holding out hope that it's John Nolan. Sounded like him in that trailer. He's got a great "English Bad Guy" voice on Person of Interest.

Crap, completely forgot about Zero in the trailer. Whoever the new VA sounds good.

Sucks Richard Doyle isn't in this, he did a fine job in MGS4.

By the way, he meant that Konami's excuse was a lie, and pretty bad. Not that Hayter is in the game (Just in case someone would interpret it that way).

exactly. People want to compare it to gta V... But they're both different games with different objectives..,, and one of the locations is a continent. That's like saying that instead of ONLY Shadow Moses, you got to play all of Alaska, and still be disappointed.

Kojima wanted MGS2 to go to places like the Middle East. But it never worked out and the timing of 9/11 also ruined any plans he had for that stuff.

He originally wanted MGS3 to be an open world game, but hardware ended up limiting the scope of what he intended to, and then with MGS4 he basically had MGSV in mind, just without all the fulton'ing/Mother Base stuff, Snake was originally suppose to travel around the world roaming through battlefields shifting the tides and all kinds of stuff, beard/hair growing and so on.

So I basically look at MGSV as the sum of what he's been trying to do for over a decade now but couldn't quite get there.

Guy playing isn't that bad. With unfamiliar AI movements, this is probably what most people's first playthrough will look like.

You won't be doing Ground Zeroes exhibition trick runs when you just jump into these huge enemy bases.
 
I can't knock anyone's playing. I go slow as molasses. I'll sit in one spot for five minutes just waiting for a golden opportunity. I would be the worst person to watch play this game :p

It was mentioned to that the aiming mechanic is slightly different in TPP from GZ, so you're not going to be accurate right out of the gate either.

This. I've spent the last few days trying to get all the trophies on PSN, and my skills have gotten drastically better. Just have to do the marking enemies trial on Intel Acquisition and on Deja Vu, and I should be all done.
 
I have a question for anyone who's played this: what's the passage of time like? Is it stupid fast (20min realtime = 1hr gametime), or much longer?

I remember reading months ago that 6hrs would equal 1 full day in game.

I really just want to see someone mess around on Mother Base, and work on some upgrades -- gathering plants to upgrade the poison in the tranq gun, for instance.

Interesting, but for the argument at hand, it's useless. The poster is mad because there's supposedly only a few locales in the game when the other MGS games had less. And most people don't calculate the value of a game from the number of locations.

Another Reddit Theory:

"So I have a theory: The leakers are most likely right, but they are leaving out one final twist in the plot: the fact that there isn't one. The beginning of the game (the Hospital) does two things and it goes two ways. The first is that it tries to convince you that this Venom Snake has already undergone plastic surgery and you now look like Big Boss, whilst giving you the option to create an avatar (for mostly online purposes, but to also try and convince you that this in fact a used body double (supposedly the medic from GZ)). Just before the doctor is killed he says that "tomorrow you will become a phantom". This can be interpreted in 2 ways: Either you already changed into Big Boss but will be unleashed on the world tomorrow, or that you ACTUALLY HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE SURGERY YET and will become a phantom of Big Boss (nobody can know you are truly him if your face has been altered)

Out of all of the things why is Ishmael wearing bandages and not just a mask or something else to cover up is identity as Big Boss? Why is he in hospital clothes? That is because Ishmael went through plastic surgery himself The game wants you to think that (eventually) you are a nobody and Big Boss is Ishmael, but in fact, Venom Snake is still Big Boss (the original!). Right until the end you don't realize that someone loyal to Big Boss (possibly still the medic) gets plastic surgery to LOOK LIKE BIG BOSS! So in reality, Ishmael already completed the surgery to look like Big Boss, but Big Boss couldn't go through the surgery to look like Ishmael due to the Doctor being killed!

This explains why Ishmael acts, talks, and thinks like Snake but cannot fight like him (he actually jumps on Quiet? instead of performing CQC?) and explains why Punished "Venom" Snake can still be "the greatest soldier in history" and perform every single ridiculous feat after coming straight out of a coma with no proper training.

I also think that BB's coma had nothing to do with his memory loss if that's true. I believe that they did something to the man while he was under (tainted/destroyed his memories, somehow caused the shrapnel to grow out of his head during the coma)

Also, HOW IS THAT A MAN THAT RECEIVES PLASTIC SURGERY STILL HAS ALL OF THOSE FACIAL SCARS?? It makes no sense. If they medic's face to BB's to that accurace then wouldn't they also be also able to remove the scars as well?

Ishmael on the other hand looks like a perfect, undamaged, true motherfuckin Big Boss. By the end of the game , OF COURSE he's going to still help out Big Boss and build Outer Heaven. It makes way more sense than a maniacal impostor still believing he's big boss run rampant around the world and the real Big Boss letting that happen.

Tl;dr: You are still BB as Venom Snake. The switch failed because of the ambush at the hospital. Ishmael was supposed to take your place and already has your face, but the plan ultimately failed because the Doctor could not perform the surgery on you in time. Zero was looking to save your life from Skull Face, to use a body double so that you may always live under a new face."
