In one part of the game we see some guy who kinda looks like a really young snake kill some couple and kidnap the baby, yes Big Boss was there when Solidus took Raiden.

It's like poetry, like they rhyme

Joy division scrnario is totally going to happen.

Regarding that char creation... you will play as him in the game last act, a sneaking mission in your own base, destroying diamond dogs base the mission end with himstealing metal gear. Then you switch back to bb to finally kill him. END.

Yeah, like that will happen...

Small confirmed details:

  • You play as Big Boss ONLY. Char Creation was for online
  • DD's location in Africa is completely randomized. It's somewhat of a task to find him and the dead wolf.
  • Quiet is introduced via a side op and you have to tranq & fulton her if you want her help
  • Quiet has a torture sequence and you get to control how much pain she endures. Too much pain and she can die
  • D Horse Available from the start. D Walker has to be developed by collecting parts
  • Super Spoiler.
METAL GEAR ST 84 can become a usable vehicle in the field except that all enemies are full alert always

are these confirmed true? or are these also 4chan fanfics?

Joy Division... Isolation...

:3 Kojima, my heart

Baby, I'm your man.

Lol someone on MGSForums is speculating (they're not at any event) that Quiet = Chico but he looks like that because he was badly wounded by the chopper crash and they used body parts of Paz to repair his body.

This fucking fanbase :P

Wait..... So PO is super canon now?

Or was that post with a bunch of portable ops call backs just more fake spoilers.

Given the PO callbacks and the fact PO wasn't featured on the other day's Konami Metal Gear timeline....it's most likely a load of bullshit. However certain aspects make metal gear sense like there being a cloning project of The Boss (it's actually semi surprising there wasn't mention already in a way) and that if there was, its name would be Joy Division (which would be so Kojima but in a way that any fan could guess).

So...we wait and see, but with a dose of skepticism.

Wait..... So PO is super canon now?

Rumours/leaks/whatever aside, PO is canon as much as the details don't conflict with whatever Kojima cooks up in his main series.

This is the first time that I have visited a spoiler thread.. and left without being spoiled even the slightest.. lol..

what a let down of a thread..

It's been bugging me since I watched the ending, but whatever happened to the scene from the GDC trailer where Big Boss has blood all over his face in the chopper and he's looking out at something?

MGS-Ground-Zeroes-Title-Screen-Wounded-Big-Boss.jpg

I always thought the blood was maybe from the soldier who got shot next to him as they were escaping Mother Base, but it's not. Big Boss is still blood-free until Paz explodes, and when you return to the main title screen it's the same blood on the right side of his face as the scene in the pic above. Which implies it's the explosion from Paz that causes the wounds and blood on his face.

BUT it's a pretty evident implication that after the explosion, another helicopter collides with theirs...

If that's a real scene (and not edited out or changed), then that means that they don't collide with that chopper (or at least survive it for a while) and they either remain flying in the same chopper or they are in a different one?

I am leaning towards it was just edited out, but I can't rule out the possibility that there might be more ending to the ending than we've seen, and may be shown either directly as the TPP starts up or in flashbacks.

Does this make sense? What do you guys think?

To the guy above.

That was in Ground Zeroes. The footage appeared in the TPP trailer before they decided to release GZ separately.

I refuse to read any of this until you untag your spoilers since this is a spoiler thread.

I read it anyway and I think it's just a minor change and not anything crazy.

The reveal GDC trailer? I didn't spot that shot...and also the only theory I've seen about there being more to the GZ ending is that they avoid the other chopper, land on a nearby island and SkullFace slits Chico's throat in front of Big Boss for reasons then he magically ends up in a coma. To be honest it's either going to be a scene we haven't seen yet (and not necessarily GZ related) or just something that was cut, which always happens for a million different reasons.

Got rid of those stupid tags for you.

Well here's a question,
Why were they capturing this 3 months after Ground Zeroes came out?
http://www.metalgearinformer.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/MGSV-Motion-Capture-July-4th-3.jpg

And why is there an old-ish guy in Chico's place? It looks like a recreation of the end of Huey's call. There's a woman lying down but you can only see her knee really.

Can a mod lock this thread? It's ridiculous.

It's probably worth keeping as, come Sunday, journos will be discussing/reviewing the game. I'm sure they're under some strict embargos. We've got a preview going up from the perspective of someone who hasn't played the series at the same time as everyone else. But yeah, things will start dropping I'm sure, one way or another, and in a narrative heavy game like this it pays to have a thread dedicated to discussing more sensitive details for those who don't give a fuck.

