Tom Brady's Suspension Appeal News

Marital affair type stuff?

I like where your head is at.

Lets let this thought run out...Brady is actually completely innocent, however there is the biggest bombshell ever hidden which makes this all worth while.

Brady sex with underage boys. Thailand. Sky's the limit!!!

In all honesty I feel any scenario where Brady did not knowingly cheat by requesting deflated balls extremely unlikely at this point.

I also feel like this is so far overblown it isn't even funny. Like - if a pitcher was caught spitting on a baseball for an advantage is a bigger deal to game outcome.

Brady committed a crime?

This is 100% true. They got obliterated in the last CBA. There aren't many winners in this except people that really really hate the Patriots yet don't care that much about the NFLs future or corporate power.

Serious question: This is the biggest legal action in NFL history, right? At least since the FA case? Think about that - it's incredible.

This is what blows me away. I put the Patriots in my top 3 "hated" teams, and I think the punishments to all involved except Brady are WAY out of line. Even Brady should have been a 2 game (maybe it would have been - but his behavior has essentially demanded this type of response).

The CBA in most ways has been good for the owners, the sport and parity overall. But it gave Goodall too much power (need independent arbitration), doesn't do enough for players, especially something for retired medical for game related injuries.

Nice of the NFL to hide the fact that Brady provided the league with the phone numbers of everyone he texted with. They chose to not contact anyone. How convenient. Should be a fun court battle.

The Colts should have been punished for taking the Patriot's ball and testing it themselves, which violated league rules. Neither the Patriots or Tom Brady specifically should have been punished at all. The evidence does not show that the balls were deflated (on the contrary, it suggests they were not deflated, and that if they were it could only have been by such a small amount nobody could tell the difference). The way Brady spoke openly about preferring balls inflated to the lower end of the limit is hardly evidence that he was also orchestrating a secret scheme to deflate them below that.

Essentially, Brady is being punished because the NFL didn't have an even halfway decent system in place to test ball pressure (they used random gauges with wildly different accuracy, did not write down results or which gauge was used) and because the Colts broke league rules. The NFL can never admit that now because it would implicate them and the Colts. Unfortunately for Brady, the lack of evidence allows the NFL to act like Brady not giving them his personal cell phone (as he is obviously not required to do) is enough to overcome their laughable procedures, the Colts rule breaking, and prove some nebulous scheme all by itself.

It's an incredible display of incompetence and ego on both sides that it ever got to this point.

Edit: Forgot the concussion suit.

Guess who was the lawyer for the NFL on the concussion suit? Brad S Karp, who also happens to be one of the investigators on the Wells report.

Good. Its been unreal watching the number of people that want this guy to get away with it. Never seen a single human being caped so fucking hard in my life. Especially with the way other sports stars get immediately thrown under the bus as soon as they do ANYTHING remotely wrong.

You have guys that want players ejected from games and suspended for flopping in the NBA, yet these guys flat out cheat and everyone wants him to get off?

Child please. Looking forward to the NFL destroying him in court too so these folks can all learn a lesson with his cheating ass. Sometimes actions have consequences. Deal with it.

I am personally of the opinion that there is a lot more to this story that the NFL knows and it would make Brady look much worse. The NFLPA probably got it suppressed like they tried to suppress the phone destruction.

I love reading Brady-apologists cherry picking. They have their heads buried so deep in his ass, they are choking on Giselle's watches, bracelets and assorted hand ewelry

What does it say?

Here

I am very disappointed by the NFL’s decision to uphold the 4 game suspension against me. I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organization did either.

Despite submitting to hours of testimony over the past 6 months, it is disappointing that the Commissioner upheld my suspension based upon a standard that it was “probable” that I was “generally aware” of misconduct. The fact is that neither I, nor any equipment person, did anything of which we have been accused. He dismissed my hours of testimony and it is disappointing that he found it unreliable.

I also disagree with yesterdays narrative surrounding my cellphone. I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline.

Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong.

To try and reconcile the record and fully cooperate with the investigation after I was disciplined in May, we turned over detailed pages of cell phone records and all of the emails that Mr. Wells requested. We even contacted the phone company to see if there was any possible way we could retrieve any/all of the actual text messages from my old phone. In short, we exhausted every possibility to give the NFL everything we could and offered to go thru the identity for every text and phone call during the relevant time. Regardless, the NFL knows that Mr. Wells already had ALL relevant communications with Patriots personnel that either Mr. Wells saw or that I was questioned about in my appeal hearing. There is no “smoking gun” and this controversy is manufactured to distract from the fact they have zero evidence of wrongdoing.

I authorized the NFLPA to make a settlement offer to the NFL so that we could avoid going to court and put this inconsequential issue behind us as we move forward into this season. The discipline was upheld without any counter offer. I respect the Commissioners authority, but he also has to respect the CBA and my rights as a private citizen. I will not allow my unfair discipline to become a precedent for other NFL players without a fight.

Lastly, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the support of family, friends and our fans who have supported me since the false accusations were made after the AFC Championship game. I look forward to the opportunity to resume playing with my teammates and winning more games for the New England Patriots.

