Interesting. At 1:45, the guide shows a pair of pictures, with the first showing one of the soldiers who escapes during GZ with Snake (with his head circled), and the second apparently showing the same soldier held hostage and in need of rescue. Sounds like that will be a neat mission.

It also looks like you get photos to put up in the Aerial Command Center based on certain feats (staff size, for one).

The timeline also explicitly states "Big Boss (Venom Snake)".

One thing I love about Eli piloting a metal gear against Snake in this is that it retroactively paints Solid's confrontation with him in MGS1 in a different light (especially The Twin Snakes version).

It could be argued that Liquid is experiencing a very real sense of deja vu and feeling his childish excitement once again, which explains Cam Clarke hamming it up and chewing the hell out of the scenery.

Well one or two bootcampers said the first miossion (hospital?) takes anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on whether you stick around, die etc. Pretty lengthy missions.l I think YongYea said out of what he played his longest single mission took him about 90 minutes, but obvs he died a bit etc.

I can't speak Italian, but Mantis and Skull Face's profiles reference each other for some reason. I also see Solid Snake coming up in a few places like Code Talker's profile which is odd.

Another thing, I'm confused with Venom Snake, who is Venom Snake? Is venom snake big boss? or venom snake is a clone of big boss?
 
Random stuff from the guide:

Zero was infected by Skull Face with a parasite which causes the irreversible decline of cognitive functions. Before he becomes a vegetable (as seen in MGS4) he teams up with DARPA's Dr Strangelove to create an evolved AI, which will evolve in the Patriots.

His last documented actions are from 1977, when he asks Ocelot to care for his friend in a coma and says to Miller to prepare for his return. Zero even visits Big Boss in the hospital to say his goodbyes, "an event linked to one of the greatest mysteries of The Phantom Pain, and in particular to the identity of an enigmatic man".
 
Looks like Konami forbid them from revealing the conditions to unlock the secret final mission to get players to colaborate. I hope it's not too much of a drag.
 
As someone pointed out last page...why would an official guide for a game spoil major plot points in the actual book itself? Seems stupid if you ask me. I'm not even sure if the supposed spoilers even came from the guide anymore...

What if this is the virus on Mother Base and once Skull Face has been killed off (supposedly) his final act of REVENGE (i'm being obnoxious on purpose, i swear :P) is to unleash the virus on Mother Base...

Edit: Jesus, if Skull Face really did that to Zero...I mean Zero became a monster but that's still....awful...

Piggyback's MGS guides always have plot summaries, timelines and other such details, though they're separate from the actual walkthrough itself.

If it is...and if any of this is true...then I'd wager the final act of revenge by Skull Face, when he realizes BB has been manipulating him as much as anything else, is to unleash the virus on Mother Base (considering Quiet leaves Mother Base around mission 42 or 43 and can only be got back in a post game what if SHE unleashes it...i have no idea why but y'know) and it goes after cognitive functions and renders them...like a vegetable. It's/...one of the worst fates imaginable, especially with Skull Face doing it out of spite.

Even if it renders them unable to speak and makes them zombified first, I could go for that angle rather than just the vocal chord thing...which could probably happen but just seems ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
