Alright, so basically they made the idea that she needs parasites to survive and she breaths through her skin... they make all kinds of bizarre tech available, and then they don't make her a suit to regulate that shit!? See if you think with in the lore of the games it still doesn't make a lot of sense. There's all kinds of ways Hideo could of handled it in his game, but he wanted boobies because he likes them. Yeah... That's dumb... and dumb writing at that. I'm not saying it "can't exist" but it's still stupid in my opinion.

Why does she need a suit? Why does Hideo need to write in a high-tech suit for 1 person who needs to breathe through her skin? Especially since the time she gets burned and the time you capture her wouldn't allow enough time to create such a suit?

That's even more unrealistic, what you're asking for, 'in the games lore' as you say.

It doesn't need to be but again, none of the story trailers for this game have been presented as any form of satire. What about it is satire aside from knowing that all of this is caused by dudes named big boss, zero, and skullface.

The games pretty satirical. Maybe not 'haha' satirical but it has shown err through human folly. Which I mean, is satire.

Ahem

Parasites... give her the power to turn invisible, run at super speeds... and do some weird shit to her eyes... when the Skulls unit all wear special suits and have similar powers. Are you kidding right now? That's not even mentioning the Cobra Unit who supposedly all had the parasites as well, and word fatigues.

There's a nine year gap between the time we capture her and the time she gets burned. In a series with giant robots controlled(more advanced than the ones later in the series evidently) by psychic children exist in the 1980s, a suit that over a bikini or a female character or a different narrative reason for her outfit altogether is not out of the ordinary. Absolutely nothing is unrealistic about Quiet wearing clothes, especially since she has a sniper wolf outfit that happens to cover her entire body but no no swat gear or other outfits is just too unrealistic.

The stupid thing about the idea that Quiet has massive tumours for breasts falls down the moment you look at her and she just looks like a normal woman with massive breasts.

Skulls Unit are different, and she doesn't have access to their gear?

Erm, she gets burned while you're escaping the hospital. The 9 year gap is while you're in a coma before that. Not after you wake up.

So for 'in lore' reasons, again it wouldn't make sense for her to have a suit pop up outta no where. And the Sniper Wolf outfit is more of a gameplay only easter egg, doesn't fit the narrative.

Friend, she gets burned right after you wake up not before you go into a coma.

On a related note (I'm tired of talking about Quiet) are there any NEW spoilers? How many weapons can we make? Lot's like in Peace Walker?

yes and you can mix and match them too after you get a master gunsmith

Oi you're right, that was my mistake, still, there's nothing unrealistic about the idea that she can wear clothes. So many female characters in video games(and anime) have a narrative reason to be sexualized, Quiet is yet another example of that and it's really bad.

Can I stream anywhere directly off my ps4 without a video card and not get caught?
They'll catch you if you use popular sites. Almost sure that Twitch currently has bots in place to ban the game from being streamed. Stream.me and instagib are your best bets if you have streaming software.

Okay you know that's total bullshit.

Oh right I forgot that Quiet had a closet filled with Skull suits. And not to mention that the Skulls don't suffer her problem of not having lungs.

Really, care to bring up any recent examples of a video game character having a narrative reason to be half naked and sexualized? Other than Quiet, who's narrative reason fits in this case.

You know, you can be critical of gender representations and not freak the fuck out about them. You can have multiple emotions about one thing at the same time. You can disapprove of it while enjoying it.

Were you on the stream last night? We saw the mammal pod, which I thought was pretty special :)

I have no idea. The guy from last night uses https://www.stream.me/ but I'm not sure if that requires a capture card or not.

Awww man... I missed out I was not. I had a day full of classes and homework... so I was exhausted afterward.

YES!! Awesome, I'm so friggin' excited for this. I love that this game kind of follows certain design aspects like Peace Walker.

Like sane people should.

