubt thing. What I was getting at mostly is that there's nothing to suggest that the person who said that stuff is the HH of today. simple enough

that he has to prove that to us is of course an understandable thing. We know he was a racist, he needs to prove he isn't if he's being sincere about his apology. Personally, i have a hard time holding people to things they said or did that long ago regardless of whether they're a celebrity, a family member, a friends, or a stranger if they're showing contrition regarding what they said or did (outside of a terrible crime of course).

I dunno, I like to think that most people are trying to better themselves more often than not.

this may be due to trauma, but I am not 1% surprised by this news. I'm not particularly bothered by it, either. He's white, American, and... yeah, that was generally enough for me as a child to concede with a sigh that someone was capable of thinking a race to be inferior. I guess what I'm saying is I prepared for it a long time ago. I dunno. If you told me any white celeb (like seriously, pick one) was racist I would probably kind of shrug. It's part of American culture, and has been since before America was a country.

I don't think wiping him from the record books for racist remarks is appropriate, I mean elected officials have kept their jobs doing far worse. And there would be no WWE today without Hogan. Just make sure you educate people on the bad as well as the good, I say.