That being said, I think anybody treating this thread as anything other than what it is, and not wanting to be spoiled, despite no real verified spoilers floating around, is a fucking nutcase. Soon one of ya'll is going to click in this thread for the lols and because your curiosity got the better of you, and right there will be a post with legit, verified, major plot spoilers and you'll be pissy ruined shit for yourself.

I'll be backing out shortly for this reason.

So you'll be going Chico, huh?

Chico is Quiet

The only spoilers I really want to know are..

How many large open hubs are there in the vain of Afghanistan and Africa.
I expect a few smaller levels and facilities for one off missions but I wonder if there are more big open areas.

&

Are there any major time jumps at all or does the entire game set in 1984.
I am not expecting this game to be the complete missing link that ends where MG1 begins... but how close will it get? Is it just going to be like Portable Ops and Peace Walker where Big Boss beats some random bad guy who has nothing to do with the rest of the series and then in the post credits we get some window dressing for the greater story?

Also WTF is up with the bosses. Any details there would be welcome because I got no clue.

1. We don't know for sure. Somebody got to what they thought was end of Africa and told halfway through main story missions.
2. There are one offs and smaller facilities
3. We don't know the time span
4. Kojima says full circle. Make of that what you will.
5. We know Quiet is a boss and a fight against Eli in Metal Gear ST84

I think it's worth mentioning that when he was first asked whether it would come full circle Kojima's response was "Not exactly. It's another adventure for Big Boss." Whether this wasn't the case at the time or he was just being evasive I can't say, but in the following year he changed his answer when journalists kept asking him this question emphasizing that it will "but in a specific way."

In his interview on twitch last year, he said "with the Phantom Pain we are trying to complete this cycle, but we've had to force the story a little bit to do this so several discrepencies have popped up, so ideally i'd like to remake MG1 and MG2 so they have all the proper connections but right now we don't have the resources for that and those games are not in the plans."

So who really knows, "a specific way" could end up being anything really. It could be more "window dressing" as funkystudent put it or a whole "Shadow Moses in MGS4" out of nowhere kind of surprise. But I think it's important to adjust expectations, the one vibe I definitely have always gotten is that for Kojima it's more of a priority for him to tell a story about "revenge" and Big Boss's downfall in the 1980s, whereas doing something like a flashforward into the MG1 90s setting to bring things "full circle" has always been more of a fan demand that has been brought up throughout development and that the fanbase are hoping is part of Kojima's secret plan.

It would be a crying shame if he didn't include something big in the end there, seeing as now that he's leaving there will never be another opportunity for that again. Something as limited as just hearing Kiefer's voiceover at the end of the credits saying "Infiltrate the enemy fortress, Outer Heaven. Destroy the final weapon: Metal Gear" would be fitting, but mainly just stir fan's imaginations at "what could have been" which would actually be depressing.

Yeah...as long as it doesn't feel like we're missing a chapter I think I'll be ok with it.

I just wonder what the forcing the story bit will be. I could imagine a time skip ending but I suppose the balancing act would be difficult and probably not worth the risk of screwing it up. If it's a case of Kojima saying in an ideal world he'd be able to remake MG1 and 2 to make them link up I suspect the ending may be those games in micro form from BBs POV and it doesn't wholly line up with what we know. I can't say I'd be that bothered but rather than re contextualising elements in unexpected ways I'd be more annoyed at fundamental changes.

I'm sure I'll have a blast with TPP regardless though.

First french review from Jeuxvideo Magazine.
They gave it a
17/20
. Althought they said about the plot...
They actually complain about the plot light :/

At this stage I wouldn't trust any supposed spoilers.

We haven't even seen undeniable proof of leaked copies in the wild yet. Yet alone new footage of the game running in someones house.

Until that moment I would say everything is just people bullshitting.

The Joy / Joy Division is a really cool play on words though.

i think when kojima says full circle it'll only be in regards to big boss becoming the enemy we know him to be. i don't for a second think it's going to butt up against the first metal gear game. i think ultimately it'll end up feeling like there could have been another game between the two, but who would want to play as big boss as a full blown bad guy to fill in that gap?? i don't even think we're going to witness anything close to that in phantom pain...we might see the downfall, the downward spiral...but think it'll keep you feeling sympathetic towards the character.

end of the day no-one wants to play as a douche. and by the point big boss became a douche we was playing as solid snake anyway.
