They denied the existence of the amiibo, so they saying no wouldn't mean much.Well if they did respond and clearly said no we would at least know that much. If they don't respond so be it.
I guess it depends of when each amiibo will be released. Also, isn't the Yacht Club amiibo supposed to have limited copies?Since Yacht Club is making this Amiibo wouldn't a Smash Amiibo instantly cut into their own Amiibo sales and vice-versa. I don't really see it benefiting either party to have both.

Because I am a crazy person, I'm going to list some reasons why I think Snake might be coming Monday.
1. Maintenance is happening mere hours before MGS5 releases. If Snake makes it to Smash 4 at all, there is no time more opportune than now. Also, its something that I imagine Konami would have mandated. The hype is real and releasing Snake now would be a win-win for Nintendo and Konami.
2. Pretty much everyone agrees that the update at the end of July was a little sparse, especially coming off of the massive June update. Here we are exactly a month later with another potential DLC update on the horizon and its happening much sooner than expected. Why have two updates so close together if you could've had one larger one if only you had waited? Well, if Konami was hypothetically adamant about Snake releasing right on MGSV-eve even if he was completed a month prior, its possible that Nintendo would just go ahead and release everything not-MGS related once it was done, hence the most recent (somewhat light) update.
3. "Kept you waiting, huh?"
4. Man, I miss Snake
Because Burger King is called Hungry Jack's in my home country due to very weird legal reasons and instead of the lovably creepy 'king' mascotWhy aren't you dreaming about it?
Well, after today's events (or lack thereof), it would certainly seem that if Shovel Knight actually is coming, it's likelier to be sometime in the next couple of months and not necessarily this weekend. If that's the case, that kills my source, so there that goes!
That said... I have no idea what to make of the fact that Smash is going down for maintenance on Monday. They only announce maintenance beforehand when it's a big patch with new content, so regardless of what's happening with Shovel Knight, it certainly seems like something is happening on Monday. That's exciting too!
Either way, the Shovel Knight amiibo is so fucking cool. Day one for me.
Wait. Your source said he was coming to Smash this weekend?
Has he given any reason to believe him or offered true information before?
Just a thought
Perhaps the Shovel Knight amiibo IS his Smash one but they're using "prototype" box art and model to hide that fact. Though the idea of SK getting a YCG amiibo and a smash one isn't too crazy either. All of this is assuming SK is eventually revealed for smash as part of the ballot.
I'll repost this here because why not
"...a ONCE - IN - A - LIFETIME chance"Stop trying to get our hope high for Snake. He... had a hard life..
Perhaps I should have said "regardless of" rather than "independently"Watch the video again. He wasn't sure of the legitimacy of the Amiibo listing, & is thus unrelated to the Smash rumor.
This is not a Nintendo Amiibo, but a third party one like the Skylander ones. There is 0% of this materialising into a Smash Bros line Amiibo.
Ryu and Roy were announced and released on a Sunday. They announce stuff on the weekend, especially because of PAX.
It's 9:10 PM in Japan right now so it's possible that it could be patch or balance patch only since we haven't hear anything from there yet. I know there is a chance that we could get announcement on Monday.
I think we have it all wrong. Tamaki insists there won't be TWO SK amiibos.....he insists this amiibo is pulling a Little Mac, and hiding the fact its from Smash.
This just seems flat out wrong.
There'd be no reason to make two different prototype Shovel Knight Amiibo figures (gold base and purple base), unless they knew the gold base was confusing compared to the Smash series. The Amiibo also doesn't follow the proportions of other Smash Amiibo.
Now I wat a Schrodinger's cat amiibo.
Lastly, the Mods from SB and PushDustin from sourcegaming claim they are only 75% sure about Tamaki's source. They can't talk about much, but I wonder what is up about the source that theres a quarter of uncertainty around it.
It also doesn't necessarily need to be a character. It could easily just be more Mii Costumes and maybe a Brawl or another 64 retro stage. I doubt it would just be Mii costumes, however.
Probably because rumors, even sourced rumors, without picture or video evidence are not guaranteed to be accurate. Heck, even picture evidence isn't enough these days as fakes get better and better.
Edit: So THIS just popped up. The Amiibo originally had a Smash base

The ride never ends
If YCG is fully making this that would make sense as all amiibo had a smash base for awhile until the other series were announced. Though who knows maybe that image more reflective of the final build then the prototype.
Maybe if this were an earlier prototype, but as concept art, why wouldn't you just give it a blank base if you didn't know the design yet?
maybe they wanted to submit it this way to get nintendo thinking about putting him in smashMaybe if this were an earlier prototype, but as concept art, why wouldn't you just give it a blank base if you didn't know the design yet?
I agree, maybe it was wishful thinking concept art? Just playing devils advocate here as someone who wants SK

Is it fair to say that there's a good chance when Shovel Knight in Smash is actually ready they'll release another amiibo and the one just announced can also be used in Smash? That's how I see this ending right now.

That's not what the guy who leaked this said would happen, but it seems more plausible that, if SK is in Smash, that this would be the scenario, as the design of the Amiibo revealed seems close to final.
Wait, so they're not sure if it will be out with a non-Smash base?
He didn't say it wouldn't happen either.
The obvious thing here is that Shovel Knight will get a new amiibo way down the line. Maybe it's not fully planned out yet, but as you said all Smash characters need an amiibo.- Sakurai said every character that gets into Smash will get a Smash amiibo
- The Shovel Knight amiibo, which seems to have a pretty finalized design, is obviously not part of the Smash series
- To those saying the amiibo is being disguised and the character will be announced at PAX: why? Why do that when you could just announce both together at PAX and not go through the pointlessness of creating a fake amiibo?
That said, I think Shovel Knight may make it into Smash somehow. Maybe a Mii costume or trophy.