I'm not going to argue with you about this. Metal Gear defies logic, you literally cannot excuse stupid writing... especially when it's used as an excuse to put somebody in a skimpy outfit that the creator outright said was made so women would cosplay as her...

The most popular example is Bayonetta, (and at least they were way more upfront and honest about it instead of pretending like there's a deep reason), the more powerful her attack the less clothes she has because her outfit is her own hair.

Awww man... I missed out I was not. I had a day full of classes and homework... so I was exhausted afterward.
He's probably the only guy streaming who's really good at the game. Hotline is a troll. ._. Yet still gets S ranks.

Again, that makes sense in the context of the game. And there's nothing wrong with it at all.

Bayonetta is actually viewed as a feminist gaming icon by quite a few people actually.

I believe at one of the "female game characters" panels at PAX East she was unanimously called a good female character by the women on the panel.

lmao that people are actually saying "she can't wear clothes or she'll suffocate" is a legitimate story reason and not just a flimsy justification

she has no lungs bruh

you try breathing and being a sniper with a gigantic machine tied to you providing oxygen

protip:you can't

so the parasites let her breathe through her skin

ever try sticking a plastic bag over your head and breathing? that's how it would be for Quiet if she wore clothes

I both agree and disagree with both of you on that one. Bayonetta is at least the main character, who utterly decimates and sexually humiliates her opponents... She's the considered the most powerful character in game, next to Jean another woman and her rival... She owns her sexuality and all of the men in the game are subverted constantly by her. I just disagree here. Not to mention Bayonetta was designed by a woman who based her design on what she thought was cool. She's just that way. She's actually better written in Bayonetta 2 in my opinion... but I like her in Bayonetta 1 as well. If SHE makes you feel uncomfortable you are insecure... but she was sexualized because she was a product of Kamiya's obsession with everything being sexy... or overtly masculine. He exaggerates everything.

Again, that makes sense in the context of the game. And there's nothing wrong with it at all.
You asked for an example. I provided you with one.

Bayonetta is a very derisive character, some people view her as sexist, others view her as a feminist icon "who controls her sexuality." I lean towards the latter because she's nothing new as far as OP female protagonists go and teh camera doesn't shy away from sexualizing her when she's in actual danger and hurting.

Awww man... I missed out I was not. I had a day full of classes and homework... so I was exhausted afterward.

He was also chased by the Metal Gear, had a run in with Skull Face, saw a bit more of Psycho Mantis, did a rescue Huey mission, etc. All of it was soooooo good ^_^

Why not? The explanation in-game could be longer than the two sentences of paraphrasing we get for most of these threads. Not liking to hear any kind of explanation because you already made up your mind on this matter sure doesn't bring much of an argument to this.
Making an unsatisfying explanation doesn't seem like the problem here but instead that no one will even care to listen to one to begin with.

Does it? I always saw it zoom in when she was basically sexually harassing angel demons. I basically never saw her in "danger" she's always portrayed to be utterly demolishing her opponents.

She's a pretty overt exaggeration. I like her though. She's really inline with Platinums style of game.

Because it's a sci-fi world where they can make space age material that does all sorts of crazy shit, but they can't give a soldier some protective gear that has piping in it to circulate air to her skin?

If she's valuable enough to give her crazy parasites to save her life, she's probably valuable enough to give her a flak jacket with some tubes underneath

You're trying to make it seem like a bad thing though that she's sexualized, and providing an example of arguably a feminist icon, Bayonetta, doesn't help your argument.
Really, care to bring up any recent examples of a video game character having a narrative reason to be half naked and sexualized?
Was your question, I provided a legitimate answer. You're moving the goalpost to "but it makes sense in that lore."

Does it? I always saw it zoom in when she was basically sexually harassing angel demons.

Unfortunately yes. That was supposed to be the point, not when she's hurt.

Do we even know the specifics of meeting her yet? In the cutscene where she shows up at motherbase, they talk about her "saving the boss's life" etc. Have we seen that? Anyone know what that's about?

