I'm pro-Sanders and anti-Republican but I will say that Trump seems more honest than Hillary. She seems so fake. I can never tell what she thinks, or whether she has any real conviction.

If it really could somehow come down to Trump vs. Sanders. I honestly think Trump would win.

Sanders is too far to the left to make a move for the general election voters.

I think this is why they are actively looking for someone to run now and push instead of Hilary. The email scandal/general unenthusiastic views has them worried.

You do realize who the PM of Canada is right now, don't you?

I think people - of all political stripes, though recently it's been more of a left wing thing - vastly over-estimate the importance of who's in charge vs their actual life. Not that this is even close to be done, but it often happens at elections where people throw their toys out the pram and then a week late go back to their lives, where basically everything is the same. Obviously there are exceptions, but in general I think this is the case.

I know, right? This is something Sanders and Trump share and what gives them a lot of power, even if it's in vastly different form. Honesty and straightforwardness instead of a opputrunist politican that turns with the political wind. The flair of not being able to be corrupted is sweet.

I would say that more people would resent Trump. If it came to these two people would maybr actually look at what Bernie was and is doing.

Tell that to the millions upon millions of americans who now have a legit marriage across all 50 states and all the day-to-day implications that might mean.

Tell that to the millions of sub-30 years of age now-americans who were allowed citizenship through executive order.

A president has immediate impact on peoples' lives.

Daily Reminder:

I just had lunch with a bunch of guys in my unit and a ton of them saw him as a legitimately good canndidate and said they'd vote for him.

You have to say he's smart in that he's somehow convincing the public he'd be a good president.

Idk man

GAF told me none of this matters

"IT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING! HILLARY ALREADY WON!" - The Internet

I expect the eating crow thread when Donald Trump wins the nomination.

#TRUMP2016

Where is the Clinton defense force to tell us about how she is the only realistic candidate?

Lol yup. What's even more funny is that the people saying Trump didn't have a chance ("He won't survive after insulting Latinos", "He won't survive after insulting McCain","He won't survive the first debate" etc...) are the same saying Bernie doesn't stand a chance.

No one hates the clintons more than haitians... They are corrupt as fuck amd they have a heavy hand in the privatization of a lot of haitian institutions and they put supported haitian politicians who put in place policies that significantly increased haitian dependency on US imports and decreased self-sufficiency and domestic productivity, but even i, as a haitian american, know that trump is bad for the entire world.

I am always amused by this view in elections. No one should run their politics based on making other people happy. If Trump happens to be the best option for America then America should vote for him. Not avoid him cause Europe or Asia doesn't like him and thinks it would be a horrible idea...

Yes and no. The president has more power than any person in the country but his power is not absolute and immediate. He still has to have the support of House and Senate. He isn't a dictator that can go fuck all you I'll do what I want. That's why all the checks and balances exist in the US system to begin with.

If it wasn't for the fact that the US electorate has a long track record of electing dangerously disturbed vapid cheerleaders I wouldn't be concerned

Since most debates are completely devoid of content and usually boil down to one liners, constantly trying to create a catchy jingle out of something your opponent said once while on the toilet, and who can showboat the loudest, Hillary is in trouble

What a time to be alive!

Trump now has the recognition, if he gets more serious and a little more moderate, throwing off the nonsense, he could win this with the support of the independent vote.

I'll help you pack. Not because I particularly care to have Trump as president but because I'm sick of hearing this stupid empty promise and would love to see someone actually follow through.

Get real.

Not only that. But with our usual 2 party system. It swings back and forth every 4-16 years. Will they move back in 4 years if he's voted out etc...

Bernie vs Trump debate would be electric. One of those unstoppable train vs unbreakable wall type event.
More like a toy train vs a wall of marshmallows. Two practically unelectable candidates throwing it down. Expect record low voter turnout.

I'm fairly certain if Trump gets elected, he will pay to have his face added to Mt. Rushmore.

The intensity of the struggle between the entities remain the same if you're scaling down in equal ratio :D

Also I disagree completely about the voter turnout. I feel it will be quite the opposite.

I actually would move. My wife and I are discussing applying for a move to a Western European country or maybe Canada. Since Obama took office I've been absolutely disgusted by this country. Not because of his presidency, but because of the racism, hatred, and utter disregard for their fellow Americans that his opponents have shown.

Trump winning would be the deciding factor for us.

Preach. Trump is a known racist and people still like him. Sanders, an avowed socialist, has no chance in the general election.

So people are willing to elect a racist over a socialist?

America in a nutshell.

Two candidates incredibly unpopular with minorities and women who have tons of baggage that makes them the boogieman of the undecided electorate?

Yeah I would expect record lows from that throwdown.

People say that they are moving every election. I remember tons of people claiming that they would move after Bush Jr won the office.

Minorities voting for Hillary does not mean Bernie is "incredibly" unpopular with them.

Most still have no idea who he even is.

Yeah, aren't many BLM-groups very satisfied with how Bernie Sanders handled the incursions? And I think Clintons handling of the BLM group visiting her was blank at best.

To be honest I can't imagine it worse than Hilary winning.

Then you're not trying hard enough.

Honestly, what is with these statements? Just look at the stance of both on the main issues. With Trump it's a little harder because all he does is talk about how he's going to be great without any real plans, but that alone should tell you he's not going to be a good pick.

Here's Trump on two issues:

Trump on immigration: deport all the illegals (because they're rapists and murderers), build a wall (huge waste of money) and make Mexico pay for it (lol)

Literally, if Hillary was to do NOTHING on immigration it'd be a better plan than that.

Trump on foreign policy: Iran deal should have been done in a day, China and Mexico are beating us at everything, I'd make China do whatever we want and bill Mexico for each illegal immigrant, bomb Iraqi oil fields to stop ISIS, then take the oil fields for ourselves so that "we'd have so much money."

AGAIN, if Hillary was to do absolutely fucking nothing, that would be a better strategy and keep America safer.

So, it's ridiculous for anyone to be talking about, "I can't imagine it'd be worse than Hillary." Yes, it'd be worse. Much fucking worse.

Most of the time if a states popular vote is lopsided the electorate will choose that candidate. It's not a completely unfair process.

Well, that confirms it. American politics are a joke.

Question: Why would someone vote for him?

If anyone in this thread is voting for him and would like to give an answer, please, do so.

Please elaborate what parts of Hillary's platform would be terrible.....

My money is on "she's out of touch."

Apparently people are willing to vote for him if their boy Bernie Sanders doesn't get the nomination over Hillary.

Because he "speaks his mind" and is a president "you would want to have a beer with".

That's just plain ignorant. The text books your kids are educated on, who you can marry, job prospects, and so much more can be flipped by the government. There are so many daily examples in the news I'm not sure how you can come to this conclusion.
