I know it worked for Win 8 Home, so worth a shot.
The thing is, this still won't give you much control over what's updated. It'll download and notify you of the updates, then when you go to install updates, it will install everything including that driver.
Thanks I'll continue to monitor the situation.
Well MS forced an update to the Intel graphics drivers and the errors have returned.
"THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER"
that's the error I receive no matter what version of AMD drivers I install. The problem is the Intel drivers. I uninstall the driver, and install a stable version... MS pushes an update, rinse and repeat, and it goes back and forth like that.
Can I upgrade to Pro or Enterprise if I'm coming from W7 Home Premium?
My problem is simple. I need to stop the damn auto updates.
You can pay a stupid amount for a pro upgrade yeah, but Pro barely does anything. Defer updates will just delay them for 8 months and then I'll install them anyway. Even with that on, one of the NVidia drivers still installed. Guess MS flagged that one as important. Same with SR1, got installed.
With Pro you can also change group policies to notify to download and notify to install, instead of automatically downloading and installing.
So odd one... I have had no real issues with Windows 10 since upgrading. But I had not noticed that my Start menu tiles almost all stopped working, the live tiles that is. My menu looks very blank.
I am probably going to just get static tiles, but I was curious if anyone has seen this?
News, weather, photos, all live tiles and they just have text or default icon. Tried everything I can think of to fix including some google solutions.
Any ideas?
Have there been any reports of sporadically missing keystrokes under Windows 10? Both the "W" and "3" keys on my mechanical keyboard (which is only about a year old now) keep ignoring keystrokes now and then. Both in desktop and game usage.
Maybe I'll just try rolling back to Windows 7 before RMAing this keyboard.

You could just disable windows update.. Goto the computer management, look under services, find windows update and disable it, reboot and enjoy
That's really not good advice at all, especially with an OS in its early days. The whole point of MS introducing this whole thing was to stop people running insecure machines, which is needed. They've just gone too far over the other end.

I have a MSI GS60 laptop and suddenly after a recent Windows update, it looks like my internal SD card reader is no longer working. I can hear the chime as you plug in a card and remove a card, but nothing shows up. I can't even find the listing in device manager. Any ideas? It used to work right after I upgraded to 10, but it's gone now.
Anyone else can't open the Microsoft Store?
I can see the icon flash in my taskbar, but then there's nothing. Also, some apps (photo, phone, xbox) aren't working. When I try to open one of them I get this:
Problem is, I can't fix it because I can't even open the Windows store!
If you upgrade within the first year your hardware should be forever tied to a valid W10 license, yes. You won't need a key (and it won't work), the activation is automatic.
I noticed a strange issue when playing a video with the movies & tv player.
When a video is full screen and I press the space bar to pause it, pressing space again doesn't resume playback.
Also hitting escape does nothing and the mouse can't be used.
I thought my pc had locked up until I hit the windows key and the start menu popped up.
Ok so there's no way to pin items to the left side of the Start Menu? If I'm reading this right, apparently this feature was on the older builds so why would Microsoft take it out of the final build?!
Current issues are the the Start menu and any Windows store / modern apps become unresponsive after a while. Clocking on the start button does nothing and non of the metro apps I have pinned to the task bar will load.
A restart or two normally fixes it for a time but its super annoying.
Also sometimes sound will just stop working until I reboot.
Yeah... dont install this yet if you have the option. Debating jumping back to W8.
Can anyone recommend a good free video player for windows 10 to just play my MP4 files in full screen?
Win 10 video players work for me except full screen since upgrade from 8.1

is this the right link for VLC?
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
I havent used VLC before so I dont know if thats even the right company!
The point is you can enable it again whenever you want too.. But i can see having updates is much better than having a machine that works.
If i was running windows update i would have no sound(hurray super awesome).
Also if you actually know what you are doing you have nothing to worry about security wise.
Ooh and my insanity extends to the point where i also disabled defender.
I get this error every time I unplug my laptop power cord and it is getting annoying, some neogaffers suggested me to go to CCC>Power Play and turn off "Enable Vari-Brigh", however I clean installed Windows 10 so I couldn't find CCC. So I installed AMD Catalyst Control Center but there is no options "Enable Vari-Brigh".
Do I need to install different driver? I think my computer came with ATI CCC.
You pinned the shortcut, not the program.
Disable 'Adaptive Brightness' in your advanced power options and the error should stop.
Edit: Click the battery in your task bar -> power & sleep settings -> additional power settings -> change plan settings (on whichever power plan you're using) -> change advanced power settings -> scroll down to 'display' and set enable adaptive brightness to off.
Actually pinning the program doesn't work either. If there is a fix for this, let me know.

Yep.
oh nice I really like VLC
Shame on microsoft that I had to use that versus built in 10 player and windows media player to get full screen glitch free
