This is from the end of yesterday so something might have changed.

Edit: Actually it is still correct because I just checked datdota.

surprised that Ogre and Jakiro aren't picked in this meta, to be honest

Ursa, Mirana, Warlock and Weaver are the once I will be shocked if they don't get grabbed at some point. The rest is the deepest of picket strats if the get picked at all. Maybe Spec or Medusa too.

I feel stupid but I'm going to ask anyway. Can someone tell me what the subtitle of the thread (dA vinci) have to do with TI/Dota? I feel like I missed a joke in the OT

Wow so many heroes that were extremely popular last year remained unpicked, i guess the meta did change a lot....sorry i haven't followed dota at all since last TI.

Yep, nerfing heroes will do that.

Except Kunnka, he has only got buffs but still isn't picked. Its sad

Agreed. Even iG aren't pulling out the ol' Shadow Demon/Kunkka roaming combo.

btw, why isn't Kunkka picked more often? Put him safelane, as a support, or even mid in some situations. We has low cooldown spells, can do great burst damage which can be magical at first but later on also does physical damage, great at teamfighting, excels at constant fighting because of his x marks the spot yourself, tp home, fill up your bottle and come back.

It's situational, but he can shine.

Umm i read that they changed Ursa's ult, is he trash tier now? That would suck because i liked Ursa.

He's.... different. His problems, mainly the whole everybody can kite him for days, is still a problem but his ulti makes him MUCH better at killing heroes/Roshan and makes him considerably tankier which can work in trying to counter ganks and stuff. Also, the ulti rework makes him slightly worse at taking towers than he was before.

It makes him an insane physical burst hero. You can kill Rosh really fast when you ult.

Thanks for explaining the changes to me, it's funny that you mention that he is better at killing heroes because i thought he was already pretty damn good at doing just that. Makes me want reinstall dota. Hopefully someone picks Ursa at this international.

LGD must be very happy with how it went in Group B. For EG and Secret to duke it out themselves if they both get through to the 2nd round. Same goes for iG and VG, they won't meet until the 4th round in LB, assuming they win all their games too.

RIP for ehome though, most likely facing Secret next.

I highly doubt someone's gonna pick Ursa for the following reasons.

1. The current meta is based on upon heroes who can teamfight early and consistently. High burst damage is particularly valued.

2. Lane dominators, particularly for mid, are becoming the norm so heroes that can easily snowball like QoP, Storm Spirit, Leshrac are extremely popular.

3. Ursa is flat out shit in a laning situation. There are much better caries that can do better in the laning phase.

4. Ursa's problems are still there, mainly that he can get kited easily. He has no stun unless he buys a hex or abyssal.

5. His Roshing potential is insanely high but the enemy team will know that as well. If 5 seconds go by and they haven't seen Ursa, the natural response will be that he's gone to rosh.

6. All of his damage is single target based, and unlike other carries like Wraith King, he can't start out as a support or have something else going for him like his tankiness.

I agree with all this. While this is an ok patch, the power creep for mobility and burst damage is out of control. Bkb needs a price drop, move speed needs to go back to where it was. Blink abilities need to be nerfed.

All this shit reks hereos like ursa.

At this point, how do you even nerf Gyro? Reduce flak cannon damage to 75% on sub-targets? Increase cd on Call Down? Rebalance the cast point of Rocket Barrage? Make skills more mana-consuming?

I would guess reducing some growth, making him less viable as a lategame hero. The only thing that needs to be nerfed is his ability to be fantastic in all parts of the game.

Change the meta.

Also, the hero as a concept just feels so unbalanced. A ranged hero who has an AOE magical damage ultimate with an insanely low cooldown, some of the most damaging early game magical spells, and can do spread damage that scales with his items so he's very good as a late game carry?

Literally all other carries have some form of drawback in return (squishiness, lack of mobility, high mana costs, suck at farming) but I just don't see any when it comes to Gyro.

Yeah, he needs a drawback. But I hope his laning doesn't get nerfed because I think that's the thing that makes him unique and fun compared to similar heroes.
