I bet you that the only reason why they even announced a NX version so early is because we don't even know if it's a handheld or a console.

Well, anyways, the NX might be Android//iOS compatible for a second screen function (as opposed to a proprietary tablet controller), so I'll keep my hopes up for that version! I like this feature too much, and if the 3DS is the only one to support it, I'll get that then.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
I read somewhere that it would be at least 1 year after the Arcade release before they port it to PS4 but I don't remember where I read that.
I completely forgot that existed and I really haven't seen a lot of fanfare for it but nonetheless I edited the post to add it.
Is it? The PS4 is the best selling console right now and the 3DS is the best selling handheld. The 3DS appeals heavily to the Japanese market and the PS4 has been chosen for strategic reasons.
While I didn't expect a NX version it's not something which comes to me as a surprise because of the relationship Nintendo and Square Enix in regards to the Dragon Quest franchise.
Definetly an amazing lineup and the JRPGs side of it rivals with the golden age support of the PS2/PS1 days.
Now we only have to hope that all those titles deliver with quality.

edit , seems i got some date wrong , Lost Odyssey is a late 07 game . A shout out to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn from 2007 too since that game took around 60 plus hours to complete.

I'm excited. An RPG to be happy about. I'm glad they didn't make it N3DS only. I still enjoy my 3DS with all my extra content on there. I'm ready to get this.

But I've never really played a Dragon Quest game except for one on PS2. But I was young and don't remember anything except for the fact I thought it was a Dragonball Z RPG.

Also, if they don't bring out the 3DS version of this game to the west, it just means I won't get to play it.

No, the DQ event was a Japan thing. If they want announce a localization it'll be in events like Gamescom next week.

Not on a Japanese stream for Japanese audiences. There was a bit about the live TV commercial for VIII that's getting made in Poland, so that pissed off people a bit, but nothing.
The last we heard of them was contradictory as over two days, Horii mentioned in an interview they were looking into it (ie noncommittal "nothing to announce") and on the next day he offhandedly announced they were releasing them in French (ie in Europe so most likely worldwide).
TLDR: that wasn't the place for such announcements but something might turn up in the coming months, probably through PR or at a Western conference.

And then just thinking that Shenmue 3 is real and will be on PS4 and The Last Guardian reappeared looking amazing and will be on PS4. It's all some sort of crazy ass dream. Now I truly do believe in the Matrix. Too much goodness occurring around me. This can't be real.

Gamescom is next week. Considering Horii's comments at Japan Expo in France, I would imagine that they're coming... eventually.