Yeah, just read that. He should go to court if he already provided all phone records that the NFL requested. If he's that confident then he should win in court.

The NFL is taking him to court as they've announced yesterday: https://twitter.com/soshnick/status/626112125132505093

There will be a negotiation between the court systems in NY and Minn (where the Brady camp will go). Minn will win because the NFL offices are in NY and it will not be allowed (union based rules in the U.S.)

The main thing that does for the NFL is it stalls the decision because the courts have to talk, etc and that takes a few weeks.

What could Brady possibly gain out of winning this court case aside from having his suspension voided?

Could he countersue for defamation? Is there any potential danger to Goodell's job? That's my one wish out of all this--I want Goodell gone.

Why the hell would Goodell lose his job? He is literally just following the rules here.

Just get the games removed so he can play.

Defamation will not happen as that is primarily money related and it would bring evidence back in and such. No idea if he would want to go that route just for money.

Goodell has no fears for his job directly related to these cases and stuff. That is all the owners decision (like a CEO)

Her purposely tried to negate the rules set forth by the CBA so that he could be the arbitor in the case against brady.

If what SalPal said was the actual truth it all makes sense. His decisions have been strongly based upon a small minority of very vocal owners he really want to stick it to the Patriots.

Ya know, the same owners that think Spygate was the Patriots taping practices, or had hidden cameras and mics in other teams huddles and purposely turned the CBS video scren outside Gillette stadium so they could see broadcast images that the opposite team couldn't, uugghh.

Goodell is safe, but him as an arbitor will never happen again.

Yup, and as far as I've read it takes away Brady's ability to file an injunction and be on the field week 1.

How will this go down in Minn, then? Will everyone be heard again, are they able to request a statement from McNally and/or Jastremski under oath about this or will they decide about the case only based on the evidence that's there already?

It's slightly amusing that Brady's reputation is being dragged through a mile of shit because of a billionaire drug addict can't get over the fact his franchise QB never amounted to what Brady amounted to.

Administrative proceedings generally rely on preponderance of the evidence, aka 51% chance the accused did it. Not beyond a reasonable doubt like a criminal court case.

Is he going to argue his due process rights were violated or that the NFL violatated their own rules? Because that's what a court is going to care about the most. Appeals like these also generally rely on the existing evidence, not additional stuff.

You seriously insulting a man because of an addiction problem? That's how low you want to go, huh? Drug addiction isn't some joke.

when he was driving erratically, highly intoxicated, putting the lives of everyone around him at risk?

Yea, I don't feel to bad.

No. It has nothing to do with any evidence. This will be only on the process of arbitration, or put another way company vs. union member. The NFL filing under NY delays the chance for an injunction, because the judge who will review the case can not give an injunction until that court is chosen. It is still possible the NFL delayed it to push an injunction past week 1, in which case Brady may have to serve part of the suspension. That will open a WHOLE can of new worms, especially if the arbitration is dropped by the court.

Removing fanboyism, If you are fan of corporations, you want the NFL to win. If you are pro consumer/union, you want Brady to win (personal rights, union umbrella, etc).

This has nothing to do with the he did/did not do it.

I am a Patriots fan btw :)

The BEST scenario in my option though is that the courts drop the arbitration.

Brady plays week one.
Goodell tells ownership he did all he could and he shrugs it off.

not my post:

I can swallow any one of the Patriot's explanations individually. The deflator, the threat to take the story to ESPN, why the equipment guy said he pissed in a bathroom without a stall, the ball disappearance, Brady's 120 day cell phone lifespan...
But you cannot ask me to swallow all of them simultaneously. At a certain point this entire situation needs to be taken at face value.

Wha??? What does Irsay and his addiction have ANYTHING to do with this? Are Pats fans really going to "Well at least our QB has more rings than Peyton!!" argument? Wow.

Gotta protect the asterisks.

So true.

This has nothing to do with corporations v union. They're going to just be arguing about language of the CBA and what it really means. The only people who win are really the lawyers writing the next CBA who are going to be paid even more.

Not everyone, just the ones who are a mixture of living vicariously through their sports team and have a "my country, right or wrong" for said sports team. It's not even limited to successful sports teams. A couple of years ago, Sports Illustrated did a piece on alleged corruption within the OSU football program. OSU fans went nuts within MINUTES of it coming out. It quickly became the salt and tears routine the Pat fans are doing now, even up to and including the whole 'persecution' complaint. Except in this case, it was because they WEREN'T the biggest/most popular team.

Where is the lie? This is what makes the whole thing amusing.

That was in a conversation about overinflated balls. Context matters.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever the balls used in the game were under inflated. None.

Context does matter. Open up your eyes dude. Hes guilty. Admit it to yourself.

Open up my eyes? It's hilarious to me how many of you consider the wells report anything but trash. It's objectively bad. The science and methodology it contains are complete nonsense and this whole thing serves, partially, as an indictment of American science education.

Almost everyone so fervently pleading with some of us to "open our eyes" made up their mind about guilt the instant an accusation was made. The quality of the evidence and reason are irrelevant because they just know.
