That's just some badge with Big Boss, not exactly a huge spoiler. "The Man Who Sold the World" is a song that has been featured through the game. Plus he didn't have a horn in Ground Zeroes. Seriously we have no idea what that picture even refers to or what it's from in context of the game.

Also the language trailer really hints heavily at Skullface's parasite plan. "Sans lingua franca, the world will be torn asunder." That's literally his whole plan right there.

I think they mean sold as in fooled.

The man who fooled the world.

The achievement is called "Truth"

Zero turns into a vegetable
Miller gets killed in the middle of nowhere by Liquid
EVA worked herself into a shoot over Solidus and killed herself
SIGINT gets tortured to death
Paramedic gets killed in some lab by Gray Fox
Big Boss dies in a graveyard
Ocelot fist fights Solid Snake on top of Haven

Ocelot won in the end I say.

Ocelot is partially the true hero of Metal Gear imo.

Well...yeah, it is a spoiler, but apart from the fact he probably had a senior moment (unless that means something else) we saw that BB in the trailers so...ehhhhhhhh.....what is the pic from anyway? I mean I recognize the BB but...

The big thing is there is no horn on this BB. Many people believe this is an achievement icon

Not sure if this has already been posted as I'm on mobile and skipping through the last ten pages or so, may have missed it, but...

The scene that starts roughly at 46 seconds, shows as cassette tape marked with the number 46, labelled 'The Man Who Sold The World', with dialogue talking about changes in identity.

I'm gonna wager this is part of a cutscene to do with mission 46 which shows V's true identity.

It's possible that that trailer showed us the basics of the ending of the game before we even knew it. That's classic Kojima, right there...

Solidus and Liquid fail to live up to the title of Big Boss and Solid Snake ultimately wants nothing to do with it and moves on.

The dream is dead.

I wonder if even the Patriot A.I knew/know about the Venom ruse, Venom might be the best kept secret in the series. Sold the world indeed.

The patriot AI is still most likely in its infancy stages, with Venom, Skullface, and Cipher being the main threats all The focus is on those 3.

Leaving BB to operate in silent. With the help of Ocelot of course

Wonder why they're locking boss battles to Extreme mode only? Seems weird. And no Skull Face boss battle? That's certainly disappointing.
I think those "Extreme" missions are MGSV's version of the skulls that denote the difficulty of the missions in Peace Walker -- not a game-wide difficulty setting that makes new missions appear when selected.

Maybe like:

V Normal = 3 PW skulls.
V Hard = 5 PW skulls.
V Extreme = 5 red PW skulls.

There should be a game-wide Hard difficulty, as well.

I still wonder if this guy is actually legit:
https://www.reddit.com/user/BigMGSfan

It would at least explain the medic as he would actually be irrelevant since its all false memory of Venom who is just a clone. I really don't buy the Gray Fox theory either.

Any thoughts?
hes wrong about the reason venom goes ape shit in mother base and he says the nurse is set on fire during the hospital scene, but it's not. It's a female soldier dressed in black,

And, it says 'From The Man Who Sold The World', which leads me to believe it's a tape from BB explaining the truth. A tape being something analogue which is obviously not digital, and therefore easier to hide from something which stores/controls digital information, like a massive set of AIs/proxies which seek to control the digital world.

In GZ, almost all of the back story and good chunks of how you find out about Paz and Chico is through tapes. So, if we're actually playing as some kind of clone, a great way to feed that clone a false history is by distributing tapes for him to find.

Obviously that's really far fetched and ridiculous, and half of the stuff I'm mentioning here could have been debunked in the last 10 pages and I've missed it, but it's food for thought maybe?

The Medic ain't Para-Medic. Medic was a guy who was obscured by BB in some cutscenes in Ground Zeroes. People have had some theories about why he was purposefully obscured and why he sounded a bit like Kiefer since the game came out.

Thanks.

Honestly, you've now convinced me to play Ground Zeroes (which I never did) & replay both MGS 2 & 3 (I have the HD collection on the ps3, which I never completed, even though I already have the original ps2 versions, include the steelbook MGS 3).

I don't particularly mind a convoluted story, but I reiterate my point: it's impossible for MGS 5 to be 'spoiled' for me personally when it's such a massively convoluted storyline.

Someone could post who Ishmael is right now & I'd be like "oh right... who?". I lost track of the overall MGS story arc somewhere in Sons of Liberty when a 20 minute cut-scene was explaining who the Patriots are... hint: I didn't care lol.

