I'm loving the change of scenery with Africa. Looks great and I can't wait to explore it more.

I'm sure this has been posted before numerous times in the thread, but man do I HATE the credits after every single mission.

Don't get me wrong, the game itself is amazing and I've had a blast playing it so far, but nothing takes me out of the game faster than seeing Hideo Kojima's name constantly popping up. I get it bro. You are god and made yet another amazing game. Stop plastering it on screen after every single mission please.

Do you mean before every mission? As the ones after take all of 1 second to skip past.

My opinion isn't fact, but on MGS4 it's pretty damn close, and I refuse to be told otherwise.

I firmly believe that people who don't think MGS4 is either the worst or second worst game in the series are willfully blind to the truth. If I lined up all MGS games, and demanded you play one, and you decide to replay MGS4 I refuse to acknowledge you as a human being.

MGS4 is 2/5ths of a good game.

Just skip it...

i mean real metal gear games

MGS4 was fucking awesome after act 2. acts 1 and 2 were probably my least favorite parts of the game, honestly. shit started getting real crazy with act 3, and it didn't let up for the rest of the game.

To each their own, I suppose. I just don't understand.

I would have preferred Act 3 and onwards as a radio drama.

We need a recount. Settle the score, once and for all.

I said it after playing Ground Zeroes and I'll say it again. Kiefer Sutherland, though he's doing a good job, is just not nearly the same as David Hayter.

Also I must've missed when Ocelot became your friend. The last I remember in MGS3 was good ol' revolver ocelot being on the other side of the playing field.

So keep in mind that D horse can jump off ledges a bit too high and end up killing snake, even though nothing seems to happen to D horse

I'm doing the
"get RIOT SMG blueprints"
side op, but none of the guards seem to know where it is. Now everyone is asleep, and I can't seem to find anything in the village. Wonder if it's bugged?

Indeed. Sutherland does a great job, but Hayter was too iconic to replace IMO.

It's all little hard to find. Have you checked your map for a tick/check mark?

He's not.

But neither was Richard Doyle.

I love Hayter's voice for Solid Snake and that will never change, but I think mixing it up for Big Boss was a good move.

Also to the people asking about the benefits of killing vs non lethal. You get more Heroism for non lethal actions and tactical takedowns you can only get for non lethal takedowns I think. Need to read the tip for tactical takedowns again. I'm going to spoiler tag this just in case but it's not story related
I was reading online that killing and destruction will cause your "horn" to grow bigger. Not sure how directly the heroism stat relays to that

Hayter's gravelly voice is ridiculous so I think it's a change for the better. In terms of the amount of dialogue that may be different.

Ocelot talks about it in the cassettes. I don't pretend to know the deal though. In the prologue he says Kaz sent him for you

I kind of like that Huey and Big Boss are like the scummier versions of Otacon and Snake, because it really ties nicely with Snake and Otacon cleaning up their mess by MGS4.

Like we knew this was always gonna be the case with Big Boss, but
I'm seriously surprised about how much more respectable Otacon is than Huey.

Huey is like, a scumbag coward who does some reeeeally questionable things and doesn't take responsibility for anything. Makes me really appreciate how loyal Otacon was in spite of everything.

You can skip credits, just press X on PS4.

MGSForums members can hate the game all they want. My point still stands. This is a game that got these scores from both critics and fans:

And regarding the bolded, no one here is arguing if MGS4 is better than the previous 3. But it was a great game that deserved all the scores it got. That's it. You can hate it all you want, but just deal with the fact that your opinion goes against the consensus, which is completely fine.

Yeah? Prove it.
Citing meta critic doesn't mean shit. Gta4 was lauded as this amazing game on its release. Not anymore.

And he's talking about fans of the series.

South East of village if I remember correctly, did you mark the quest?

Mission 31...
Peace Walker redux? Fucking really?
Uh man just got there....just terrible.
Imo the boss fights in this game have been shit so far and involve direct confrontation. Even MGS4 had better bosses. I'm not even doing half of the shit that's happening I'm that fight

I love how MGS4's fans only defense is always basically "bu-bu-but it's popular" rather than try to legit defend it.

It's popular with critics and casual fans, but the fans that had been around since a long time ago (split up on MGS:TUS, Snake Soup, GameFAQs & MGSForums among other places)? Nah. There's definitely been backlash against it. I'd imagine MGSV will get backlash from the fanbase too (like MGS2 and MGS4 before it), for reasons more to do with the presentation of this game but I'm enjoying it so far, regardless on the final consensus from the fanbase.