I don't see what this has to do with my point. I haven't looked at all the spoilers, I only know about quiet's "situation" and metal gear of the enders.

hello this is my character Tits McBoobface she has double-d cups and wears only a bikini but it's justified because she has a terrible skin condition and she needs constant sunlight exposure or else she will become very ill and that is why she just walks around in a bikini all the time and the camera hovers on her sweet tiddies and this is all definitely not pandering or creepy because i gave a story reason why she just HAS to have her tiddies out all the time

Guys does it matter? Quiet is dressed like that because that's the way Shinkawa designed her, period. I seriously don't get it when people moan over a female character being designed in a sexual way, it's a game, it isn't reality. It's a bunch of pixels on a screen that aren't gonna harm your brain. I feel that most people only start an argument over a characters sexualisation becuase they are jumping on the bandwagon.

Maybe it's best I missed it. I don't want so visually spoil myself too much.

I think she's a bad character. I don't like bitching about EVERY SINGLE sexist or badly represented female character to be honest, I just got caught up in an argument about it.

I stumbled upon this on Reddit:

It has everything to do with the point.

Does she have Cipher support? How long after the events at the hospital did she undergo the "parasite" treatment? Was it voluntary? Who did the treatment, Cipher or Skull? Did she escape?

If she escaped and has been stuck in a jungle somewhere odds are she doesn't have access to high tech body armor, etc.

Your posts in this thread have been utterly inane, defensive and unbearable, and I'm glad that I got my members status reinstated so I can finally put you on my ignore list.

When you initially capture her, you're flying back in the chopper with her in cuffs, knocked out. She suddenly comes to and phase-shifts out of the cuffs and dissapears inside the chopper. There's a fighter jet tailing the chopper and is shooting rockets at them. Snake tries to get to the gun turret and is knocked back and is unable to get back to the turret in time to save himself, but at that instant Quiet rematerializes at the helm of the gun turret and starts firing at the fighter jet. Snake is able to regain his footing and takes over the gun turret while Quiet takes up her sniper rifle. Quiet snipes the fuck out of the jets pilot, saving Snakes life. Quiet hands her rifle over to snake and re-phase shifts into her cuffs and sits down. Snake is in awe.

Well i don't know what outfit you can get to her besides the Sniper Wolf costume. If her 'canon' clothes remain in cutscenes and is unchangeable then i don't know. I don't know because i don't have the game.

Also remember the thread where people insisted that Bayonetta was raped in a Boss fight, do you guys remember that?
Yeah if you don't want context or any kind of explanation, then people just take it to get really angry with their assumptions about stuff they never even seen before. Really this is just reminding me of twitter arguments that can't maintain a long conversation.

So what % of her body does she need to have exposed to "breath"? She can't even wear a flak jacket, but have bear arms? She can have torn up sheer tights but not a pair of cargo shorts? You understand that the amount of naked she has to be is completely arbitrary and entirely dependent on creator "preference" right? The critique lies in the thread-bare justification. The fact that people take literally everything at face value is just... weird to me.

let's try to stay on subject

Then you agree that Quiets outfit is fine since it has a lore explanation? Again, Im fine with the outfit and it has a decent explanation.
It's a really stupid explanation especially after the "words and deeds" thing. I remember people even speculating that her outfit was a criticism of the sexualization of female characters.

Do we even know the specifics of meeting her yet? In the cutscene where she shows up at motherbase, they talk about her "saving the boss's life" etc. Have we seen that? Anyone know what that's about?
From what i've seen you can encounter her while trying to Rescue Emerich, she tries to snipe you in a cutscene and then you can either leave the area or fight her.

But it's an explanation nevertheless that fits in the world provided.(Considering the parasites and what happens to her at the hospital.) It's not a copped out super power like 'Oh she needs to see the sun constantly, that's why', but there is reason for it.
