Reflex mode is EZ mode. Turning it off in Mission 3 onwards was the best decision I could have made.

Plenty of poor design choices (especially anything to do with loading / helicopters), but awesome fun!

So for those who have a limited editon MGS V console, do you have a typo on your console?

oops

Have done a search for the word but found nothing, spellcheck me if old.

On PC I thinking I remember seeing an option to play offline... not sure about consoles.

I'd like to set up an FOB, but not at the expense of being bothered during a mission when some rat invades and steals my shit.

It wouldn't be that much of an issue if FOB resources are separate from the rest of the resources you collect in the game. Anyone know what the deal is?

Just finished the prologue, enjoying it so fat. Im guessing the story is going to be as weird as ever but it sure does look pretty.

An hour? More like 3 hours imo. It's really a demanding start, but fucking rewarding all the way through. 1 hour intro/tutorial -> 1 hour plus first mission -> 30 minute Motherbase tutorial + walking around. So. Fucking. Good.
True, just didn't want anyone to think they were going to get a break in that intro, they're in for the long haul!

Pls. If thats the standard then we should stop posting anything in here.
It's actually a huge spoiler for those on a blackout, posting a link would have been better in every way.

I'm pretty sure they can only steal fob stuff

Can invoices be revealed through interrogating soldiers?

I'm about 40 hours in and I haven't found a single invoice.

No. It's quite idiosyncratic.

Once you know what you're looking for, though, they're super obvious.

One time I infiltrated the valley power plant area, fultoned all the guys, did a side op, mucked about, and was just leaving on D-horse when I suddenly thought 'Parcel Invoice!' It was like an exclamation point above my head when I remembered.

Sure enough – I hadn't noticed anything even though I'd been back and forth over the base twice, but the instant I was looking for the box transport platform, it was right there on the main road in. An orange square raised platform with a tiny sign pole, the invoice hanging off it.

The depth is just staggering.

Which DLC codes come with the regular edition of the game? In my PS4 CE copy, there are two labelled "Day One Additional Content" and "Metal Gear Online Additional Content". I'm going to sell this copy as I'll be playing on PC but I want to give the CE bonuses to my brother.

Would they be contained in one of these codes?

Idroid is mad slow now that I'm online.

Few thoughts from me about the game so far:

-not enough climbing cracks. Getting tired tracing cliffs and dealing with the plain environment.
-constant respawn of outposts gets dry
-can't skip chopper travel scenes? I really don't care to keep seeing Boss sit in the chopper just to go from one LZ on MB to another. Such a waste of time.
-missions are pretty fun themselves and the various ways to tackle them. Keep getting caught.. I truly am awful at stealth, but so far only actively killed one person out of annoyance.

So far, I think I actually prefer MGS3 and possibly 2 still. Bigger doesn't always mean better, I'm feeling.

Is there a fast travel of some sort? I thought you could take the chopper from one lz to another but I tried it and ended up back at mother base

Get on the helicopter, select a mission and you will be transported there without going back to motherbase. Also, you will unlock free roam, but you have to destroy enemies satellite dishes to gain new landing zones.

The chopper and motherbase are great cassette listening spots.

Oh it's on the orange platform itself! Ugh, I feel like a fool. I've sat on the orange platforms in a box and nothing happened... I didn't realize I had to interact with something on it.

Can you setup an offline FOB? Really don't want the hassle of invasions/shit getting stolen.
Go online to set up an FOB, so you can get the extra space + soldiers

Go offline, reap the rewards

I am doing that at the moment as the servers are down and I haven't got any FOB pop up shit but I'm still able to deploy 4 combat units instead of 2.

Got my coffee, got my egg bacon and cheese sandwich, and I got the day off. 8 hour TPP session here I come! The quality of these games never fails to amaze me. What a beautiful fucking game.

Hey everyone. I just got the game and was wondering if its feasible to just play the story missions and essentially ignore motherbase. Also how long is the main story. Before you Chastise me, i just have limited time to play

Thanks for this I was afraid I had to be online all the time for the effects to be felt.

Great OT, Mr. Dawg.

Kind of sad the game is out because everyone I follow from this OT on Twitter has went into seclusion. I'm actually having to be productive at work.

I believe you can have Kaz take care of Mother Base duties if you want to take the hands off approach.

Not really. You get equipment and resources to do missions from MB. Like you can probably do a minimum to get through but you're going to have to do some.
Edit: by this I mean you will have to fulton people and get blueprints. There is an automatic assignment button for staff which works pretty well, so you only have to worry about the recruitment + resource part rather than the staff organisation.

Yeah, same :P just doubled checked and I am definitely in offline mode atm but I literally just deployed 4 combat units.

Have had the game crash three times already in the first 4 hours of play :P And it always fails to log in to the server.

Are we sure High Voltage didnt develop this on the PS4? :D

Which version? I played about 30 hours on 1.0 and had one crash when trying to develop something, but nothing since.

I accidentally started my game without importing my GZ save. Can I still do that into an existing new game, or do I have to import it and start over? I don't mind starting over since I stopped playing right after the prologue, and the prologue probably wouldn't be too long if you skip all the cinematics. Just wondering.

Also, anyone having connection issues? Is it just standard launch day of a big game type issues?

It's the new patch which is at fault. Literally straight after I updated with the newest patch, my game got stuck on loading screen forever after selecting continue. I uninstalled the newest patch and voila, game works again. The bugs seem to vary from person to person. It's weird. Dawg reported that he was experiencing bugs whilst playing (falling through environments) after he installed the newest patch and I have seen a couple of other people on here stuck on loading forever now too.

Being able to listen to the tapes through the phone app while I'm at work is just awesome. Love good companion apps.

You're fine. You can do it from the main menu whenever, you actually didn't miss anything because it doesn't give you that option when you first start the game.

Load outs are bad? Why? When you have a crap ton of weapons and gadgets to choose from and are about to take on a mission, fine tuning and trying new things before you hop off the heli is a good thing. The only thing I need when on the field is my Ammo and surpressers refilled.

Loadouts aren't bad, that's not what i'm getting at. I think they should have kept it to "in-field" changes, or have a loadout selection menu whilst waiting on the chopper, but integrate it into the iDroid or whatever

The horrible loadout menu as it is just feels out of place

I usually don't like stuff like this, but the
gold arm
you get for importing Ground Zeroes save data is pretty sexy. Not really sure if people already discussed it, so I tagged it as spoiler.

Got back from work an hour ago and started the download on Steam but it's going really slow. The download speed is fluctuating a lot and is usually below 200 kb/s (Should be at 1MB/s with my connection). Is this normal for release day of big games on Steam? Anything I can do? :(

My frustrating experience with mission 16 is but a distant memory having just completed 17 and in particular 18. Sogood.gif

Also, Decoys are now my favourite thing to use. Vehicle approaching? Throw decoy out, inflate as it's about to run over it. Once it's stopped quickly go behind it, use fulton and profit. :)

At bigger locations on the map there will be these yellow platforms right outside the base. Walk up to them and take off the sign displayed on a post. This will activate the location to fast travel for that location. You simple equip your cardboard box and sit inside the yellow platform. Hold triangle and the iDroid will pop up with the other available locations you can fast travel to.

I was doing the same thing. Now I see that my R&D is high enough to develop something even better for capturing vehicles. Not going to spoil what it is though.

Switch your download server to something like West Africa, no lie, it stopped the fluctuating and I got a solid boost in download speed.