If MGS2 is the best selling in the series, does that mean everyone is on the same page with its storyline? Since I don't think so, and I freaking love MGS2. Just saying.

I ended up finding that in one of the houses completely by accident, without having to interrogate anyone.

You can always use phantom cigar to move to daylight and switch up the guard movement.

Literally just found it after submitting that post lmao

Didn't think of that. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm having this problem, thanks

Fultoning a jeep full of soldiers including the target you were sent to kill/capture whilst surrounded by troops without them seeing you is gold. Man I feel like such a badass right now. Kojima and team absolutely nailed the gameplay, best MGS to date in that department.

Tough act to follow.

I said it after playing Ground Zeroes and I'll say it again. Kiefer Sutherland, though he's doing a good job, is just not nearly the same as David Hayter.

I replayed some MGS4 this weekend, and man. Hayter is awful in that game. My girlfriend even asked if that was a real person or if it was a computer voice. He's so monotone and unrealistically gruff. Like I've never heard an actual person's voice sound as torn up as Hayter's does in that game.

Kiefer is light years beyond that. When Big Boss says "Kaz... Tell me what to do. Like you used to." It actually goes towards capturing the weariness and brokenness of a man who has had everything taken from him, who has just gone through a literal hell, and who is seeing his best friend for the first time in years. It's far from amazing, but at least it's an actual performance that captures emotions rather than a gruff line reading.

I don’t know who Ishmael is, but it sounded like Keifer as well. Figment of Boss’s imagination or something else?

I took it as Big Boss' inner solider, all the knowledge, instict, and skill, just taking over and helping him even though he wasn't fully there physically or mentally. I think Ocelot mentions in one of the tapes that the piece of shrapnel in his head was pressing on his brain, and might cause some hallucinations. Ishmel was probably that. But Burning Man was totally real cause Ocelot saw that weird as shit too.

Read again:

It's more interesting than the shit show that MGS4 was.

There were a million cutscenes in mgs1, nothing too long but a bunch of them. MGSV has extremely little. I also don't see how it is comparable at all. I think what you want to say is you like that it doesn't have what you consider to be bad cutscenes like mgs4. But I would say it doesn't have good cutscenes like mgs1 either, it doesn't have much of anything outside the gameplay.

And you think fans of the series didn't vote on that user score?

There's backlash against MGS4? Definitely.

The majority of the fans love it? Most definitely.

I love the tank unit disposal missions. Just fultoning a tank into thin air and no one seems to notice.

I love GTA IV and MGS4 AMA

So a question if I start the free roam mode, does this not trigger any missions? I'm afraid I will trigger something due to my weird obsession with exploring

Is there any way that you can tap the shoulder button, rather than having to hold it down for when you want to use the binoculars?

I never trust a frenchman.

is it difficult for you to understand that I was responding to a claim about its popularity and not the quality of the game itself? No shit my counterpoint would be to reference its popularity long after release. Talking about how much I liked or disliked the game would have been a non sequitur.

I asked this before in the review thread but it probably wasn't the best place so I'll ask it again here. How graphic does the game go regarding sex/violence without spoiling much? I have a sixth grade bro who I'm not sure should have access for this game if it pushes the envelope too far.

Hmm, it goes pretty far on both counts.

It's kind of weird to describe, actually.

Might need a second opinion on this.

This game reminds me of MG1 and 2 after you leave that hospital.

yeah! I have the same vibes.

Even the codec calls are now more like the MSX Metal Gears, where they give you either random tips or something directly related to what you're watching. It really is closing the gap, I feel.

I'm working late shifts this week, so the plan was to buy it next week..

But fuck it. I'm at work now, so a friend (who I played MGS2 with when we were kids) will pick up the game for me, and a 3,5mm splitter (my girlfriend is sleeping in the other room), and pick me up at midnight ( in 5 hours) when my shift is over.

Can't wait!

Can the enemy adapt to you requesting drops on their head?

No, but you'll run out of money quickly!

Speaking on that adapting thing, I've been testing it out, and it's getting a little too immediate. I bought a bunch of smoke grenades and did two missions with them exclusively, and then the next was 1/4 of the soldiers running around my clouds all fine like.
