So for this kill the Spetsnaz commander op can I just take him out with a Sniper Rifle? No need to tranq him or fulton him or anything, right

With pretty much all these types of missions the choice is yours, but if you kidnap him he might become a valuable asset for Diamond Dogs/unit in Mother Base depending on his skill set - but if that's too much of a pain, you can also clear the mission by just killing him.

What about it do you find boring? Theres alot to do if you get far.

I just seem to be doing the same thing over and over again. I thought I was returning to the same locations every time, it was that repetitive but when I found more material (in exactly the same place, in exactly the same building, with exactly the same ladder placement) I realised, no, this is a different place. And then I went over to another building with (see above). I think the level layout is the most uninspired I've ever seen. And who thought sandstorms where a good idea? I just crouch and make myself a cup of tea while it passes. I am not impressed with this particular MGS one little bit. I'm going to press on with the main quests and hope they throw up some variety but of right now I'm regretting my purchase, which is exacerbated by the fact I was warned.

I just turned it on. Did anyone else see that the two nurses in the beginning strongly resembled Nurse Rachet from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and the nurse from An American Werewolf in london? If that was intentional, Bravo Kojima.

WHY IS THE COMPANION APP NOT SUPPORTED ON iPhone5?

I updated my phone from iOS7 to 8.4.1 because it said I had to and now it says the iPhone 5 hardware is not supported.

I updated for no reason. Wish it would have told me the hardware wasn't supported first so I didn't go to iOS 8

Do I have any options. Are there any tricks to install it on an unsupported device. I am 99% confident it would run fine considering the OS is the same

I hate myself for loading up the last checkpoint when I get spotted.

It's a thing I do in every stealth game, and it really dampens my enjoyment.

So, from reading a few reviews I kept hearing that the story was light in this game... Is that true? I was hoping for the typical MGS craziness in terms of cutscenes and story.

If you beat it by killing him, can you replay the mission and extract him instead?

Does anyone else have an issue with songs not appearing in your cassette menu? I remember collecting the Rebel Yell tape, but it's not in the song list.

I hope this works... if it does... i hope the app can link to PC... or i'll have to wait till i play some on PS4 i guess.

Says you must connect to the main game once to use this mode... should be good.

Yeah, looks like it should work.

Im about 9 hours in and i feel as if i haven't accomplished anything but at the same time ive done a lot of stuff

It feels kinda weird

How do I know if the upload from GZ was successful? I just loaded the game on X1.

For me it too a while, I had to finish a mission and in the end mission report it finally popped up. Basically all the prisoners you saved are brought over as "special recruits"

Question: My roommate played about 3 hours today on my PC and says that there isn't any option to load/start a new save file. Has anyone been able to find where the directory is that stores MGSV save files? I'd like to at least save his somewhere so he can load it up when he wants to continue playing.

Ayone? Thread is moving fast.

Rescued a familiar face. The prologue was simultaneously great and bizarre. Probably the best game opening since TLOU. The way the stealth works in a true open world is well done so far. Looking forward to seeing how crazy things get. Hard to believe it has been seven years since the last full rodeo on a console. If it continues to be a good hybrid of MGS3 and FarCry, I am going to love this.

I keep forgetting that this game released today.

I'd been waiting for Mad Max, and decided to wait until the library got this because I'm cheap and my interest in the MGS series has waned over the years, possibly due to depression.

But I am looking forward to it after reading all of the good reports.

Libraries get high profile games? Wut?

~ 6hrs in and I feel the same. Its like I get the whole structure of building up my base but it doesnt feel like it really matters, it's all just menus and upgrades that I'm not using and it's making me wonder if I'd be better off just doing the main story missions only

It might sound hyperbolic but I feel like this is the first truly 'next gen' game I've played which is odd considering its on last gen platforms. I'm playing it and thinking 'I can't believe I'm playing this'. It's amazing.

You can, and should fulton him

what

But the mission said--
...
dammit.

So... where do I put someone who speaks Russian so I can translate? Or is that a unique skill?

Once you recruit them they'll be automatically assigned to the proper place. Check mother base's personnel thing for a detailed description of how their skill works--this goes for any person with a unique skill.

Oh, and yeah, translation is a unique skill. Only some units have skills. You should come across them after a couple missions, but I'll spoil you if you want:
There's a side-op specifically for recruiting one very early on in the game.

Holy shit at the
medical bay "hidden"
scene I stumbled upon randomly. Like, wow. I guess I should explore everything to make sure to get everything.

Like, it was really a MGS holy shit moment.

Spoiler :
I guess I should watch that Ground Zeroes ending scene agai

Could you tell me how to access this? I've unlocked the medical bay and standing on it now, but I can't find anything.

Door with a blue light above it.
I've seen some posts about this medical bay stuff, but I don't really want to go through a ton of pages trying to figure it out. Anyone able to tell me why I shouldn't miss this area?

Also, I hope I find a translator soon. Just got to Mother Base for the first time.

Quick question about a cutscene I thought would have been in the prologue. It was included in the Ground Zeroes end game teaser for TPP. I'll put it in spoilers.

I'm referring to the scene where Big Boss, Kaz, and the 'what about him?' Guy are in the Cypriot hospital being treated immediately following their chopper crash at GZ's end. Where Kaz is screaming 'Don't die on me damnit' @ Big Boss

Is that scene anywhere in TPP even as a flashback?
