I don't know if this is what you're referring to, but some members are on Contract. They cannot be fired or reassigned. Most can be manually checked off Contract status.

It should show a Lock, though, not a crossed box.

For instance, this guy.

His checkbox is crossed. He does not have a lock symbol, and he is not in the combat unit. I can't select him, and thus can't reassign or fire him, and I also can't use the "Direct Contract" option. He is also not in sickbay or in the brig.

I've progressed quite a bit in the game, but I'm still wondering about something in the prologue.

Was that Quiet who attacked Snake in the hospital room? It totally looked like her.

One thing I could really use some help on:
Can I manage my teams in the Combat Unit for when they go on ops -- I've been constantly sending out 2 - 3 automated teams on missions, but I just don't understand the interface at all -- the peace walker one made sense to me immediately, but I just have no idea what's going on in the menus for this one specific part of the iDroid.

Beat the prologue on ps4. Now it says installing game data do not turn off the system 203 seconds

But the seconds aren't counting down and it's been a few minutes. Borked?

IS there a way to set the time the Phantom Cigar Passes?

Like to do missions at night, I used it when it was daytime and it passed it right through most of the night until it was almost the next morning...

question for Extract Wandering Mother Base soldier side op:

how?? I used up all my tranq ammo and it didn't seem to do anything, I can't punch him because he punches quicker and knocks me down and diving at him doesnt seem to do anything. I even shot at him in rage and that did nothing either. Did the mission bug out or am I missing something

Personally I use
D-Dog, just crawl up near them, then set him to attack them, while they are fighting run ( sprint) up and falcon punch the dude with your bionic arm equipped. Then grab him and choke or throw him as he gets up.

Are the servers not up yet? Haven't been able to connect once yet..

Is anyone else having an issue where you cant connect online?

Maintenance right now.

What's up with the side ops that are checked off but white and not grayed out like other completed ones? Did I fuck something up on them?

Unequip the Phantom Cigar (you can just tap left on the D-pad, or hold left and select 'None') when you've reached the time you want.

So what's the deal with the bass BWAAAAAH sound I hear at random while sneaking through the wilderness? I thought it meant an enemy was near, but that doesn't seem to be the case sometimes.

I keep playing 'The Man Who Sold The World' over and over again.

I'm pretending that Big Boss is having constant auditory hallucinations because that's the song that was playing as he woke up from the coma.

The soundtrack in this game is incredible. Not just the licensed music, but the actual ost. My favorite mgs music has always been the style of metal gear 2 and mgs1 (psx) where it had a more synthy sound. Future mgs games, and the mgs tts remake, all took a more movie style approach to the soundtrack. Mgsv is like a merging of both styles and its so fucking cool. Best soundtrack for an mgs game since mgs3.

If my guess is correct, the PC save of TPP is actually, not in TPP's folder if you have Ground Zeroes!

If you have Ground Zeroes and have used the save upload function, your TPP save file should be in your GZ save folder, which is Steam\userdata\your steam number id\311340\remote, if you do not have GZ, try locate it in the TPP save folder, which should be Steam\userdata\your steam number id\287700.

One of the best times I've had with this is when
I was going after a vehicle, on horseback, while listening to songs on my idroid, knowing I couldn't destroy the thing with the weapons I had. Then I get to an edge off a cliff, music is blasting, and I look down. All I see are the vehicles parked in front of me and I start throwing grenades left and right. One vehicle gets destroyed by a bombardment and the second one I'm just chucking grenades one after another. It was like the feeling I had at the end of MGS1, but without the game coming to an end.

Game is just so fun to control. Had to extract out of a mission area and a sandstorm provided the cover I needed.

Nevah stop divin', nevah stop rollin'.

Had the same issue, restart your console (if you're playing on one, not sure how it works with PC) and it will fix itself.

If you are on PS4, press the bottom left part of the touch pad to pause and skip cutscenes.

Thanks it ended up resolving itself. Now that I'm in the game it is great. It controls like a dream. I can't believe they got the controls feeling better than they did in GZ. And it looks incredible.

Current gen has now finally arrived with MGS. I felt the same way about last gen on PS3 when MGS 4 came out. Then Naughty Gods came in and blew the doors off ... I fully expect the same to happen again but I'll enjoy MGS until the Gods put out a game just like I did last go round. :)

Pst... look above. I had to delete the save a couple times, restart my machine, ect..
Make sure you upload your save to the cloud first tho..
It will kick through eventually.

Whew, just finished the prolouge, a little too long but I enjoyed it a little, can't wait to actually play the rest and actually be in control.

One thing though, coming fresh off GZ, does Ishmael sound exactly like Boss/Snake or is it just me?

time to install game date for 3000 seconds

Someone please help, I'm begging you.

I'm doing the
C2W
mission.

One of the side objectives is to
extract 2 prisoners being held at Wialo Village. I found one but can't find the other.
There are so many buildings and I keep losing track of where I've looked :(

Closed app and reopened. Save had me at the end of the prologue, got back to the same screen. Still no counting down. Even sounds like the disc stopped spinning. Am I paranoid or is this broken?

'Ask' an enemy soldier.

Does anyone know how to make the number notifications for staff management go away? It's the number/symbol indicating something new. It's triggering my OCD. I can make them go away for everything else except for staff.

Thanks in advance. I am beginning to believe they just go away on their own, though.

Is there any way to be air dropped single items? I keep running low on supressors, and want to air drop those, but I'm forced to airdrop a replenishment of my entire lost out. Is that my only option?

I'm severely disappointed that we cannot choose strut location on our Mother Base nor FOB's.

Yeah, a supply drop. That's all.

There's a particular set of Side Ops worth doing.

Rescue the Legendary Gunsmith

The reward is pretty cool for doing them. It isn't an item, but a whole feature.
Gun Customization, allowing you to take pieces of pretty much any gun of a particular type and combine them to make your own unique weapon.

It's easy to miss out on, so I'd say keep an eye out for it. It helps with the lack of non-lethal weapon variety, certainly.
