I'd still vote for him over Scott Walker the sleazeball. That shouldn't be saying much, but Walker is one of the establishment favorites.

Oh wow. Those colors say exactly that.Thank You, Jesus, for Lord President Trump?
I want trump to run third party and start a new party altogether. "The Donalds." Could you even imagine?
He said something interesting and potentially destructive to his campaign in Alabama. I didn't think he was just kidding either. He was talking about rethinking his stance on accepting large donations from lobbyists. That he'd prefer to take their money and donate it to charity and just say "no" when they call for a favor later.
Maybe he was just being cute, but I got the impression that after so much temptation, he really can't refuse a buck. That if he gets far enough, he's not going to be willing to pay for it all out of his own pocket. Some might consider that relatively minor since every other candidate has huge special interest backing, but to me he's toying with killing one of his most unique & appealing selling points.

He cares too much about being rich to cut his net worth down like that. That money is never coming back, not like an investment.
When you said he mentioned something that could hurt his campaign in Alabama, I thought you were going to mention his nuanced view of planned parenthood. I was genuinely surprised that some, not many, people cheered when he didn't come out swinging at women's health like Jeb Bush did.

I think if he gets the Republican nomination, he'll absolutely change his stance (if not sooner). I don't think the businessman in him will allow such a money loss when he can minimize financial risk. And it will be a mistake because I don't see how Trump can just Trump his way out of that one.
You know how Trump's favorite book is "the Bible" (*wink*). That's how he is now with "women's health issues" (*wink*). He was first talking about how he'd shut down the government over Planned Parenthood but like a shark smells blood, he caught Jeb in a stupid comment. Now he's always describing how he's going to be great at "women's health issues" (wink). He's going to continue to recite the hell out of that phrase. I can almost picture his fingers air-quoting it as he says it. I guess he's beginning to realize why politicians have to be politicians to get elected.
Off the issue, he had a pretty good Trumpism today: "How is Bernie Sanders going to defend our country if he can't even defend his own microphone? Very sad!"
One of the top facebook replies is just as good: "How are you going to take care of our country when you can't even take care of your hair?"
Trump attracts people who don't follow politics and then say catchphrases like "Trump speaks the truth!"" "Trump is not part of the Establishment!" "Trump cannot be bought!!"
match that with populism, and there you have it. the polls behind Trump.
For me, Trump's job is to torpedo the GOP and to block John Ellis Bush. That is what Trump's job should be. Then have a Democrat candidate win the Presidency
I laugh at Trump, I cheer for Trump to beat John Ellis Bush. But I do not support him and do not want him as President.
I don't know. If he really thinks he can win, I can see him start spending.
I mean really . . . What's the difference between 200 million, 400 million, 1 billion, 5 billion, etc.? Your filthy rich no matter what and you can't take it with you.
And at that age, those guys think about their legacy not more money. And spending a few hundred million to end up in the history books is a pretty good investment if that is your goal.
Of course this isn't always true. There are people that also just want more & more money right up until the day they die. That's something I can't understand.
Jesus fucking Christ, America. Get your shit together. There's no way the average American is this fucking stupid...
Yeah, about that. It's kind of crazy how almost every "populist" fantasy policy he puts out, there's a clear and easy answer that shows just how detached from reality it is.

Walker is really struggling right now, but I still think he has more of a chance at the nomination than Jeb. It's hard to say with Trump though. I think he's about reached his potential. It's sad to say. And even if he does continue to grow, I imagine that the establishment republicans really will do all they can to throw him off. Jeb's main advantage is his funding; he doesn't even need to run a decent campaign. He's an awkward guy that fumbles a lot, but he can outlast his competition.
I hope he wins the nomination, I don't want to hear about the slime ball Cruz or another friggin Bush
It's so fascinating how differently Trump is perceived being extremely rich than Mitt Romney was. Trump just oddly connects because he lives large in the crass way that your average rural American redneck would if they won $500 million in
He said he doesn't actually believe that, and was apparently just being Trump (hyperbolic as hell). Though he does view global warming as a non-issue.
I'm just waiting on Trump to say one wrong thing and send his campaign to a screeching halt. Like how the 47% thing killed Romney's campaign.
Jesus fucking Christ, America. Get your shit together. There's no way the average American is this fucking stupid...
To be fair, how much of that figure on the right is taken up by billion dollar planes that can't fly and $5,000 pencils?

from my experience average Americans are much more stupid than citizens of other countries
again, from my experience some of the poorest people in the world on other parts of the planet (east africa and south america) seem to know more about politics than the average american
The average American is stupid and will latch onto anything. All hail Trump.
Before you go off on this "Americans are stupid" stuff, you need to realize that Trump has only captured 25% of the people in a party that makes up 32% of the country. So though he is the front-runner in the GOP primary, he only really has a pretty small slice of the country behind him.
Isn't Europe full of populist parties that run on anti-immigration xenophobia? I swear every parliament has one small but significant party that's like that.

In the command centers of Republican presidential campaigns, aides have drawn comfort from the belief that Donald J. Trump’s dominance in the polls is a political summer fling, like Herman Cain in 2011 — an unsustainable boomlet dependent on megawatt celebrity, narrow appeal and unreliable surveys of Americans with a spotty record of actually voting in primaries.
A growing body of evidence suggests that may be wishful thinking.
A review of public polling, extensive interviews with a host of his supporters in two states and a new private survey that tracks voting records all point to the conclusion that Mr. Trump has built a broad, demographically and ideologically diverse coalition, constructed around personality, not substance, that bridges demographic and political divides. In doing so, he has effectively insulated himself from the consequences of startling statements that might instantly doom rival candidates.
In poll after poll of Republicans, Mr. Trump leads among women, despite having used terms like “fat pigs” and “disgusting animals” to denigrate some of them. He leads among evangelical Christians, despite saying he had never had a reason to ask God for forgiveness. He leads among moderates and college-educated voters, despite a populist and anti-immigrant message thought to resonate most with conservatives and less-affluent voters. He leads among the most frequent, likely voters, even though his appeal is greatest among those with little history of voting.

Or how useless any of that is in combating guerilla warfare, as we've seen with the endless expense and pulling out of close to every conflict it's been involved in since WW2.And that doesn't even factor in the relatively massive technological advantage we already have.

Hilary can beat the crazies. She has the minority vote, Trump will NOT. Bernie is too big of a risk if the alternative is Trump. Sorry guys, until Bernie beats Hildog in New Hampshire Polls regularly I won't put my vote on the table for anyone but Clinton. I will take another 8 years of establishment democrat administration over ANY right wing nut job any day. Plus if the dems get both the first black and female presidents back to back, the right will spend generations trying to repair their image with minorities and women.
