CNN poll : Donald Trump now competitive in general election

Even putting aside the reality of the electoral system, these polls are dumb as nobody is even paying attention to the Democrats right now other than bernie fans. It's like asking people about McCain during the height of the Obama-Clinton battle

...then the slow realization dawns that Trump is probably the sanest Republican running

by a country mile

that's a pretty low bar, though

I'd love to see a Sanders/Trump one on one debate.
I expect both to win. I mean, they basically have to. Two underdogs, total opposites winning against the arrogant old elites of their side. No loyality to their faction, only to their believes. The man and the monster defeating gods and changing the country engaging in a final fight. This is too good to not happen.

Seeing his stance on birthright citizenship in recent days, I've realized I've had my fill of him. It was fun while it lasted, but I really can't take any more of him. It's too much. I have faith that enough of the country will have had their fill well before November next year. Not so sure about the Republican primaries though, since the field seems to be so weak on that side.

It ain't happening, but entertainment value aside I'd rather Trump in the general election than pretty much anyone running in the Republican primaries. If conservatives fall for his blunt talk and loser callouts and ignore the fact that he's a moderate on most issues, that's on them.

And GAF keeps doing the good work of giving this great hero the free advertisement that he truly deserves.

Ever think the Simpson's writers are pre cog's? lol

Is anyone else seriously considering moving to Canada if this clown is somehow elected president? He could easily be one of the worst presidents of all time.

He wouldn't be worse than any other Republican president, probably better than most of those running against him.

No one should move to Canada because this guy gets elected. He wouldn't burn the country to the ground.

It depends. If it's a work and then he turns out to be moderate/not an asshole I'm fine with it.

If he's actually a fucking lunatic like he appears to be and starts working towards ammending the 14th or something equally as ridiculous I'm out of here. I like colder climates anyways.

I hope he won't get there in the first place.

Of the repub options, Trump and Kasich are the two least in bed with Koch or corporate elites.

But trump making it past primaries is still very unlikely. Serious GOP voters are spread out amongst Walker, Cruz, Paul and others. As the field narrows they'll all pile into whoever stands against Trump.

It's still really early to make accurate predictions but this just shows he is doing everything right. People are freaking out as if they'd really prefer any of the other Republican/Democrat candidates.

Donald Trump is the president the US deserves especially after how they've treated Obama's and his optimistic, progressive initiatives.

I hope Donald Trump not only gets the GOP nomination but also wins the general election.

My only regret is I can't vote more than once for him.

I think he's the most likely to return republicans back to the Nixon era so maybe it won't be that awful.

That ridiculous wall of his will never be built if you ask me.

Trump is in a good position. If he has a legit shot at the nomination, he'll go for it. If his popularity wanes and he falls behind, he can pull out and say he wasn't serious and just wanted to make a mockery of American politics.

Either way, Trump wins. :p

I've watched most of his speeches and interviews and I don't see any reason to think he would be the worst president of my life to date, let alone all time.

I don't think the damage done by the GWB and Reagan administrations can be overstated

I'm telling you guys. You've elected people like Ronald Reagan and Arnold Scwarzenegger. Donald Trump is kinda like those guys.

If the primaries shake out like that and it's clinton v trump I'll be voting for trump.
No one hates the clintons more than haitians... They are corrupt as fuck amd they have a heavy hand in the privatization of a lot of haitian institutions and they put supported haitian politicians who put in place policies that significantly increased haitian dependency on US imports and decreased self-sufficiency and domestic productivity, but even i, as a haitian american, know that trump is bad for the entire world.

He's making a lot of noise at the moment, but it would be better to wait until the election next year before saying he has a shot a winning. His momentum could very well die down by then, especially since most of his campaign is built on BS without anything backing it up.

It's always hilarious seeing Bernie supporters saying they'll vote Trump if he doesn't get the nomination. Equivalent of taking your ball and going home. I'm sure even Sanders himself will vote for Hillary if it comes down to that.

Trailing Hillary by 6 points is not particularly competitive. Romney came closer to Obama than that and I don't think anyone (besides stupid people) would consider that a close race.

The loser of the nomination will most likely endorse the other (aka Bernie endorsing Hillary), I can't wait to see the response when that happens.

Do people in America know what their president actually does? Because I feel like that's the kind of job you want some kind of qualification for.

The president is little more then a gate keeper, the role is limited. Because of the makeup of the congress and Senate if Hillary or Sanders get in nothing will change , nothing will get done, nothing will get un-done.

If anyone from the GOP wins we will see alot of changes taking place.

As I pointed out on the first page, Herman Cain was actually beating Obama at one point. Ron Paul polled behind 2 points against Obama. 6 points at this point is a vast chasm, a landslide victory.

I'm not a Bernie supporter.