My main issue with "the medic is Venom Snake" (alleged) twist is that by sheer chance, the bloke next to them in the chopper when it went down just happened to be a legendary soldier who can do all the sneaking stuff Big Boss would need to do.

No, you sound pretty much on the money to me. Goddamn, if this all pans out, Big Boss is one cruel bastard.

Hypnotherapy perhaps they have to make him big boss. Like they tried to do in mgs2 they tried to make a new solid snake.

Well, Solidus Snake was a CIA medic in the 80s as a teenager. Medic very clearly looks like a young Big Boss.

That would explain his ability, and the fact that - lets say Solidus is 18 - he'd be 43 yet look old as hell in 2009 when MGS2 takes place makes sense thanks to the accelerated aging process.

Only glaring issue is that he's supposed to be 12 in 1984, but they could always retcon that just like many things.

That....would be hilarious.

Though a CIA paramilitary dude wouldn't necessarily be Big Boss' most loyal man (son).

It would also lend credence to why he knows so much about everything involving Big Boss, the Patriots, etc in MGS2 and why he knows exactly what he needs to do

The S3 plan has to come from somewhere, and it could be based on what they tried in TPP. If this theory turns out to be true, ofcourse.

I feel like it can never live up to our fanfic but if there was one series and director that could....playing as Solidus would be insaaaaaaane. He's my favourite character in the series to date....this game seems to have parallels to events from almost every game in the series...

I feel like I'm going a step too far but what if Kojima proto-retcons Solidus and have him be Big Boss' final gambit against the Patriots, playing the ultimate long game...

Mirror punching = Venom/Ahab/The Medic's reaction after realising the truth?

His horn is also ridiculously long in that scene, so could this suggest it's near the end of the game? ;-)

Gene manipulation is nothing new in the series.

in a way it's a precursor to what happens later with the AI attempts to create the perfect soldier.

They tried direct clones of BB and they injected his DNA into soldiers to prove genes can make a soldier.

they used memes to prove they could take anyone(Raiden in this case) and turn them into a BB level soldier given the right environment.

Then they went full direct control with SOP

Venom has his body/face transformed and his memories/experience manipulated into believing he's the real Big Boss.

The Solidus timeline lines up pretty well, but why would the DNA test with Eli be negative if he's the perfect clone of Big Boss?

Because he was the only perfect clone. They could say while Liquid and Solid inherited some traits etc the only person who was a near 1:1 match was Solidus.

What part of nanomachines don't you understand?

Also. In MGS4, Solidus has his skin transplanted onto Big Boss's body, along eith Liquid - right?

This would be coming full circle. Solidus became Big Boss... Big Boss became Solidus.

And he would be a 100% perfect transplant match because he was fixed up along with Ishmael.

I have to say, I'm loving this rush of speculation in the days leading up to release. It's my first time being on GAF as a Metal Gear game is about to be released, so I haven't experienced this before.

Was it this crazy and exciting for the other releases?

I was just revisiting the mgs4 threads... So I'm going to say "yep"

4 was completely leaked because of the guide. Zero appearing, the original MGS3 cast being the Patriots etc. I think it was met with disappointment.

Yes.

MGS4 = Gaseous Snake
MGRising = "it's Sunny"
MGSeries = "It's Gray Fox!"

I remember people thinking GTA motorcycle guy in MGS3's trailer was Gray Fox...

The problem is that he never mentions the Medic, who is a suspicious character and who clearly jumps in front of Big Boss during the explosion. There's also a lot of "such and such never happened" which is a bit too ridiculous even for an MGS game. He does mention that Quiet is at the hospital at the beginning, is that something that has been known a long time?

He also called the character customization thing at the beginning before the boot campers revealed it 3 days ago.

And the Paz sequence where Venom sees her at MB and has the flashback of the chopper scene, where there is clearly 2 versions of Big Boss. This is revealed to be true in the guide.

I think he indeed saw a lot of the footage and made shit up like Venom being an entirely new clone that is 9 years old. Venom's definitely the Medic, unless Kojima triple rused us.

Man, when Kotaku casually blew the MGS4 Big Boss appearance in a headline. That was something else.

The first of September will solve the biggest ruse Kojima ever created. Everything was fake, everything. The trailers edited with wrong characters, lines and events. Fake guides leaked by Kojima himself. Hayter - still in the game. Konami - bought by Kojima in secret. Greek Crisis - fake. Michael Jackson - still alive. Donald Trump - actually a lizard man.
