Ive gone completely dark in this game since last year, only thing i want to know is if the mission structure is similar to GZ and PW (segmented missions) or of its more open ended secondary objectives like 3

Hybrid mix?

I mean you can go back to Mother Base, screw around, build stuff etc and then pick a mission location and go out but very few missions take you out of the playgrounds of Afghanistan or Africa so you cna do a mission then do whatever takes your fancy.

A little of both.

There's segmented missions which you can choose from the menu, or head to one of the mission start points while free-roaming the map.

While on a mission you'll be confined to a certain area, like in GZ.

I'm taking the parasite to not actually be a "parasite" per se, probably the first incarnation of the dreaded nanomachines.
That's probably true, the guide has already been shown to use different terminology for some words.

Not that we have much of a clue how this parasite is supposed to work. That part about english language seems more of a conjecture of yours. The Guide is stated to be less descriptive about the story events anyway.

Like what do they do with the AI Pod? Why do they torture Huey, and how does he cope with that? Seriously we aren't simply missing flavor text here, huge chunks of explanations aren't covered with the guide. You guys are still trying to analyze shit that has too little details to make sense of it. ALSO no one has yet to come out who has actually played the game and explain what happens. You guys here can't give me much of an explanation here can you now?
It was confirmed by one of the owners to be part of the guide. There's an entire page on skullface's backstory and actions in the plot.

Well if this is true

then together with this scene:

it might be another indicator that we are indeed not playing as the real Big Boss,

Don't forget that in kojima's last trailer, there's a shot of someone looking at kaz, snake, and ocelot. Someone with one eye.
Edit: 2:18 seconds into the elegia trailer

I'm confused. One person said Paz was alive and never died, while others are saying she was a ghost, and a person named Holly. Which is the truth?

This theory could explain all the small differences between big boss and whoever you are playing now.

Just as an example, in the E3 demo Kaz mentions that they would need a translator for Snake as he didn't understand the language, which was Russian.

However Big Boss does know Russian and speaks it rather fluently: As Sokolov compliments in MGS 3 "Your Russian is superb..."

It was a detail that caught my eye as rather odd, but hearing all this talk about imposters, such a small change in detail starts to make more sense.

Ghost.

@Carroway

But brain damage from coma wouldn't be en explanation? I mean either make sense but from the analysis of various trailers and parallels and all that shiz it's pretty obvious there's been SO MANY clues that only upon playing the game will we go "Aha" like Partridge.

Kojima's supposedly explained this as the shrapnel 'damaging' the part of Big Boss's brain that knew Russian, but people have been skeptical.

I'm not seeing how Snake being the POV of Quiet's jump out of the helicopter means anything.

Unless people assume that between that moment and when Snake shows up to stop Miller from shooting her, that the helicopter couldn't have landed and Snake got out.

But I can buy a shrapnel that large, that far into his brain, fucking up so much of his personality, memory, etc. The fact that it's on the right side of the brain, which can lead to who knows what kind of hallucinations, especially when that side controls the left side of the body (and his left eye being the only eye he has). Honestly, a shrapnel piece that big would have just made brain soup.

Hopefully it will! Nothing will make sense until we play the game, hell even with all the things that got leaked for 4, it still made no proper sense until we go to play it.

The language thing was a mere observation that struck me as strange rather than the smoking gun proving one thing over another.

Venom Snake is watching.

Kaz goes apeshit on BB almost dying and then rather casually asks about the other guy (who must've the shrapnel). He obviously cares more about BB.

Chrome
yes he is

You should probably play Peace Walker sometime, yes Cipher is Zero, the war of Big Boss and Zero has kind of been the plot of MGS since the end of 4.

Even if he never plays it, the after credits voiceover in GZ would give him the answer.

Interesting fact: the intro of Garbage trailer shows BB going into a coma. Right after that, Kaz says "What about him?". The whole sequence is in first person, since someone is clearly looking at Kaz and BB (you can see he checks the monitors, doctors and Kaz & BB). The end of the trailer shows this person awakening: I think this is not a coincidence, since this sequence is in first person too.
So, who was Kaz talking about? "Him", that was referring to BB or is there another person in the room, the "watcher" you can see through the eyes the entire sequence?

I'm telling this from E3 2015 trailer, I'm sure Venom is not Big Boss, but a doppelganger. I doubt he is the medic, even if voice acting match, I thik it's just because both B and the medic had just a few lines so probably, due to budget, they have been voiced by Sutherland. Also if really Venom will reveal the medic, why the medic was so similar to BB in first place? Is it possible no one from Mother Base noticed that? Like "Ehi, there's someone that looks exactly like a younger version of our Boss around".

It makes no sense. My theory is Venom is just a clone, he is not Solidus but not even the medic.

What I really mean is, anyway, if you look to released trailer with the idea there's a clone/impostor around, there are evidences in some sequences to "see" the game through the eyes of another person. This, the "Big Boss is watching you", the fact the whole Ground Zeroes (dunno about TPP) is directed by using a unique plan of sight...those are interesting things. Even those "flashes" you see in and there during cutscenes,,,maybe they are an imprinting memory device or whatever, a marker to imprint new memories into another body. And, if you read this, give this a try:

http://a.pomf.cat/ocxdmy.mp4

"Memories, I want give them to you".

Supposedly the "what about him" scene appears late game as a flashback.

Wait a second.

Solidus Snake worked as a CIA paramilitary in the 80s, right?

So he'd be a medic.

...hmm.

But he was born in 72 just after the LES i believe. And from what i remember Ground Zeroes thing happened in 75. He would be three by that time. He has accelerated aging but still... I was hoping that Venom Snake is either him or Gray Fox but, both seems unlikely now. (I mean if Venom Snake is medic, then he can't be Solidus right?). Story seems really interesting but introducing a new character in the role of Big Boss don' t sound too good for me. I don't care if they have to retcon, i just wish its Gray Fox or Solidus. At least that would make it more emotional imo.

Well, age wise Solidus cannot be Medic. But Medic clearly has the features of a Snake. I guess they're going to retcon some stuff or he's a nobody.

..wait Is Kaz blind after his kidnap? The scenes in MB where he walks with the can, everytimr they show a close up of his eyes theyre murky grey, as if he was blind.
