Kotaku flops hard on Japanese sales comprehension

The game's only distribution channels are Amazon and Nintendo eShop in that region, and from what I'm reading the weekly Top 50 sales chart in the source doesn't track sales from both of those outlets, so...

Not that I expected the game to set the charts on fire, even if it did get a retail release...

Shitaku. There's a reason why I don't visit that site since 2011.

Everything they print is shit. Basically the closest thing to an HTML-based sewer there is.

For what it's worth, Devil's Third is #4 in the Japanese Nintendo Wii U eShop chart at the moment behind Super Mario RPG, Splatoon and Paper Mario

It's not hard to figure it flopped, but citing sales trackers that don't even track the sales of the particular game as your source is pretty dumb

Brian Ashcraft doing his best to ruin Kotaku's already flimsy reputation. Feel sorry for Scoops and the Press Sneak Fuck.

Not that I know any better, but with how much everyone points out errors and bullshit with Kotaku, why are they still allowed as a source of anything outside of April Fool's stories?

I guess their BS is fairly easy to spot like this one here and the more "normal" type of news is tame and somewhat reliable.

That title change...

Kotaku can be okay but between amateur hour shite like this and the fact that it's under the Gawker umbrella, I just can't. That's all. Just can't.

Brian Ashcraft should stick to his blog like stories about how lucky he is to be in Japan and has married a Japanese woman and that his kids are so Japanese that they don't even speak English.
Game Bloggu parody of Ashcraft was on point.

Of all blogs that could have made this mistake, it is actually the Japanese-oriented blog that gets it wrong.

I don't expect much from Kotaku, but at least that they get their Japanese articles right lol

I mean sure Kotaku was totally wrong in regards to their figures but let's be real: It's not like it would rank too highly on the sales charts if it could anyway

Dumb mistake. Saw it when I woke up this morning and we corrected ASAP. Sorry guys.

(And before you keep shitting all over Ashcraft, at least check out one of the other stories he ran this morning, an extensive look at more of Konami's horrible practices based on some good original reporting.)

Legit good time for a thread title change. Though I wonder how much of a hole leaving out amazon.jp is for regular results, I didn't realize it wasn't tracked either. Cultures and all, but I'd wager it's a sizable chunk of US sales these days. Last time I was in a retail store was...to get Gamer's Club Unlocked activated so I could use it online.
