I think so.

I think they shout really loudly and if others hear that, they pass it on and such so it becomes an alarm super quickly. But they do need to sit down and radio for a lot of stuff. I don't think it's just "instant alarm" all the time.

I need to play more to verify though.

If they find something strange like noise, your move, they will sit down and call radio but if they see you, it's instant alarm.

To open the iDroid menu, press the Options button. For the Pause menu, click the left side of the touchpad (doesnt need to be the corner).

Not saying its a hardware problem, more like misleading prompts. For every new gameplay mechanic you are introduced to, a yellow prompt appears to press the bottom left corner of the touchpad, doing so will open the pause menu and in the bottom there are tips for the mechanic, in your case - the iDroid.
Hm, I'll give this a try before reinstalling then. Thanks a lot for your help!

Completed mission 6 and all available side ops up to that point yesterday, have three platforms developed.

Loving it so far.

How soon can I get Quiet?

so it isn't like in previous MGS games where the enemies have to pick up their radios and call it in? They just instantly start alert phase when they see you like in GZ?

btw. Kojima considers PO canon but not his own game so he doesn't like to mention it too much.

The instant alert is not really an instant alert, if you neutralise them before they are able to fire their gun then it won't be an alert. It's the gun that alerts everyone in the vicinity and then they contact the HQ. When it comes to caution and evasion they stop, kneel and contact HQ.

Also I do not particularly like how severing the link between enemies and HQ doesn't really seem to work, I stopped bothering with the communication satellites now because despite destroying them they still seem to be able to communicate to HQ and the other outposts....what's the point???

I can make a very short video for you guys who struggle with it... it's very easy with D-Walker. I S ranked it on my second try once I knew what I had to do.

Something tells me people are not experimenting enough. Especially since you can call any buddy you want on the fly as well as any weapons/items.

Only done the first couple of missions, loving it so far but the credits inbetween every mission are ridiculous.
Don't need to see Konami and KojiPro every damn time.

I think once you get to know the path the vehicles take you can just lay C4/mines to take care of the vehicles. Although when you start two of the vehicles are separated quite far away, so taking care of one means that you only have a short time to get to the other before it leaves and you have to go through a stronghold and that's a tough part if you want to do it without engaging the enemies there big time. There's also a tank inside their stronghold that never really seems to come out unless there's an alarm going on.

Yup.

Well the clip is rendering now, will upload immediately for those who are struggling atm. It's probably one of the easiest main missions really. Just need to upgrade your D-Walker with a Gatling gun and you're good to go lol. Another little tip with that buddy, to continuously use driving mode for speed hold down Square/X.

There are other ways of doing that mission too, but I found that to be the most fun since I never use that buddy.

40 hours played

30% done

20 main missions done

This game...oomg so good!

Oh Im finally connected to the server! Now let me build my fob? :(

Has anyone actually been able to build one yet?

Are there like...harvest points for materials to upgrade Mother Base? GMP seems like plenty but actually getting 1000 of stuff is proving difficult.

When you get your Fulton fully upgraded, shipping containers are going to be your best friend.

Until then, probably combat deployment and just generally picking up everything you find.

S Ranked chapter 16, happy with that, but shocked that I got it on my first completion.

Ranks seem to be based on speed and efficiency, I restarted from a checkpoint about 3 or 4 times, didn't seem to matter -- and I killed several guards.

I feel like I've moved into the second act after mission 13 -- that was a pretty crazy game of hide and seek, and Africa is now unlocked, I have to wonder, how many main missions are there?

Oh, and anyone else getting major Far Cry 2 vibes? Well, Far Cry in general with the tagging, but Far Cry 2's Africa in particular comes to mind.

I can't enjoy this game. I'm too obsessed with perfection.

I wish they didn't show the ranking after missions. It's fucking with my mind too much. Everything needs to be S ranked.

How do you unlock side ops exactly? Its been unlocking them randomly so far, like i already have side ops 61, but i'm still missing 6 to 10 and a lot more inbetween 11 and 61. Anything to do with those extra task in the main missions?

Five or so hours in and I'm loving it. I had played MGS1-3 but not finished any of them. I got caught up with Metal Gear Scanlon on Giant Bomb.

It feels exciting to be on the ground floor with this story - uncovering it at the same time as everyone else, although obviously the game is super light on cutscenes after the prologue.

The control is so buttery smooth and satisfying, it's like almost nothing else I've played in recent memory. I've barely scratched the surface of the Mother Base stuff yet, obviously, but it's super tantalising.

Thumbs way up, as far as early impressions go!

Apparently so yeah. I wouldn't worry about the order they unlock though, but I think extracting assasination targets can give you things.

Is the Quiet mission fucking bugged?

If there's one thing I hate more than a tedious mission, it's a bugged tedious mission.

I'm assuming
she's still in the cell listening to music?
it took a long time for me to be contacted in regards to acquiring her as a buddy.

The one thing about the game I don't like is how incredibly finicky the cover system is with keyboard.

Sometimes you can run headlong into a wall and he will never ever stick to it.
Or you want to walk along it and he randomly decides to walk away from it.
Very weird.

Haha. Just did mission 8 and went totally rogue. Done in 20 minutes. The game is also fun when you blow a whole base up.

Well, that's why i get low scores. I take my time. Not about to change that.

Yep. clearing a base is fun as hell.
But so is sneaking and not getting spotted sometimes.

The feel of getting spotted after you exfiltrate a mission. I don't even care, fuck it
I plan every mission around going nonlethal and quiet...but the minute a base wide combat alert goes up?

This game is fun. Finally got to bust it out after my new PC came in. Looks beautiful, and plays great with a controller. Only made it to the start of Mission 3 now, but that's enough for the first day!

No. I didn't even get a cutscene. Looking at YouTube, regardless of how you do it you're supposed to get a cutscene. I didn't. Which pisses me off because this mission is not fun. At all.
