here is a video of said photo mode with the "fun" (i'm sarcastic) audio it had https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G0BvOk2x_U cant forget peace walker also had underwear paz , its kind of a norm at this point, plus underwear meryl, naked raiden in 2, 3 subsistance with eva(i think she had a bra and panties on during a special cutscene? i dont remember much of 3) This game series has always had dumb fan service at one point. God i cant wait for ff15 to release so we have all this stuff go into cindy/cidney. Also i wont say it doesnt excuse the fan service, but you should not expect no fan service in a series where this stuff has been rampant since Solid (since MG/MG2 didnt really have fan service iirc)

It was grosser. 4 was probably actually where Kojima crossed the line from writing decent female characters with the occasional childish fanservice bit to being just kind of disgusting.

Someone post an audio clip of Hayter in MGSV or something. Quiet's outfit complaining and the MGS4 bosses aren't spoilers.

Yeah the Beauty and the Beast unit was ridiculous. They were supposed to be tormented and battle hardened individuals but outside of their suits they looked like perfectly shaped young women with hourglass figures. All of a sudden they would pose. The battles themselves weren't fun to fight either.

Its a far cry from Sniper Wolf, who was just as sexy, but had a good battle and convincing back story. She came off as a strong willed woman behind her looks.

You're on a spoilers thread for a video game series where a character shitting himself is the pinnacle of comedy, but somehow "gross" is your breaking point for childishness? OK.
 
Out of interest...the favourite boss fights for people in the series seem to come from MGS1-3 which I think seems pretty fair because each one has at least one or more fantastic boss fights and generally a good range etc.

With the expanded toolset of GZ and TPP how would people like or imagine those fights if they were made now? I don't mean this as a knock against TPP and it's not a comparison but just...how would people imagine fighting say Psycho Mantis or Vulcan Raven in the Tank, or Solidus in the Harrier or The End etc...

Or heck, even imagine vs The Boss.

I wonder if as the series has given the player more choice if creating those experiences becomes infinitely harder without severely limiting the toolset.

Yeah but Raiden was also a character. Quiet doesn't speak and wears clothing unsuited for combat situations because of a reason Kojima made up to put a scantily clad woman in his game. She's just a sidekick you bring along on missions. She's equivalent to a dog and a mech in this game. I don't think she can be compared to Raiden T B Q H.

Not a fan of her design either, however her clotjing is suited for combat even without the reason. She is a sniper, she shouldn't be in need of armor and rather have mote mobility to change locations. She doesn't need camo either since she has natural one. For what reason would she need clothes other than decency? Maybe temperature, I don't know if there's a menton about that.

It was called the "Beauty and the Beast" unit. What exactly were you expecting? They were armored monsters on the inside, beautiful women on the inside. Being tormented and battle-hardened means you can't be attractive? Beyond that, they were fully-clothed and had tragic backstories.

The hell did I just read?
 
I really don't like the fact that we've been spoiled about All the buddies available ingame by the team. Where are the surprises gonna lie now?

All? We get the horse from the start and D-Walker along the way and we know about Quiet and DD. Reviews indicated that there are more and I didn'y hear anything about how many and who is missing.

Interesting point, because that's what it looks like, but that's not what it is.

So is that really considered "skimpy"? Even if it has the appearance of lingerie, that's a full bodysuit.

Anyways, ho-hum, I want more juicy spoilers. Real ones.
 
I remember reading somewhere that the B&B's where originally meant to be naked, and that the skinsuits were a compromise.

During development of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Hideo Kojima wanted the Beauty and the Beast Unit to be naked during cutscenes, though this would have severely affected the game's censorship rating. Yoji Shinkawa stated that the motion capture actors were asked to do the motion capture nude, though this could also not be used in the game.[4] Instead of being naked, the BB members wear form-fitting catsuits, which shows off their figure.

I don't see how. I've never really gotten into the goofy way MGS and it's quirky and questionable relationship with sexual themes and fanservice (male and female both) interact, so I'm not going to die on this hill, but it's a military body suit that covers her completely, just with a design/coloring that evokes lingerie, which was (likely) intentional.

That doesn't actually make it lingerie though.

Not only this, but Raiden's naked episode was merely a snippet of the game, meant to be strange and funny. That's not the vibe I've gotten from the Quiet material at all.

Well... the same mode exists since MGS1. The BB unit models have the same models as the person herself. In MGS1 you were able to photograph Mei Ling, Naomi and Co.

It's literally nothing new to the series and if MGS5 doesn't have it... it will be more mature than the other games in that regard. In Peace Walker you get to photograph Paz in her underwear who looks like a little girl. There is even a dating mission with her.

This was only true in the limited re-release of the game for PS1 (MGS Integral), and it was only for Naomi (who you don't normally see 'in person' throughout the game). There was a camera mode in the general MGS game, but it was really never deliberately as pervy or ridiculous as the MGS4 boss photo mode.

Basically, the bosses in MGS4 were awful, and it's apparent that there was way more effort put into them being sexy models to perv on than anything relevant to the story.

No that's not true there was a way to unlock Mei Ling by completing the game in under 3 hours. She even posed for you and it was the only way to see her model.

Edit: There is even one in MGS2 with Meryl posing and stuff

Now that you mention it, I think I'm mixing up Mei Ling and Naomi. IIRC, it was only one woman from MGS1, from your support team, that appeared in that photo mode, and I think it was Mei Ling. Whatever It was, it was weird back then, too.
 
I see. I was confused because the first thing I read was "softcore porn". I don't see it like a big deal, I mean, she's completely optional and I'm sure you can change her outfit.

In Peace Walker there was the date mission with Paz, who had the aspect of a 16-old girl and you can photograph her. The MGS4 Easter Egg with the Beauty Bosses was way worse than this.

At least there's an explanation, not a good one but better than "for shits and giggles".

I don't think anyone knows. But save all prisoners, take all named guards and complete all missions on both difficulties, if possible in S rank and you should be ok. Finding all tapes is maybe smart too. Basically go for the safe option and do everything.
